I was involved quite a bit in Gen 1, and then from Gen 4 through basically 8 I would play daily on PBS and then on Showdown.

However, Gen 9 is garbage and I don't care for any of the new mechanics and all the like, "Here is a version of a Pokemon but it has a different typing! We will call it Rillavroom cause it's Rillaboom but also a car!!!"

Gen 8 already wasn't great competitive, and this just feels wholly unsatisfying.

A lot more no than yes for such a nice guy.

Hell even in-universe, Admiral Thrawn shows this idea to be false. Effective villains are captivating and interesting.

In supplementary stories, EU stuff, Vader is shown to be an unbelievable badass. He is an absolutely horrifying beast of a force user. Even when he is confined to the suit, he is still frighteningly powerful. Rogue One shows that really well, that he can be just a force of nature. Episodes 2 and 3 show what he is capable of doing.

The reason he is bested/fought fairly even by other Jedi, ESPECIALLY Obi-Wan, is the fact that the part of Anakin Skywalker that remains wants to lose. He wants to be punishes, he wants to be defeated, he wants to be humbled, he wants to be freed of Darth Vader. In the Obi-Wan show it really shows that Anakin and Darth Vader are essentially two different people living in the same body. It's the reason why Vader takes responsibility for Anakin became. "You did not kill Anakin Skywalker... I did". Sure part of that is some arrogance that has always been part of Anakin/Darth Vader, but I believe this was both an arrogance play as well as that part of Anakin wanting to free Obi-Wan from any responsibility. Anakin tries to fight off the influence of Darth Vader continually and believing he cannot truly take control again, will try to ensure Darth Vader dies in battle somehow, to someone.

What's this show about and should I watch it with my wife?

The original S1 from like 2003 was a cartoon about world leaders being cloned by a shadowy organization to eventually take over the world. The dude put in charge however is kinda nuts (Mr. Scudworth) and has his own plans to use them.

It was one of the first projects from Lord and Miller and it has their sense of humor for sure.
