So the chair I sit in when using my desktop... it may be on its way to the big furniture store in the sky.

I have a tendency to lean a bit towards my right when sitting in it (multiple screens) and last night something just happened and something on the inside must have broke because it just lost the ability to stay level and so it just gets noticeably crooked and uncomfortable. I have no doubt how I've sat in it for years now caused it but dang that chair made it like 15 years lol.

godspeed chair. godspeed.

This is like that thing where not everyone can picture full images in their heads I guess. I just can't understand not being able to tell instantly what framerate something is running at just like I can't understand how some people can't vividly picture that juicy red apply in their heads whenever they want.
what if i told you i can't really distinguish between 30 and 60 fps AND i can't picture things in my head like that

i envy that world

Maybe if you had me switch between 30 and 60 on a toggle I could tell better but in general I don't think I do. I do notice (and hate) when a framerate is unstable and I can tell the difference between 20 FPS (Ocarina of Time) and 30+. I think I'm slightly better at telling the visual side of it compared to inputs though. Like I think I have a very vague sense of the visual refreshing but the input shit? nah man that's beyond me i just push buttons and stuff happens y'know

Zelda: Wrapped up the side quests (except the one that requires diamonds. I didn't even have one let alone the... three, I think it needs lol) in Rito Village and the minigames that opened before heading off to get the new quest from Josha.

i'm not buying that kohga survived that fall. nope. if link suffers fall damage i want fairness here. I got Autobuild though and that seems like a worthwhile reward. Seems a little weird that I think both the construct who gives you autobuild and Josha seem to be telling you the exact same thing in terms of "oh there's another chain of statues that goes southwest" when the construct basically says "sounds like that's where kohga meant" while Josha is like "who knows it's a mystery!!!" but eh.

While my ultimate destination is now Hateno Village to follow Robbie for my upgrades, I'll end up stopping by Kakariko on the way since it's an adjoining area and I have other quest/plot hooks there so it'll probably be a bit before I make it to Robbie. Also have two last loose ends I want to wrap up before my journey begins - back while I was exploring the castle I remember running into that one cook. It wasn't a quest but it sounded like something would happen if I cooked the meal he was talking about. I didn't have the ingredients then but I think I do now so I'll see what happens. And then I also think I'll drop by the Forbidden Temple for Impa's quest even though I think it's very technically in a different zone, it feels like an edge case.

We'll see where it stands after that but in terms of the main main areas - plot seems to favor Goron City but in terms of where I'd like to go it'd be Zora > Gerudo > (Rito) > Goron but that's quite a ways off so we'll see what changes by the time I get all of the above stuff done.

What basis would the government have to intervene in the fight between them however? I can see why they're looking at the merger/alliance/whatever they want to call it because of anti-trust but before that?

Like, yeah, LIV/the PIF clearly just used the fact they have considerably more money than the PGA to entangle them in legal disputes because the PGA would go broke first in such a fight and thus forced them to capitulate but as scummy as that is I don't think the government has a cause to weigh in there.

LIV as an actual golf league was flopping hard, they simply could throw enough money out to overwhelm the PGA and "win" that way.

The whole thing is shitty and somehow I find myself on the PGA's side despite how bad their policies towards the players were because the whole LIV thing is even grosser.

Hillary handles COVID better feels like a given but it's not like she could have stopped it and I think states with GOP governors rebel even harder against any lockdown or restrictions which may well undo the rest of the benefits having competent federal leadership and preparedness would give. Definitely gets blown out in 2020 because pendulum effect + pandemic would be catastrophic.

Not sure if Trump makes the salty runback though if he loses in the first place. The toxicity he would have supercharged the GOP would still exist and been overcharged with COVID but I don't know for sure he runs again in this hypothetical. Not that his replacement would be likely to be much better.

So I voted Gore > Bush for the butterfly effect/climate change/"the timeline diverged here" reasons along with thinking that by the time the 2016 general came around Trump had already done enough lasting damage that would continue past even had he lost, but upon some more thought I think the margin of victory might matter. If you give us a Clinton blowout in 2016 - like 49 states/Reagan blowout - it's possible that might have broken the fever.

Zelda: Wind Temple beated.

So I actually discovered it before going to find Tulin/following up on the Rito questline but bailed because I wasn't sure I'd be missing story stuff by doing it this way. Turns out I was worried for nothing and you need his unique ability to actually clear the temple for it but yeah.

I do wonder if some of the story scenes on the way are missable though because in theory I could have just warped most of the travel out but I decided to make the trek again just in case and was rewarded with some story scenes. Not sure what, if anything, would have happened if I teleported all/most of the way back there.

Pretty similar to the Divine Beasts though and I'm not sure how to feel about that if only because it felt like the pre-release hype cycle was pushing me in the direction of it not being that but oh well. Boss was neat as well.

Stopped shortly after clearing it though - will probably check a few places that I expect will have changed now that the blizzard is stopped then head back to base and check in on Robbie and Purah.

Uh, I don't think that's true even if you restrict it to just "the West."

Afghanistan was more or less supported globally. But Iraq was a very different animal outside the US. It was basically the US, UK, Australia, Spain and a handful of other countries (mostly Eastern Europe I want to say?) opposed by France, Germany, Russia, China, India, Canada, Mexico, etc.

The US had to back out of proposing it to the UN because it was made clear that they couldn't get a 60% vote on the Security Council (I don't think it was ever certain they had more than 4 out of 15 votes actually) and knew that if the UN actively voted down an invasion of Iraq it'd be a tougher sell so they just ignored them entirely instead.

