Losing the LED light was a big one for me. I always just glanced at the phone to see if the light was blinking, rather than having to pick up the phone to see if there is a text. Obviously it was taken out to give more screen, but I would rather just have the light.

Yeah I definitely prefer the blinking lights, rather than having the phone screen be always on or pick it up to check texts.

At this rate I'm glad they didn't remove like... I dunno, the flashlight as well, but I wouldn't put it past them at the trajectory they're going.

That comes across like one of those people who during Sony ps3 gen 7 would have been like "you don't need rumble" and would praise removal of standardized features that improve consumer experience of tech products.

Just bit of a bold statement to make. Also find it hard to believe that you can hold the phone that's all screen without the tips of your fingers or palm accidentally brushing on the phone. Like I'm trying to swipe and it won't register, until I realize it's because a tiny sliver of my hand is on the top of the phone which is now all touch screen. So apparently you now need to hold your phone with your fingertips in a pinch like gesture? Just extremely uncomfortable to hold. Gonna see if a case fixes that at least.

I recently tried upgrading from an S9+ to S23+ . I legitimately thought lack of soundjack would be my biggest dealbreaker. Oh how naive I was.

The S23:

1) Doesn't have a hard press button to go to the home screen from any app like s9 and what came before

2) Doesn't even have LED light, such a simple thing that makes a world of difference, from the red charging light indicator to the blue text light to the green missed call light and so on. Why remove what was a nice convenience?

3) The entire phone is just screen, no bezels whatsoever. Worse, they literally put the front camera in the middle of the fucking screen. What is this shit? Distracting as hell

4) The power button and volume control button are on the same side. They really couldn't have put them on opposite ends?

And this is just at a glance. I can't even imagine what other features they must have removed. Gone are the days of the S5, the phone that made me switch from Apple to Samsung because of all the improvements it had as a smartphone.

Just a question about the plot. So Doc Ock knew the whole time that Peter Parker was Spiderman? He was just pretending to be an idiot and make the bizarre logical leap that Peter isn't spiderman, just the guy who designs spidey's suit/gadgets?

Just beat this game last month myself. I chose Kassandra because I was told she was the canon choice, and after I realized how exactly they incorporated Kass and Alex characters into the story, it makes waaay more sense to go with Kass, because Alex as Deimos just works way better with his ridiculously over the top VA

I'm not crazy about choose your character or character creation though in games, I avoid wrpg for that reason the story always suffers. And this is especially true for Odyssey compared to the much better Origins, even though I like Kass.

Never mind we still play as Spidey cool. With all my gadgets intact. I couldn't help being reminded of when we'd play as Catwoman in Arkham City's opening when I saw Black Cat featured on the DLC page and thought Spiderman was doing the same thing.

It's ok. Kinda tasted like what I remember burger king tasting like a decade ago. The one I cooked at home tasted better than the one I had from a restaurant.

I tried combining a beef patty with a beyond patty, was a fun interesting mix. Also tried a bean burger patty with a beyond patty, I like to mix it up sometimes.

Oh yeah there's still more game to play I forgot about the DLC! Hell yeah I wasn't anywhere near ready to say goodbye to the game yet. After spending 6 months on the bloated AC Odyssey, I kinda got used to spending half a year on just one game.

Starting Black Cat now. These DLC, do you play as those respective characters on the cover or it just happens to be about them.

I'm not new to DLC, only to Nintendo/Switch type DLC since the Wii didn't have it nor did I have to pay for online.

With Sony and ps3/ps4 at least they constantly had sales where entire game collections dropped to like $20 with all DLC included.

But it's one thing to charge that price for an actual game like mario or zelda, but for... just a bunch of playable characters and 1 or 2 new stages they're charging the price of an entire game? The fuck? Am I missing something the product description isn't saying? This goes beyond just "the Nintendo tax"

I love okami. The comparison to tp was apt at the time because of the wolf and the mild puzzles in okami's "dungeons" but okami has a lot more focus on combat than puzzles, the inverse of Zelda. It does have a lot of exploration though

I rebought okami for the switch but it turns out even that version has the end credits removed so it'll just sit there in my collection gathering dust

I stopped doing shut downs like years ago, I always just put PC in sleep mode. I honestly don't know if that's better for the pc or worse.

