Actually, wait, Terminator 2 came out in 1991. This game is from 1992, the SNES came out in 1990. This must have been one of the last NES games, right? How odd to release a tie-in game on the older system, it's not like they could have started this game long during the heyday of the NES and then the SNES came out midway through development.

The last licensed NES game in America was Wario's Woods in 1994, late enough that it has an ESRB rating.

You know how for most of the PS5's existence, big games released on it have also been on PS4 since it has such a large install base compared to the PS5? This is the same reason that many licensed games got NES versions for much of the SNES lifespan.

I too was shocked by how messed up this version of Toobin was. Like yeah the button layout kinda has to be messed up due to the way the NES controller is but they couldve done better than that

Apparently Renos role has been reduced in this one due to his Japanese VAs death which occurred right at the original games release. They didnt have the time to cast somebody else so they are reusing existing recordings for his lines in this game and had to reduce his screen time. Next game they will cast somebody else for the role.

it is possible for emulators to improve slowdown and flickering (see the Kunio-kun collection on Switch for example) but it is not something they have implemented on these NSO emulators

They admit that its inconsistent and is only because they havent implemented a way for the game to display what his power would be otherwise, so I imagine at some time in the future it will be different

with High Evo Hulk still a very real threat I think you would want the option to build up a big Apocalypse to compete with it

I much prefer this type of video over the history of a game's speedrun, half of which is just "on X date, Y runner finally overtook the record. Then two days later, runner Z took it back" over and over

As an aside, I've always hated how Mario speedrunners pronounce the level names aloud as "five dash two" rather than just saying "five two." It's less words, it saves time! You're speedrunners for god's sake!

I'm trying to make Infinaut work. I probably want to take out Ant Man and Hawkeye. I might want to add Dino as a backup plan since my hand is usually really full. I don't think I have any other cards that get stuff out of my deck except for Angel (which I seem to always draw anyway lol). It doesn't seem that bad, and it feels really good to play a giant 20-power card where your opponent isn't expecting it.

You want at least one more powerful card for Jubilee to pull, Hulk and Odin are the obvious ones but you might have another one. Dino wouldnt be bad for that either but youd probably want something else to help increase your hand like Cable, Sentinel, etc

* You can destroy machines by boosting into them. If you see a weak machine, it might be worth a boost. If you get a KO, your energy meter grows and can restore to full.

If its a player you will restore to full, but if its a bumper you only get the increase to your max power. A spin will kill if theyre in Power Down state too, but it might be hard to catch up to them without using a boost so thats often the better option.

Also, getting KOs is especially helpful in Prix races, as the increases to your power carry over between races. A couple KOs in the first race can have a big impact on the rest of the Prix.

Its not as good as Mario 35, and probably Tetris 99 is better too, but it is definitely in the good camp vs Pac-Man 99 which was a bad game

You're exactly right. It has so many systems that it actually becomes restrictive, you pretty much have to play the way they want you to or else you will run out of ammo
