The first time I took it man.. I will never forget it. I felt super focused and motivated. First thing I did was clean my car. That feeling lasted for like a week but obviously not as strong as the first 2-3 days. I actually tried taking half the prescription by cutting it and only taking it once a day. Half prescription didn't help a whole lot. But I still take 10mg (regular prescription) once a day. It's common for people to up their medication, which I don't want to do. I don't want to be too reliant on it. For a time I would not take it on weekends, but now if I don't take it, I feel more unmotivated than normal (I usually am a coach potato on weekends outside gym).

It's crazy how long it takes to get out of the house..

I know it was TC who said ama, but I didn't really have a question until I saw this. What sort of small tasks couldn't you focus on before that you can now?

I'm honestly just unsure what ADHD is like and I wonder just how limiting it is. What's happening in your head when you can't focus, you just think of a hundred different things at once, or?

One thing everyone should know is that there's three types that fall under ADHD. Inattentive, Hyperactive, or a combination of both. Back then inattentive was called "ADD," but now it falls under the new definition of ADHD which is an umbrella for inattentive and Hyperactivity.

To be diagnosed, you need to go to a psychiatrist. They ask you a series of questions on order to properly diagnose you. You need to have it when you were young. Everyone with ADHD does. It doesn't just suddenly appear as an adult (symptoms usually do get better as you are older actually).

Anyway common symptoms that I have (I'm mostly inattentive

-interrupting others speak/cutting them off.
-impulsive
-making careless mistakes
-difficulty remembering things short term
-feeling unmotivated/lazy
-disorganized
-procrastinating
getting destracted too easily
-trouble with finishing tasks after starting
-poor planning and time management skills
-poorer executive unction overall

My medication has helped me a lot. So much that it's hard to remember how my life was before it when I took it two years ago.

ADHD can drastically effect your relationships with people and your performance at work. So imagine having problems listening to people for a longer period of time, cutting them off to say something and/or trouble retaining what they say, and then you are impulsive and do something they tell you not to or make careless mistakes.

After being diagnosed I came becoming a Mediocre employee to a top performer and also really organized and motivated. I also was able to retain information and think things through before acting. I was able to prioritize goals and finish them instead of leaving them unfinished.

It wasn't a complete 180 for me though. I still interrupt people every now and then (I am aware), I have my impulsive moments and make careless mistakes with documentation, and I do have some occasional trouble with time management.

Besides the prescription treatment, what really helped me was to write goals I need to complete for the day. Having a good night's sleep and consistently also helps tremendously.

I think one side effect of taking the medication is that when I'm not on it (on the weekends), I feel really unmotivated. Doesn't help if I sleep in. I only take it once a day, instead of the prescribed two.

@Unsuprised_Pika give it a shot. Get properly diagnosed and go from there . I kinda wish I got on it sooner. Like in college. If you are insured, it's not expensive at all. I pay like $10 for each bottle that's supposed to last me a month, but I make it last 2 months. The med shortages isn't that bad. There a lot of genetics and they are effective.

Psychiatrists are the best to diagnose your son. They differ from psychologists in the sense that that they are medical doctors and they prescribe you with medicine or other forms of treatment ost psychologists can't) They also understand conditions from a biological and neuro chemical perspective.

Psychologists are better for psychotherapy. They can help with cognitive and behavioral stuff.

The psychiatrists will ask a series of questions to you and your son related to ADHD and it will determine a diagnosis and treatment after.

Topic38-year-old gets 78 years in prison after shooting her kids
Arcanine2009

She shot her 15 and 5-year-old daughters to death in Virginia after inducing them with melatonin-laced gummy bears. Veronica Youngblood did it because of a custody dispute with the father, who initially was going to take both kids with him but agreed to take the younger one. After being shot, The 15-year-old was alive long enough to call 9/11 and tell dispatchers that her mother had hit her. During the trial, after jurors heard a recording of that call, some were traumatized enough to ask if they could receive trauma therapy.

https://tinyurl.com/msnmothergets78

The mother said she was an good mother to her kids in court, but something snapped. She said she grew up in poverty, was sexually abused as a kid, and did sex work to support the eldest daughter.

The defense team was trying to lower the sentence to 42. The father was in trial but concealed himself in the courtroom, so she couldn't see him because he couldn't look at her for causing all of this, knowing that she had a lot of hate towards him.

All I gotta say is.. Fuck this shit. This is the kind of shit that makes me want to support the health penalty. You have animosity towards the father, so you selfishly take it out on the kids as if it's some way to get back at him. I call bullshit on being a "good mother." The father hiding himself in court is weird too.

For me it is two things. The questions one asks, and the humor the person finds funny. I pretty much know everything about a persons character based on those two things.
Can you go more in detail about the humor? I don't think sense of humor on its own determines if someone is bad (at least without context and more info on the person). Everyone goes through somewhat different to vastly different life experiences and finds certain things funny. Different humor is cultural, and a lot of humor (dark humor) also comes as a coping mechanism from trauma as well.

Nurses will joke about morbid stuff. But without knowing them really, you wouldn't know them.

What I do find to be one red flag though if a person tell someone making a joke that they aren't funny when they are giving a harmless joke (like a dad joke).

An obvious red flag is if someone jokes about killing or harming others.

Someone mentioned using humor to frequently put down others also

If he only gets 3 out of 5000, he is probably doing something really wrong with his profile and/or he really narrowed down his settings.

I might swipe 25-50 times a day at the most and I get one match per week. So maybe 1 match out of 100-350 swipes a week. Granted that's not a lot but any means. I'm not in the 10% and most matches I get I'm not attracted to.

Coffee Meets Bagel is better if he's looking for a relationship.

In general I'd highly recommend getting a subscription with dating apps too, cause the free ones are rigged to get you less noticed.

Unfortunately we have a lot around here, and some try to be subtle, so you may confuse an appropriate dismissal with arrogance.

I don't think it's worth my time to respond to every troll who will, with a shit eating grin, "innocently" ask a question with particular implications.

Like it or not, CE is very right-wing in comparison to your average community of 20-40 year old highly educated people. And many of them get their rocks off trying to make left wing people look crazy and aggressive by repeatedly doing the same schtick of innocently asking the same questions over and over again, hoping that onlookers will view the response as disproportionate and crazy.

I would say the majority of my posts are pretty positive and light hearted. Trolls just grasp onto the times when I've had enough of playing their stupid games.