If reboots and restarts are the same thing, then the pc is constantly restarting because of goddamn windows updates that forcefully restart pc, or the stupid nvidia geforce application on my pc that's constantly downloading "new drivers" and demanding I restart to install.

2018 must have been Sony's year with these straight fire games.

Wish they'd just reveal all the secret photo locations on the map now that I've beat the game, the suit upgrade only shows it on the minimap.

I do have to admit, I'm not crazy about the stealth sections. I get it, designing a spidey game with so many fun aspects is already a challenge, they were bound to break up the gameplay with something less than stellar like this. I'm already thankful for how surprisingly fun and not obtuse the research stations are, a great way to do side missions and expand on the story/universe with spiderman that extend beyond "get that kid's balloon!"

Spectacular of course. It completely got screwed over by the disney marvel sony rights after the disney marvel acquisition deal. In typical Greg Weisman show fashion, another great animated series bites it at season 2.

I really love this game. We got the best spiderman cartoon over a decade ago, and now we finally have unequivocally the best spiderman game. The fact that I actually crack up at spiderman's quips as I'm trying to bash enemies is a testament to how lovingly crafted this game is.

So the best spider suit is clearly the celshaded one right, I absolutely love it. Even worth wasting an entire skill slot just to hear spidey taunting the bad guys.

Final question. As someone who likes the genre, how is strikers compared to something like Hyrule warriors? As in, does completing the content have any tangible benefit to changing gameplay? or is it small changes/cosmetic.

All I can say is, as someone who has never liked dynasty warriors type games, I absolutely loved persona 5 strikers. It's nothing like those dw games. It's basically a sequel to p5 and I love it way more than the royal portion. While that hyrule breath of the wild warriors game was basically just another reskinned warriors with high production values, p5 strikers definitely does not play like a dynasty warriors (at least, you'll definitely lose if you try to play it that way). It only looks that way in the first 5 minutes of the game and then you realize it's just a straight up condensed sequel to Persona 5 that's super fun and not to spoil too much, but basically provided what I felt was missing from regular Persona 5.

I can't praise it enough, it was just fun from start to finish. Definitely worth getting

Also that problem you have with the overpraising of Makoto is unfortunately a quite common trope in Japanese media that I've noticed in anime too. Persona does have a few missteps with the writing that I wish I could improve, but overall it is pretty much the only "traditional" turn based jrpg I'll ever play now. Or jrpg in general besides Ys. I haven't liked anything else, with most of the recent jrpgs neither improving in story/gameplay/writing from the 90s/early 2000s era and if anything, regressing. With only 1 or 2 standouts I can recall off the top of my head.

And I really wish they handled the Ryuji/Morgana thing much better. It came off entirely mean-spirited and unappealing and a better approach would have been "friends ribbing each other" where they include scenes like if someone else started to rag on Morgana, Ryuji would immediately leap to defend him like in a sort of older brother role, or a scene where morgana rescues Ryuji from some danger scenario in a "show don't tell" that he cares sort of way which makes their constant bickering actually charming and not off-putting.

Are you implying you like Haru most? She appears so late game and in what many describe as the worst arc because of the above so that's rather surprising. I was hoping for someone sassier when I saw her in the original P5 intro and she was quite bland to be frank. Honestly the characters this time around weren't as strong as the previous game's but P5 makes up for it by just oozing style from every corner. And the music. Good god the music. Topping P3 and 4 seemed nigh impossible. Loved this game's soundtrack.

I mean I do agree with you that "akechi" was improved in the Royal portion of the game, if we concede that's Akechi and not a figment of joker's imagination. But boy did I hate the psychiatrist dude. Disliked him from the moment of his introduction, not knowing he was a royal addition, and definitely hated him when he came barging back into the story. He's definitely the Mari of this game, ironic that it's not the new redhead. I'm just not a fan of these types of villains/antagonists, the misguided "heart's in the wrong place" types. People whined that p5 was a slog near the end but I never felt that way at all, not until the specific Royal portion which felt a bit tacked on tbh.

