I have a repro NES cart of FF3 and it's pretty fun, although I think the jobs are even more unbalanced than FF1. I played it blind, too.

Also, the original version doesn't give you any bonus whatsoever for mastering a class, which I had no idea until I wasted time grinding out some job levels.

Oh and I was confused. The system is alpha Centauri. The planet is proxima Centauri B

Or, we could just turn the solar system into a giant telescope. In a similar way the JWST is getting pictures of ancient galaxies using gravitational lensing, we can do something similar using the sun. The light bending around the sun increases the detail of far away planets by a factor of 100 billion. It's just a proposal right now, but it could happen in the not too far future.

This is a cool thread, I'll be following it.

I have my original copies of 1/4/6 for NES and SNES and beat them back in the day. I decided to get the Final Fantasy IV pixel remaster this past weekend because it was finally available on Switch.

Anyway, I'm still near the beginning of FFIV and I feel like its maybe 2 steps forward and 1 back. I like the new translation, and they even kept the "Spoony Bard" line. Thankfully they let you change the font to "classic". No extra content and they maybe simplified some things that no one ever complained about. Arrows are unlimited now, which makes wands/staffs useless if your character has the option of bows. You don't drop gold/Gil anymore when you run. The graphics are nice, there are slight enhancements everywhere but they defintely kept the spirit of the original. The boat ride from Fabul to Baron near the beginning looked awesome. The orchestral remixes are OK, I can see why people switch it to the SNES original but I'm fine with something different.

The challenge is still there though if you crank up the battle speed and make it "active", especially if you don't grind or lower the experience to 1/2 in the options menu. With Active the enemies can attack you while you are in the magic/item menus, which can be stressful if a lot of things are happening at once.

I also noticed the performance to be kind of lacking on Switch. The framerate seems fine but when the screen is scrolling around in towns or on the overworld there is a slightly noticable "jerkiness" of some sort.

Imagine using that 40K budget and cooking your own food and investing the rest in stocks or precious metals.

I can smoke a brisket or pork shoulder and have plenty of food for the week for less than $100 maybe. And, of course, if you don't want meat you can cheaply cook pasta or ramen and just dress it up with extra ingredients.

For a lot of people they aren't worth it. It just depends. One thing is for sure, just being a dedicated worker can land you plenty of jobs that can support a family.

I have a BBA and make a little over $50K in retail marketing. My friend has a Masters in egineering and he's making $100K+ driving a cement mixer. I'm kind of thinking about getting my Class B so I can join him. Sure, he has to work a couple Saturdays a month, and sometimes has 10 hour days, but he's making bank.

All the gags in the airport are classic though. I still laugh at the kids "field trip" to the control room and some kid starts playing with the controls and makes a plane crash.

I'll take some heat for this but any of the instant meals with hamburger are pretty filling for the price. Yes, I'm talking about Hamburger Helper and Velveeta Skillets.... I only make them occasionally but I usually keep a few of them on hand for emergencies. Usually it's a day I had to work late or I'm exhausted and I happen to have a pound of ground beef that needs eaten or frozen. The kids never complain about it and it's extremely cheap and foolproof to make.

Some of them are better than others too, I like the bacon cheeseburger pasta one.

In some countries, like Australia for example, Rock is still the most popular style of music (and if you haven't listened to King Gizzard, you're missing out).

If what I'm reading online is correct, Rock is still highly popular In the US but it seems to me that people prefer to listen to the classics while record labels barely give new rock bands a chance.

Instead of going to a clinic, I went online and chatted with a nurse and told her about my symptoms. They had a Rx sent to my pharmacy within an hour.

I must of had a pretty bad case, I woke up with my eyes glued shut. I took 3 days off work. Even then, I was probably only 80% better as I still had some gunk I had to clean out for a few days after that.

Yep, this or chicken. Porkchops seem to be a little easier to cook on a grill without drying them out, at least in my experience. I use a cheap pellet grill now and steaks and pork are on it at least twice a week.

If you have an instant pot, chicken cooks pretty easy at I think 8 minutes on high. Mix in some broth, a can of Rotel, and some taco seasoning. Super easy chicken tacos.

The cut matters, but generally, the biggest factor is if it's a thin or thick cut. A thick cut needs some indirect heat or you'll have a crispy steak on the outside with a raw inside.

Also, if the cut has a lot of marbling I dont bother with a marinade. Salt, pepper, and garlic is all you need.

It doesn't have to be complicated though. Get a 3/4 or 1 inch thick ribeye and cook it for about 5 mins on each side. That's usually around medium rare.

No, it doesn't work here on large scale. This isn't Europe where everything is right next to each other. Let the cities big enough to get use out of them fund it themselves.

This is an accurate statement. Even our cities are spread out. New York and San Francisco are dense, but tons of cities in the USA just spread out into all the suburbs and low cost land around them.

However, as the country continues it's exodus to the Southern states, I could see more rail projects up and down the I-95 and I-85 corridors. I mean, it will take decades, but it will happen.

Florida already has high speed rail from Miami to West Palm Beach and is about to finish the line to Orlando. Tampa is already planned to be the next connection in the not so distant future.
