My brother's using the main TV to play some of the latest Mario Golf online. Holy shit, it looks so boring. I really don't see the appeal, but then I've never been a sports guy. Apparently you have to unlock better clubs, which shouldn't really be a thing in MP mode.

There's gonna be a remaster of Sonic Generations. It'll have Shadow added as a playable character, so it'll be called Sonic x Shadow Generations. This is an absolutely terrible name, because it'll no doubt lead unsuspecting people to pictures of Sonic and Shadow playing tonsil hockey.

She's feeling a bit better today. A friend of hers is giving her a hair cleaning right now.

Mom's been getting queasy a lot since she got back. Any time of day and any time she eats, she gets sick. She brushes her teeth, the taste of the toothpaste makes her sick. She smells cooked food, she gets sick.

This year is gonna wreck us. I've gotten some nasty circles under my eyes from the stress, lack of sleep, and eye strain from using my tablet and games to try and unwind.

Started playing Terminator: Resistance after Civvie11 gave it a glowing recommendation.

It's a sort of immersive sim FPS where you're encouraged to explore, have a skill tree, and some issues have multiple solutions depending on how you build your character. The early game is rough because you have no skills and outdated weapons, but exploring will get you ammo and materials to spare. You'll definitely wanna put a point into lockpicking so you can get a shotgun from the trunk of a police car. That thing will absolutely save your bacon in the early game.

I don't like that there's skills to boost XP gain. I'd rather just have a decent base XP flow instead of spending skill points to make it better. Also don't like how the pistol reload always has you pull the slide back. From what I know about guns, that should only happen if you reload when it's empty. I guess that's the limited budget showing.

The game is definitely something we need to see more of; a mid-budget game that gets by on quality that's made by a passionate team that loves what they're adapting. Even better, it's heavily inspired by the first two Terminator films, which are widely regarded as the best. Definitely give those two a watch if you haven't yet and ignore anything after that.

She's finally back home. Now, the true trials begin.

Three days ago, it was snowy. Today, the snow is melted and it's in the high 50s.

Damn, the fog tonight was thick as fuck. Like, humanized Pinkie Pie levels of thicc.

And of course, this is all happening during one of the grayest, rainiest weeks I've ever seen. This has definitely been the least-snowy winter in a while.

They keep finding new reasons to keep her. Not huge, critical things that have to be addressed immediately, but enough to ensure that carrot keeps getting dangled.

Visiting her every day is starting to feel like a job that only pays in mental fatigue.

Unbelievable... an error in communication led us to believe she was ready to be discharged, and we were all on our way home when they called and said she wasn't, so we had to turn back and have her stay for another night. This was after she went through the effort to dress herself and was feeling so hot that she couldn't stand anyone touching her. Meanwhile, me and my brother hadn't eaten all day, and we we're both exhausted from cleaning the house.

What a fucking day...

We've moved our mom's bed downstairs since climbing stairs is too difficult for her now. We'll be picking her up soon.

Just saw Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, which is currently on Netflix. It's genuinely an incredible movie and worth a watch. It's great to see movies like that being the ones getting all the love and success while Disney's flood of absolute garbage is losing money.

Yeah, they were definitely talking about hospice. My mom had another operation of some sort and is feeling much better. That at least takes some burden off my mind. Still don't like what we're all going through, though.

She's feeling a lot better. She was laying on her back when we visited. Apparently they drained several liters of excess fluid out of her, likely with dead cancer cells in it.

Me and my brother are gonna talk with a couple people tomorrow. Not sure about what. Maybe some kind of home care?

My mom had an operation to drain some fluid build-up in her right kidney, so she's in a lot less pain right now and slept well.

Also had a dream where I woke up to find my game systems stolen. Fuck you, brain.

We and our mutual friend visited her at the hospital, just enjoying some Seinfeld together. That's the kinda comfort we all needed. She wouldn't want us to be constantly miserable about this. The part where she's nearing the end, that's the most trying part. I believe the next 60 days will test me. I just wish I could skip to the art where she's buried and I'm at home afterwards.

My brother's thinking of renting out the basement after all is said and done, so I'd get her room. I'm hesitant to take it, but waking up to the sun and fresh air for the first time since 2015 will probably do a lot to help me heal. I just hope he's able to rent to reputable people. Last thing I need right now/in the future is my game systems getting stolen.