Hell, I'd wager global support was more against Iraq than for at the time of the invasion. And this is all putting aside ripple effect stuff like "would Gore really have pushed for his admin to straight up lie to the UN and American people to invade Iraq?" I can accept an argument that Afghanistan was more or less inevitable if we're working under the assumption that 9/11 still happens but again that was the invasion the world largely supported.

Zelda: I didn't lie! I went to Rito Village like I said I would, but now they have me going to objectives in this area so I activated the tower and now I've got a whole new area to explore before getting back on track! >_>

Definitely over halfway through that I'd say. This has been true the whole time but one of the last things I did was fight a Frost Talus to get a Shrine Crystal so it's on my mind but enemies seem to hit a lot harder here than they did in BOTW. At least I certainly don't remember getting hit for 5-6+ heart damage to get one-shot (although I wonder if there's a kind of pity invincibility if you're at full health or something because I noticed that if and only if I was at 5 (and now 6) hearts I would survive certain attacks with a quarter heart. I guess they could have been doing 4.75 and then later 5.75 heart damage but it feels suspicious.

Anyway at Rito Village I guess BOTW Rito helper became chief. If this weren't Zelda I'd wonder if the old chief died or something similarly dark but it *is* Zelda and I eventually found the old chief at the Flight Range. Also because this is Zelda new chief's son will be proven right instead of going out to his doom. I may have played too many soulsborne games lately if that's where my mind keeps heading lol.

Also on the more fun side, I appreciate some of these shrines giving me ideas I never considered - particularly fusing rockets to shields that was awesome lol. That also gave me the idea to put a fan on a shield to hopefully make future sailboats easier to manage. Though if it's anything like flamethrower shields it might just break too fast to be of much help that way. And there I thought I found a nice way to be able to melt ice without wasting items but the shields don't last long.

the devs didn't want you to be able to manage inventory during the middle of a battle.
Probably this. If pausing stopped the action I suppose you could manipulate armor choices and equip weight in combat so that if you're going to take a hit you can swap to heavy armor/better resistances and then switch back to light armor after so you can still fast roll and stuff.

I know the natural response would probably be "well just disable equipment swaps in combat" but outside of bosses I don't know that the game really distinguishes combat from non-combat as a state to do that.

But put me on team "it doesn't really matter." As mentioned you can usually find relatively safe places to wait (or use the plentiful items including the infinite use one to forcibly warp yourself to such a spot.) And if you can't (there have been times I was interrupted and didn't have the opportunity to ensure I was definitely safe) just take the risk. A death isn't going to hurt you too much in almost all cases and you will respawn somewhere safe.

2000? Dear god. Gacha is, indeed, bad civ.
Yeah, you missed the tragedy of Imaginary Scramble in Discord lol.

I had started my LB6 savings like 18 months ago because you know, planning. But I fell in love with Van Gogh during Imaginary Scramble and was like, "Look I've got 1200 SQ, we've got like a year until LB6 so that's what? Another 1200ish? 300-400 isn't going to kill me here."

...and then i went on tilt in sheer disbelief that my luck could be that bad and went broke chasing van gogh.

For extra trolling, they announced the early implementation of pity like 3 weeks after. So another 550 on Morgan today and in between there was a relatively merciful upgrade of Spishtar from NP2 to NP3 during the SW2 rerun that was like 250 SQ.

Oh, wait, correction here. 3 rate-up SSRs in... maybe 2100 SQ?, I forgot I rolled on the Abigail banner that they added for the NA Server in IS after that debacle and got her. I blacked out most of the time surrounding that Van Gogh banner so I forgot initially. >_>

Yeah, I got like NP11 CasCu. >_>

Also the "Morgan has a ton of banners" thing feels overblown. She has three reruns as of now. But I mean Melusine and Koyanskaya both have 2. Really it's just the timing of Morgan's banners that's kinda meme-y and really just that the turnaround to her first rerun is so quick. It's actually not too nuts after that. You take away that first rerun and I think the entire narrative changes.

I mean, I still 100% regret my lack of impulse control but that's more on the timing front. I knew damn well this was a bad idea but I did it anyway. Of course the original sin here remains my "1200 SQ and get a single Vlad III" during Imaginary Scramble. That was my downfall and everything else just rippled from there.

But god, in my last ~2000 SQ on banners I have gotten two rate-up SSRs over three banners. gacha is a scourge.

Gacha is bad civ.

540 SQ:
NP1 Morgan
NP2 FK Tristan
NP1 FK Gawain
Altera (if Morgan came at this point everything would have been fine)
Tsuna
Lan Ling (NP2)

770ish SQ remaining. Currently in a "so done with this" midstate where I think I just YOLO Melusine, Koyanskaya, and Oberon as they come now since I already ruined my plan to wait for the anniversary duo. All I had to do was wait another 1-2 months and this all could have probably worked out as I planned but noooooooo.

Average-ish luck + Anniversary Quartz could see me through it but I'm not exactly holding high hopes. I'm basically in a 2000 SQ dry spell stretching all the way back to when 1200 SQ failed to get Van Gogh back during Imaginary Scramble.

If Miami beats Boston in Game 6 I might have been receptive to this argument because they'd have the extra time to acclimate to the altitude but once that went 7? No way IMO. But then I felt Denver had this in 4-5 games sooo...

The very last quest of the event (well along with the Challenge Quest, it unlocks after you complete the epilogue/post-story stuff) is a no battle quest where you hang out with Fujino (it's totes a date). You have a bunch of choices over the course of the quest and towards the end Fujino comments on how you did and it affects the ending of the quest.

I think it resolves to "perfect score", "not perfect, but good", and "BAD END"
