A Short Hike beated!

Played it before but it's on Game Pass, short, chill, and still a very fun, easy going experience.

Still 5 games out of the playoff spots...

Since I've not done this here before...are the playoffs during the actual playoffs or is it like Fantasy where the last few weeks are the playoffs?

Oddly enough the final two chapters were both shorter and easier than some of the earlier ones; honestly I feel like the second chapter was the hardest part.

That thing that chases you in part two is also imo the freakiest monster in the game.

Also because I will probably never get another chance to reference this, the cooks made me think of HR Puffnstuf if he really let himself go. The heads apparently being masks just added to that tbh.

I can confirm this info. Last 2 chapters, especially the last, were MUCH shorter. Oddly, I didn't get the achievement after finishing Chapter 5, no idea why not.

Chapter 2 was definitely the most difficult. Chapter 4 might have been the most gross and disturbing.

Read this post, then in literally the next part of Chapter 3 I had a scene showing the heads as masks as they reached underneath them.

...that said, I'm not sure when we decided to rank those? The nominator didn't specify that particular edition, as was done with EMOTION. This is already a long enough album and I feel like those 2 songs are tacked on to what's otherwise a finished album. Personally I'd prefer not to rank them but majority rules?

Did a not first listen yesterday.

Haven't heard this in a long time. Surprised how much I still generally remembered of it aside from a few tracks near the end (except for Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains), which is memorable). I do want to sit down and pay a bit more attention to the lyrics on my next listen.

Perhaps it's just because we listened to it recently, but it feels like someone smarter than me could make some insightful comparisons between this and Illinois. That album jumped into my head within a few tracks of re-listening to The Suburbs, despite this album being much more traditionally "rock" sounding.

Also, I'm starting to feel like interplay between male and female vocalists is a thing for me. It's not quite as prevalent here as it is with Of Monsters and Men - My Head is an Animal or The xx - xx, but there's something about that dichotomy which seems to please my brain.

Looks like andel and KommunistKoala have taken the same teams to this point, as well as Fiop and Mewtwo being twinned up. The other 6 have different combos to anyone else.

14 teams have been selected among those 10 people, though 4 teams (Eagles, Giants, Pats, Vikings) have only been taken once. Only the Seahawks have been used by everyone still remaining.

The Giants tend to win the NY vs NY matchup over the years though. I've thought about that game myself but I don't think I can pull that trigger when the Jets seem primed to lay an egg, at home.

I just didn't connect with this album. I guess I can see why this might be "a big deal" but for me there wasn't much here either instrumentally or lyrically.

This site is like a 1998 Toyota Corolla. Solid, reliable, but unspectacular.

Over the years people have tried to upgrade it or "pimp" it out or whatever. Sometimes things like a new stereo are good. But other things like rims, body kits, whatever just don't work...because it's still a Corolla.

Now it's 2023 and that Corolla is still puttering along. And it still works because anyone using it 25 years later doesn't want it to be anything else. It ain't a BMW, it ain't a F150, it's a low maintenance car that will go until it literally dies.

I'm not sure my tortured analogy really worked, but my point is that we love the site for what it is, despite it being vintage. If all the shit people have talked about had happened, well, it wouldn't be this site anymore. Sure, I'd love some more Contents, but I get the business reasons that couldn't happen. Other than that, I'm perfectly fine with where the site is.

Yeah, my spate of non-Instagram women was always doomed to not much success in a defacto T&A contest. But Rebecca Ferguson, Jennifer Aniston, and now Jennifer Connelly have all gotten wins, so that makes me happy.

Funny thing, I watched Top Gun: Maverick for the first time the other day and I was like "DAMN, who's the bartender". She looked familiar but I couldn't quite remember. Then a few minutes later, the name popped into my head, none other than Ms. Jennifer Connelly, still looking fine as hell at 50ish years of age. Those eyes and eyebrows...such a beautiful face.

I think 3 is maybe a tiny bit too old for the largest core of the site's users (speaking as someone on the older end of that "core"). Not a game they won't have gone back to, played, and enjoyed but World is more likely to be their first Mario game, and that come with a lot of nostalgic weight.

On a different level, it's easy to see why World > 3 is the usual consensus. It's an easier game, it's nicer looking, Yoshi, the secret exits, Star Road, etc. It also controls just a bit better.

All that said, I voted for 3, because I love how wacky and weird it is. ...Also, that's the one I played the shit out of as a kid on the NES, years before I played World.

Just looking it up now, man, I didn't realize how close together the release dates for those were in the U.S.A. at only 18 months:

• Mario 3 - 2/12/1990
• World - 8/23/1991

I know games came out much quicker back then but it feels like it would have been longer?
