WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - On Sunday, Nov. 12, the Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Office responded to a stabbing on Old Natchitoches Road.

According to OPSO, the 66-year-old victim received numerous stab wounds after he and his friend, Kendale J. Liles, got into a fight over toilet paper.

When questioned by authorities, the victim stated that the altercation started when Liles began arguing about the lack of toilet paper in the bathroom. The victim claimed that he was sitting in a chair cutting the tags off his clothes with a folding knife when Liles went into his bedroom and grabbed a machete.

Allegedly, Liles then threatened the victim.

According to the affidavit, the victim stood up and a fight ensued. The victim received numerous lacerations and stab wounds to his upper shoulder and neck area, as well as a severe gash to the back of his head while trying to exit the front door. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Kendale admitted to authorities that the fight started over toilet paper, according to OPSO.

Kendale was arrested and charged with aggravated second-degree battery. His bond was set for $100,000.

just feels super vague, especially for a government position.

what does it mean to join a group? Who is determining when the language of the group becomes hate?

I dont see how this can be enforced at all

Association, affiliation and membership can be established by texts, emails, documents, phone calls, paraphernalia (including tattoos) and other ways, including cell phone GPS data. Law enforcement does this all the time with gangs and the mafia.

If the FBI & DHS consider a group a hate group, the other levels of government do too, for purposes of prosecution and sentence enhancement.

If there are beings capable of making it to earth, they just want to observe things here in its native habitat, like going on a safari. They don't really want to engage with anything too much, and they damn sure don't want any of our shit in their home.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) called fellow GOP Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.) a pussy Tuesday after he attacked her for lacking the maturity and experience to understand the proper way to bring an impeachment vote against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Greene included a meme of former President Trump saying, She said hes a pussy. The meme was a response to another post from her official House X account, which also attacked Issa.

Darrell Issa is right, I am a hardworking member of Congress who puts the American people first. But we all know what Darrell Issa lacks, Greene posted, before including emojis of five different sports balls.

Issa had defended himself Tuesday morning against criticism especially from Greene for his vote to punt the impeachment measure on Mayorkas back to committee. He had joined seven other Republicans and Democrats in voting against the measure Monday.

Asked what he, as a seasoned member of Congress, thinks of Greenes plan to bring a privileged resolution on a Mayorkas impeachment, Issa attacked her maturity and experience.

The history of privileged resolutions is that theyre brought by the majority leader or the minority leader. Privileged resolutions are not have not historically been brought by one member. And when they do come from one member, theyre most often referred to committee, as it was yesterday, he said.

You know, look, Marjorie Taylor Greene is a hardworking member of Congress. But she, I believe, she lacks the maturity and the experience to understand what she was asking for, and how ill prepared we would have been to do it on short notice on the floor, he continued.

Issa defended his vote to punt the impeachment measure, noting that the other GOP members who did so are mostly seasoned chairs or former chairs with years of experience on the way these actions typically proceed. He said he would be open to such an impeachment vote, as long as it goes through the process.

We all recognize that doing this in regular order is the right thing to do. And impeachment in the Committee of the Whole with no notice would be simply chaos, he said, referring to the prospect of bringing impeachment to the House floor.

If theres a case to be made for impeachment of anyone, it needs to be done in a deliberative fashion, he said. If it comes over to Judiciary for the execution, I serve on that committee, and I have no problem with us doing it. I have a problem with us doing it poorly, especially when we know that most times these things are dead on arrival on partisan basis in the Senate.

That was pretty funny. Cheers.

Millenials are becoming the new Boomers: the generation that gets blamed for not making things better for their successors. Whereas the Boomers brushed it off as laziness, the Millenials will hurt because they thought they were better than that.

Meanwhile, Gen X just continue to sit at the back of the class and shrug disinterestedly if anyone looks in their direction.

Miles Davis, among others said that one of the key attributes of being "cool" is understanding that a lot of the shit people want you to be interested in really doesn't matter, and isn't worth getting worked up about.

The thing I see most is that gen z (not all of them of course) seem to think theyre the ones who made and get internet culture and millennials are lame for trying to get in on it. It does somewhat amuse me millennials get butthurt about that because I know fully well many of us think we did the same when gen x laid the groundwork for that and was already making internet culture when it was a very young invention. If anything I think that gens x/y/z/a have more in common with eachother than all the generations before them and we shouldnt really focus on the differences.

It seems y/z/a are the most focused on the generational differences. Xers are cynical enough to see that generational differences don't really change human nature.

This sounds like a good thing.

It's straightforward logic. The Preamble to the Constitution states one of the purposes of the US government is to promote "the general welfare" of the people.

If there's evidence that vaccines work - and there overwhelmingly is - then a vaccine mandate, especially during a pandemic, is easily defensible under that clause of the Constitution.

In declining to hear the case, the SCOTUS just reaffirmed basic Constitutional law.

https://www.newsweek.com/supreme-court-covid-vaccine-case-new-jersey-nurses-1843530

The U.S. Supreme Court rejected to hear an appeal relating to COVID-19 vaccine requirements in the workplace, dealing a blow to vaccine skeptics across the nation.

On Tuesday morning, the Supreme Court orders list showed that it was denying to hear any further arguments in the case Katie Sczesny, et al. v. Murphy, Gov. of New Jersey, et al. The case focused on four New Jersey nurses who filed a lawsuit against New Jersey's COVID-19 vaccine requirements in the workplace, citing religious freedom and health concerns.

The Supreme Court did not provide any further explanation for its refusal to hear the case, but the decision allows a ruling in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit to stand. The lower court ruled that the vaccine mandate challenged by the nurses did not violate their Constitutional freedoms and allowed an executive order from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to stay in place.

Newsweek reached out to lawyers for the state of New Jersey and Murphy via email for comment.

"We are disappointed the Supreme Court did not take up this issue now, but hope that it will take up this question soon, whether in this case after final judgment or another case. We need our highest Court to provide guidance on this important question of liberty before another pandemic and another emergency vaccine," Dana Wefer, a lawyer for the four nurses who filed the lawsuit, told Newsweek on Tuesday.

The decision by the Supreme Court on Tuesday comes as some Americans have continued to question the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine and past requirements for workers to be inoculated during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In April of last year, the four nurses, Katie Sczesny, Jamie Rumfield, Debra Hagen, and Mariette Vitti, filed a lawsuit against the state of New Jersey, arguing that executive orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine booster requirements were unconstitutional.

Because it's been shown that warm-looking, inviting aesthetics like what they used to have make it more likely for people to sit down in the restaurant to eat their food there, which means you've already bought everything you intended to eat and are now taking up space that could be used to contain waiting customers who haven't yet paid (and who might just go somewhere else if there aren't any open parking spots or room for them to sit down while they wait). Conversely, a sterile and cold-looking environment makes it more likely that you'll buy your food and then get the hell out, which is more efficient for them as it leaves more room for customers to wait to take their orders and pay.

Makes sense to me. If walls could talk, the place feels like it's saying "get your shit and go". I find myself eating in the car more often than inside.
