Funny you should say that. Star Ocean was the first game the Tales producer worked on before splintering off to go work on the Tales series with Namco. As for the port of the first game, it was for all intents and purposes a 2D remake of the original to make it play more like Star Ocean 2. It's a pretty good game. Not that long. I recommend it. I should go back and beat it.

Not entirely sure which, but wouldn't be surprised if it's just a straight-up port of the PSP game. I've been waiting for so long. Just makes no sense how the first game got a port to everything, but the second one's been languishing on the PSP despite being widely regarded as the best Star Ocean game.
