I want to do this. I'm in good shape and know my stuff from years of climbing, but I have two hang ups. One is that I refuse to use a mule because I hear they are mistreated. I felt the main protagonist had an interesting journey, but her characterization as a hard assed, no nonsense tough woman was a little cliche, albeit not so much back then. The second book, Shift, was interesting in showing how everything came to be. But Im starting Dust, and man this is such a slog. I realize I don't really care what happens from here, and the main character's personality is so flat that I hate the narrative in her chapters. Does it pick back up and conclude in a satisfying way? He didn't get conned into a bunch of student loans. He stumbled his way into a high paying job where he's unfirable for some reason. He lives in a pretty nice house in what seems to be a decent neighborhood supporting his entire family without Marge needing a job. Most of them were practically retired anyways. Hank Jr, or GH can be in the age range Bobby was in, probably a little younger depending on how forward they want to skip in time.
