please, please do not play Our World is Ended which is probably the absolute worst VN I've ever read.

Other than that, the only other games I've played on that list are World End Syndrome and Root Double, and Root Double is definitely the better one of those two.

With this game leaving PS+ Extra on Tuesday it was finally time to get through both the first game and this one, and so far I have only a few trophies left to collect (1000 enemies defeated, NG+ exclusive ending, and beat the bonus dungeon) in this one after beating it last night.

This game takes a lot of what made the first game great and throws that out the window. Gone are all the hacks you can utilize in battles, as well as any strategy using the field bugs - most don't even deal any damage to your character anymore, so you can just run over all of them in every battle, go into Glitch Mode, and just destroy the enemy. I actually turned up the difficulty to Hard for a good portion because the game was extremely easy - something that I never thought during playing the first game.

The story and exploration also takes a step back. Most of the story sections take place in a school setting, which to me is immediately less interesting than the sections with Arata in the first game. All exploration is done at night, which adds to how the game leans a bit more towards the horror genre than the first. Also to add to the horror theme there are now monsters that spawn in dungeons that chase you for a brief time. Touch it, instant game over.

All in all, the game seems to be a disappointing sequel to a great first game. NG+ seems to be goign towards a much deeper link between the two games than the first run through, so it might be more interesting when I finish it either today or tomorrow.

I've played so many Compile Heart games. This might be the one game where they finally did almost everything right.

The gameplay is great (until a lot of battles later just have damage sponge enemies everywhere, but you can easily avoid enemies). It's turn based and takes place in a circle like their Neptunia games, but adds mechanics that allow you to knock enemies around the field to deal additional damage or change the game genre to another one (such as a fighting or puzzle game) to deal damage to the opponents. It's very creative, and I even used the fighting genre shift on the final boss for some additional damage at the end. By the end I was just running from boss fight to boss fight and avoiding all other battles. I think I gained five levels on one boss fight because of this.

The story definitely went places. It was mostly a horror and sci-fi mix up to the later chapters of the game, and then the game goes completely off the rails in record time. I still enjoyed it though. Gave me some Zero Escape similarities with some of the plot twists in the ending scenes - though it would definitely be a spoiler to elaborate any more than that.

Mostly used Al, Clea, and either Celica or Lily for the third character. Whoever decided on Shina's skillset is an absolute lunatic because it makes her weapon completely useless, and Lucil dies to a stiff breeze in almost every boss fight. To be honest though I found the Reality scenes more intriguing than anything that happened in World's Odyssey, and I also liked the characters in the Reality sections more as the World's Odyssey characters mostly fit common fantasy tropes.

Anyway, going to move on and play the sequel as it leaves PS+ Extra in ten or so days so BYE