Still I had a blast being so overpowered in the final portion. I sometimes like the 3rd transformation of the party members' personas. I love when my party becomes so broken that I actually have to take it easy on the bosses just to hear the rest of their dialogue. Feels good to run circles around what is supposed to be a "godlike being" and me just completely crushing him with joker almost singlehandedly

Damn you beat a game that took me 4 months to beat in just 2 weeks? You musta been straight rushin hehe. Really liked that game. I found out that everything I loved about this game (at least gameplay wise) was a Royal addition, so I honestly don't even know how vanilla P5 was playable. I never got to play vanilla P5, it was sitting in my backlog for years and then Royal came out so I got that instead to play. Everything I loved about Royal wasn't in the original game, to the point where my perception of things is completely changed (eg I learned that everyone whines about Morgana telling you to go to bed, something I didn't even notice and thought weird that others did and harped on)

One thing I will say is that I liked vanilla P5's ending more than Royal. Disliked Royal's ending and really the entire Royal portion/premise, plus I've never been particularly crazy about Akechi at all. In fact, I- oh you haven't played the previous Persona games? Never mind.

I've noticed this being pretty common, people starting with P5 and going backwards, not starting with P3 and 4? Wonder why.

Overall, I like Persona 5 Royal gameplay with Persona 5 vanilla story.

I really like the theory that apparently toad was going to have this really lame very early comic book movies gimmick of spouting random toad facts every time he's on screen taunting the xmen, which got cut but they forgot to cut the final line where storm throws the line back in his face before zapping him.

On the other hand, seeing comments unironically saying they want gale or sidney to be the next ghostface "because they snapped" is such a huge derp moment that I'm glad most fan theories are dismissed. Like the series may be dumb, but come on. I'd rather watch the Stu's ghost/progeny theory rather than that. Plus Scream 4 was already kinda that, Sid's niece and all.

I like the analysis that the original Scream movies were meant to satirize horror movie themes and tropes, while these new sequels are satirizing Scream movies themselves.

You know looking back it's kinda crazy how the game starts in the most hectic way possible, taking down fisk. Didn't even give me time to find my bearings, and I'm off to take down the biggest crime boss in the city. They must have known how typical gamers hate starting slow and want to be in the thick of it from the get go.

Yet with the way the city is now even that seems low stakes. It suddenly shot up in difficulty, giving me Infamous 1 vibes and memories.

Oh wow I got the "take no damage" on the 2nd try. That was lucky. Immediately saved.

Huh funnily enough now it's actually the other objectives that I'm having trouble with, like this one "air throw 6 enemies". I keep having trouble air throwing enemies in the heat of the moment, it just takes such a long time to websling them while simultaneously avoiding shots from the rest of them.

It's times like these I kinda wish it was even more like Arkham and there was a gun disabler gadget. Would be so nice to have the sable agents attempt to shoot at me, and be confused why their guns don't work, while I'm doing the objectives for crime tokens before I take out the enemies my way.

Oh also a pretty hidden thing is when you're on the ground, you can find red newspaper dispensers and there are 50 unique papers to read/collect. Also the photo challenges are MUCH easier when you figure how to just do it mid swing instead of landing and taking out your camera etc

Wait you land? I thought you were supposed to take it mid swing just like the shows/movies and try to do it as coolly as possible? Huh just landing and taking my camera out didn't even cross my mind until just now, gonna do that from now on lol. And here I was going out of my way to do backflips and swinging tricks before getting the shot in frame to take it, thank god they give such a large margin for error.

Also yeah I want to comment on this newspaper thing. I found a couple in the beginning of the game when I was playing and was like "how come there aren't any markers on the map for them" I don't know why they're making them tediously hidden like this like a ps2 era game because I'd rather just know where the object is, collect it and keep up the feedback loop since they're a fun little read and easter egg.

Also there are hidden photo shoots too that are unmarked. I randomly take photos of things that look cool, and saw a wall painting of vulture on a building. Thinking it looked nice I took a photo, and bam it showed me "1 of ___ secret photos"

Don't know if there's an even 3rd hidden thing.

I was gonna say those both actually annoy me, I'd rather they just have them on the map but assumed that maybe they'll appear after a gadget upgrade or even beating the game so held off on criticizing them. I don't mind Assassin's Creed-like collectathons as long as they are A) easy to find with just straight up object markers everywhere on the map and sensor like the backpacks, and B) contribute to skill gain or level gain or something interesting.

What's not fun is wandering around aimlessly trying to find stuff aka n64/ps1 era collectathons. I prefer knowing exactly where to go, and then going to it not directly but in a roundabout way, exploring everything around it in usually a circular pattern.
