I think Chrono Cross would benefit far more from a remake. It has a large number of issues that could be fixed, whereas Chrono Trigger has minor annoyances at worst.

It's way too gamed by bots and blatant government propaganda. Reddit is honestly a lot like that too. I have a great screenshot from a Worldnews comment section where almost every reply was from a different bot account saying the same AI generated answer (the content varied outside a few key phrases, but the prompt was obviously the same).

There is a protest being followed by some boards for a couple days to try to get them to not implement new API standards.

I don't think anyone actually believes it will do anything, but that's what is going on. You can still use r/worldnews and a number of other big subs that aren't protesting.

The word manga has been used that way in Japanese since the 1700s. It was pretty well developed as an art and storytelling form in the 1800s.

Reading the Bible pretty much killed Christianity for me. I don't mean all the illogical stuff that happens, I mean the people who kept telling me to read it were so clearly not following Jesus's teachings that I had to wonder if they themselves read it. I think a lot of people are seeing more and more of that. Like right now Trump is like a new Jesus to a lot of these people. That makes no sense.

Yep, it sure did show those and I was feeling great and then it literally showed vast nothingness for an entire section called "exploration". It somehow looked even more vacant than No Man's Sky. I didn't want to explore a single one of the places they showed there. I realize it's all about being as big as possible with as much "content" as possible now, but that's not what I am in it for.

Like the good Fallout (not 76) and Elder Scrolls games? A world populated by NPCs and quests designed for me to interact with and get rewards advancing plotlines. Not a giant expanse of nothingness, some of which is literally generated by an algorithm, which unless you are in it for "it's the experience itself that's the reward" will not provide anything meaningful as a reward. I've seen enough of this genre, it isn't for me.

Man there are so many of these No Man's Sky like games in development. I just don't care about any of this open world explore a bunch of bullshit stuff. I was hoping it would be more like classic Bethesda games, but that's never going to happen again is it?

I love that people in the US pay way more for healthcare and education than anywhere else and rather than asking why they just fight over who should pay.

Don't forget that they only "stood up" to China during the COVID lockdowns. Meaning that any tournaments in China that the WTA "suspended" were actually already cancelled. As soon as the nationwide lockdowns ended, so did the suspension. Most likely, the WTA gave China back-channel assurances that it was all for show.

From a PR perspective as a women's sport organization they had to do it. You can't say you're against investigating sexual assault allegations. So yeah it worked out really well for them in the end. They seem to have suffered no fallout and everyone has forgotten for the most part.

For people that don't understand the savings thing. It's not legal for most Chinese to do traditional investments (stocks, etc.). Which is why they often buy a house as an investment. Therefore people often have a lot of money in their savings account.

Yeah, it's like I wouldn't say that "everything in the sky revolves around the Earth" was a matter of arrogance but it was a matter of belief that was rooted in the people's basic understanding of how the world worked at the time (well, the nobility and clergy, anyway). They didn't refute the heliocentric model out of arrogance, they did so out of sheer animal fear that one of their most fundamental understandings of nature might be wrong. I feel that's a very similar attitude for many of the people who deny the possibility of sentient lifeforms from other planets.

I want to specifically mention going to a strange Yakuza club in Roppongi because both a guy on LUE and one of my in real life friends had the same experience of having their drink drugged, and then waking up at their hotel with no memory of what happened the next day but all their money is gone. This happened enough that you can find it by Googling. If some suspicious looking guy wants to take you to a club to meet girls in Roppongi and then it's filled with nothing but suspicious looking guys and foreigners, you should find somewhere else to drink.

A lot of that is because they can't tell Asian countries apart and think the suicide rate in Japan is exceptionally high for a developed country (it isn't). South Korea is the country with the exceptionally high suicide rate, but no one memes about it.

Wait until you find out the US works more hours on average and has a higher suicide rate. Again the method of dealing with problems in the US seems to be to pretend it's just as bad or even worse everywhere else.

Sex crimes are underreported in Japan as he said, but that doesn't account for 27 times more likely to be raped in America (it's underreported there too). The fact is America has a violent crime problem in excess of other wealthy countries and the cope seems to be to simply pretend other countries are also that bad. They aren't (excluding some poor and developing nations). I've lived in China too, wouldn't recommend it for a variety of reasons but it's certainly a hell of a lot safer than the US. People are absolutely delusional about the level of violence they are putting up with there.

Glad someone posted the stats. I lived in America in various cities for decades. Lived in Japan for 6 years. Japan is obviously significantly safer but if you think it's an absolute thing where crime either exists or doesn't, that's more of a problem with your thought process. Crime exists in Japan, it's just way less likely than America (it's the safest OECD nation and also has the longest life expectancy and lowest homelessness rate).

I think genocide denial should get you banned. I have never seen a user deny a genocide and thought "that's a useful member of this community". Haven't watched the video but what the West calls the Master system was just part of the SG-1000 series. I am not sure if it should count as a separate system. In Japan we group them all together as one system (GameBoy and GameBoy Color are also grouped like that here).

I live in Japan. Racism here isnt like racism in the US. They dont hate you. But they know you are different and treat you like you arent part of the lunch table in high school.

I mean yes, but also there are right wing people who legitimately hate Koreans and Chinese. My in-laws are Chinese and they definitely prefer living here over China (or America, but only my wife has experience living there), but there are definitely people here who hate Chinese people.

While I'm sure a lot of nerds are overreacting, I do kinda agree on this one. Chun Li is supposed to have thighs like tree trunks. She's supposed to look like she could crush my head like a grape with a scissor lock.

The angry gamer nerds may frame it as puritanical censorship but I don't see it as that. It's not a sexiness thing, it's a power thing. If anything this will make her more sexy to most people. I think the thicker and more muscular her thighs, the better.

Yeah I think the main issue here is they also made them look less muscular. I don't get what the point of that was.
