I remember VIP, that was a fun show at the time. I can imagine that like a lot of stuff from the time it's really bad if trying to watch it now. I had that with Relic Hunter, loved it when it was on, then found it streaming recently and it's atrocious.

im rewatching it right now cause i never saw how and why the one asian man joins the team or learns val is a fraud
the episode i remember most is the one where val was thought dead but was just on an island with amnesia
but in like 3 months V.I.P fell apart without her

in terms of cheesy 90s shows i just found V.I.P on ctv
its the show pamala anderson left baywatch for and it has kind of the same "look at how hot these girls are" vibe that baywatch. it didnt survive the internet becoming mainstream and in every house either just like baywatch

but it was fun
the premise is that pamala anderson is valerie irons a woman who sells hot dogs out of a stand in LA
one day a famous movie star asks her out on a date to his new movie premier. and there in front of the media a man pulls a gun on him and this action movie stars grabs his date and uses her as a human shield. she gets off a lucky hit and stops the gunmen but to save face he claims she is a bodyguard he hired and she felt sorry for him and went along with his lie.
which let to an actual body guard agency hiring her as a figurehead. they are aware she isnt a real bodyguard but want a famous name to attract famous clients so they use her new found unearned reputation as the worlds greatest body guard to get work.

but well ditzy the character is actually pretty quick witted and calm under pressure so well not actually a trained bodyguard she does usually save the day through quick thinking and bluffing. at least in season 1. later on the character gets dumber and dumber and those badass moments from season 1 become less and less frequent

the third episode had a scene with john cho before he was famous as the delivery guy with 1 line

there was also cleopatra 2525 which had a great theme song

buffy and xena were both so much better written than charmed
yet it was charmed that became the longest running action series to star a female lead an honor which charmed did not deserve
even though i actually do like charmed in a cheesy kinda way but its not really a "good show" but it had good moments

my favorite of the xena/hercules rip offs was beastmaster
i couldnt tell you anything about the show or its plot but look at the main characters outfit!
i watched that show late at night with the volume on mute

xena wears the same costume throughout the series but gabrielles outfit changes based on her character growth

in season 1 she is wearing this long feminine dress that isnt really designed for fighting
after she learns to use a staff and starts taking part in battle herself she gets the iconic green top and skirt she is known for and wears for most of the shows run.
but in the later seasons once she has accepted that in battle she might have to kill and has gotten competent enough in combat to hold her own next to xena she starts wearing a red outfit and changes weapons to a pair of sais

Yeah xena had great development
Like Gabrielle doesn't start out as a warrior
She can't fight at all for most of the first season
Her learning to fight is a big part of her character growth and how uncomfortable she is with the idea of killing

xena ended up being more popular than hercules which is hilarious since kevin sorbo turned out to be a douche

ok ill start with what i like about the game.
i enjoy the big open world and the battle system and how customizable it is
i love balthier. one of my favorite final fantasy characters in general
i like how much side content there is so exploring is rewarded

now to get to what i dislike about the game
the story, on paper the story sounds fantastic. if you summarize the plot to someone they will walk away thinking that must be the greatest video game story ever told. but in the end it wasnt executed very well and its story ended up being one of the weaker parts of the game so its wasted potential

it is kind of forgettable.

the core cast is really underdeveloped. i mean out of 6 main characters vaan, penelo and fran could be cut from the story and very little would need to be changed for everything to still work
balthier would need a different reason to go to the lhusu mines and they would need to find a different way to get past the woods and thats about all the changes needed

welll fixing actual issues in ones life takes work, self reflection and patience which is what the left teaches but that is hard to do
its much easier to just create an enemy to blame
andrew tate convinces teenage boys to hate women and men who dont fit into a box of tates idea of masculinity.
and they eat that shit up because it gives them people to blame and direct their anger towards

so its not like these people are speaking to these boys at a real level that resonates with them. they spout basic self help advice you can find in any library self help section. they just manipulate young men by promising easy answers to things that dont have them.

the boys are wrong for buying into it but they are ultimately victims of andrew tate
this will have far reaching consequences of their mental development emotionally stunting them in their adult years and preventing them from forming meaningful relationships with other people

I have no bitterness over that remake but the franchise IS Ash Williams presence and Sam Raimi's trademarks.

i think the show ash vs evil dead established kelly and pablo really well to the point where going back the original evil dead stories feels like something is missing without them being with ash.
i think those 2 could carry an evil dead story without ash

yeah lots of people who are wrong think that
i will say this about angel
it was more consistently good. it never really had a genuinely bad season. i mean season 4 dropped the ball with cordelia's plot but overall it was still a good season.

buffy was more up and down with season 1 not being very good due to the show still finding its footing and season 6 and 7 being worse than what came before.
but the best episodes of buffy are better than the best episodes of angel.

so buffy had lower lows
but higher highs

Anything CGI before 2007 is near impossible to try and watch today.

At least I'm assuming the mantis was CGI.

the mantis was practical effects
most of buffy was practical
there were like 3 or 4 CGI monsters in the entire show and they did look awful

One regret is that I never got to see the episode where the teacher turns into a giant mantis. They referenced that all the time whenever they wanted to bring up how weird their experiences were. If I remember correctly, it was the second episode.

the whole series is on disney+ so you can always watch the mantis episode
but be warned. its one of the worst episodes in the entire series.

Just because someone lists a game at that price doesn't mean it's selling for that much. It's like those $500 Facebook marketplace listings of damaged Charizard cards from the 2 set that reprinted the base set.

even slightly used copies of episode 3 sell for around 300 dollars gunplagirl

Man I still have a sealed copy of that game since 2 killed my desire to play through.

its best to think of xenosaga as one long game with a terrible middle section
just gotta power through episode 2 and things will be fine

but episode 2 does have a few moments that are really good like the car chase, and shion scene withc cecily and cathe

Charisma Carpenter was pregnant so Cordelia had to be written out of the show.

she was pregnant during season 4
and joss got mad that she got pregnant without his permission (yes seriously this was a well known hissy fit from him even back when the episodes were originally airing)

and on one hand it did cause some hastily written rewrites
some things that had to be cut were a swordfight between evil cordelia and angel which was supposed to be a throwback to season 2 of buffy where angelus and buffy fought with swords. and cordelia was supposed to be the one to kill jasmine.

but even then that only affected season 4. there was no excuse to drop her from the opening title and only use her in a single episode of season 5 just to kill her off despite promising charisma carpenter she wasnt coming back just to be killed off

She had similar character progression on buffy during season 2 and 3

Cordelia being screwed over was deliberately done though and still pisses me off