Part of me can't help but wonder if her staying in her room all week was to help me adjust to her not being around. If so, it's admirable, but I'd really rather not benefit from her suffering.

Think it's time to drop a bombshell. My mom has cancer. It was discovered earlier this summer when she got that operation done. Most got removed during it. For the past week, she's been in bed, not eating much, just drinking water. Her right kidney was hurting, so she had to lay on her left side.

We're... not feeling optimistic, despite my mom having faith in God to get her through this. My dad was just over with some papers about power of attorney. Me and my brother had a hug and heartfelt talk about what we'll do after she's gone.

She's an absolutely wonderful lady who deserves another decade, at least. She's grateful to have two wonderful sons who took such good care of her. It's gonna hurt badly after she's gone, but once the worst is over and the healing starts, it'll be a weight off my shoulders that she's at peace.

Mom's in the hospital again. Apparently something is up with her kidneys, and she had a doctor's appointment today anyway, so she decided to stay. I'm obviously hoping for the best from her, but stuff like this is why I haven't felt a single positive emotion in years. Whenever big changes happen, it's always for the worse.

Anyone get anything interesting for Christmas? My most exciting present was a light in the shape of the Playstation logo. You turn it on, it gradually fades from white to blue, and you press the button to make it stop at that color.

Whoever decided to up the number of Volatiles at night in Dying Light 2 was a prick. Basically a 90% chance of getting spotted if you go out at night, which is unfortunate since there's some things you can only do at night. And while you can toughen yourself up to reliably take some down, getting spotted by them basically activates a wanted level, so killing them just makes more come.

Starting a new game of Dying Light 2 during the winter event was a great idea. The event-exclusive zombies dropped all these sellable goods and presents that contain a variety of useful items and gear, so I'm pretty sure I'm much richer than I was normally meant to be. Because I have so much money, I don't have to choose whether to sell or salvage gear; it's salvage all the way, baby! That, combined with resources being dirt-cheap to buy, means I'm now swimming in money and resources, giving me pretty much all the throwing knives and molotovs I could ever want.

And while you do need enemy-exclusive drops to upgrade blueprints, that's been taken care of as well. The event had a special secondary currency and vendor who will trade that currency for said drops, so I've got a healthy stockpile of those as well.

I really hope they add an event toggle like Borderlands 3 did. I missed out on quite a few.

Man, these slippers are amazing! They're so soft and light that I sometimes forget I'm wearing them. I hope my neighbor manages to get herself a fitting pair of these.

Jeez, not only did my brother and his friend get food poisoning, but the friend's young son did as well. This kid's like 7 or 8. Getting food poisoning at that age must be horrible!

My neighbor gave me a pair of slippers. They were a Christmas present that was too big and she didn't know where to take them back. They've got this nice argyle pattern and some real soft and cozy insides. I don't care if they look like they belong to an old lady or that I have slippers already; I'm keeping them. I tried offering them to my mom, but they were too big for her, too.

Yeah, he's got food poisoning. A mutual friend of ours does, too.

Think my brother caught some stomach virus from whatever gathering/food bar he went to on New Year's Eve. If it's anything like the one I got from that Chinese chicken in 2019, I already know how to kill it. Artemisinin and a mixture of apple/grape juice and lemon juice.

Steamboat Willy '06 was the best one. Giving him a human love interest was brilliant!

Spent all of yesterday dealing with a headache and a sore spot just above my pelvic bone from where the seatbelt dug into it in the accident. Also had the theme song for Pokemon Concierge stuck in my head and can feel it trying to worm its way back in. It's a good song, but it's one that can easily wear out its welcome.

Definitely not the best start to a year I've had. This better not set a precedent.

One thing I like about the Dying Light games is how they have no shortages of places to loot. It's always been satisfying to me to clear out a bunch of hostiles from a building, then go around and loot the place clean. 2 adds a unique spin on it, because you're infected with a zombie virus that'll kill you if you don't regularly expose yourself to sunlight or UV light, and there are buildings that are full of high-tier enemies during the day, so there's a balance of risk/reward. Go in during the day, and you'll have to face down a brutal swarm, but you can always pop back out to the sun and weaker enemies. Go during the night, and the building will be easier to get through, but the streets won't reset your infection, and they'll be patrolled by really strong enemies who will relentlessly chase you.
