Amber was canceled not only because she was exposed as a liar and abuser, but also because she was always a talent-less, D-list actress playing bit roles. No one even knew who she was before Depp begged WB to give her a role. And in the movies she did appear in? Her performances were always mediocre. No one will even miss her.

Ezra also has a history of violence. What prevents him from getting fully canceled is that he is playing a major character in his own movie. Is that right? No. But that's why he is afforded more protection from cancellation.

The only thing that saved Johnny Depp was that Amber Heard turned out to be such a cartoonishly unlikable person, to a degree that couldn't be ignored.

Maybe they also thought that the idea that Thanos only loses because he self-sabotages, because he thinks he deserves to lose deep down inside wouldn't play well in a movie, and make the efforts of the heroes seem less meaningful.

I could argue that making Peach so capable in the movie made Mario being there at all seem superfluous. He never does anything that Peach couldn't do herself. They never even pay off Mario not being able to clear the obstacle course and touch the flag, which is something you're supposed to do in a movie. Setup and payoff. Mario only even wins in the end because he got the ultimate deus ex machina powerup that makes him win automatically.

It's not a very good movie overall from a narrative point, is what I'm saying.

I thought the whole thing felt more like a corporate exercise than a movie.
