We're talking about the same author who set up an "anyone can be a wizard, even a poor kid living in a closet" story and then went back on that with "oops nope sorry you gotta be an elite with special blood".

That is a plot element that most writers screw up. As the story becomes more and more grand, many writers end up going the "chosen one" route.

Yeah, I don't really get it. There's a level of smugness to with it, even though I know a few of those users are enjoyers of "kid-friendly" franchises.

I remember I was playing CoD during that period, and it felt like torture as the PS3 was my console of choice (free online gaming) and every day, I would just hope that it would finally work.

To be fair, a big part of the Nes and Snes library are also based on other IPs.
Bomberman, Adventures of Lolo, Metal Gear and Parodius started on MSX.
Mario and Donkey Kong appeared in arcades and many videogame consoles and home computer pre-Nes.

I think they meant licensed products from non-video-game entertainment.

That was my point, even if I didn't make it 100% clear. I recognize people change; I know I have. At the same time, though, it's pretty clear that Ragnarider just wants to rile up people.

I'm enjoying it so far, but the romance with Misty was pretty weird. It felt a bit too "self insert fantasy".

I figured it was either a manga thing, or it's probably just because of all the fan theories. As mentioned, this series didn't just use the game elements, but used both glitches, quirks of the game, manga elements (very rarely but still), and even the fan theories (with Raticate obviously being the biggest one).

It did seem a little fanfiction-ish to me as well, though, lol. I suppose many Pokemon fans when they were young grew attached to her, considering she's the 2nd gym leader, and the first major female in the game tbh (and of course, the anime certainly helps her out).

I mean, it really took less than a minute tbh. I wasn't even trying to find anything bad, I just was curious as I didn't recognize the username and was wondering if they literally just came here to create drama or not. Ironically, I clicked on that topic thinking they were going to be making fun of people who try to mock transgender issues, but then I got that post instead.

They literally only have 11 topics in all of their time, and barely any posts.

I mean, just going to "that site" and seeing they only rarely show up here, and conveniently have only started posting as soon as this game came out was already all you needed to know.

From a quick reading, it appears Nintendo had connections to the Yakuza during their Hanafuda card and love hotel days. As they transitioned to video games, they distanced themselves from their shady past.

I gotta imagine with the release of the remake, it's going to be a long, long time, if ever, before they put the originals on there.

I guess I just don't understand why we're only singling out this game and not the plethora of other games. We literally have companies that are mistreating their staff entirely, yet we still give them 7's and 8's because "well, the game is good." We have games that have glorified certain themes that are perhaps outdated and not befitting of modern society and yet we say nothing. We give literal broken games higher scores than this.

Not as of now. I'm a little miffed that they wouldn't even put Pokemon games that were on the GBA, considering that's supposed to be the "premium" experience.

Thank you for letting us know! I've been having fun playing these levels so far. Got the para-beetle level out of the way as those type of levels always give me peak anxiety.

Super Mario Land 1 is a cute game, but I understand why they went with SML2. SML2 is a little floaty, but does look good, and plays nicely. Plus, it introduced Wario, so it has pretty big importance to the world of Mario (of course, Daisy was in SML, but she has been relegated purely to spinoffs while Wario has been a mainstay getting several of his own game series).

Super Mario Land 1, on the other hand, is as close to shovelware iOS platformers as a Mario game will hopefully ever get. It was pretty clear they just really wanted to throw a Mario game on the Gameboy and call it a day. The platforming has a lot of collision issues, and overall, feels very sloppy. I do like the sub/plane levels, but still.

SML2 is just superior to SML in nearly every single-way.

Tbh, I kinda feel this topic should have been locked as soon as people used their personal vendettas to attack Cyric. It's one thing to discuss contributions, but it's another thing to openly mock/harass someone for them.

Contributions keep this site alive, but for the most part, people do these contributions for very little in return. It's not going to be a stable source of income (you're only going to win once a month at best for FAQ of the month, which I don't know if they are even giving out atm), so people gain little by doing these. Allowing people to attack people for their contributions on this site should not be an acceptable practice.

So yeah, if a mod is reading this, I hope you consider locking this thread as it is not a productive thread (and is an attempt at bullying a contributor to either remove their preface or downright take down their hard work entirely).

I mean, tbf to Retro, they actually weren't originally brought on board as the main team for MP4. They very well could have had another game they were working on that either was scrapped/put on hold to make way for MP4.

I have played 1 and 3.

Didn't beat either. Will finally get around to it.

I played the tutorial/prologue section of the first one, and I don't really get this game. Is it supposed to be more of a horror version of Metroid? Because the game is really slow-paced and there were a lot of logs and backstory to read like in Resident Evil, and it seemed like they were going for a really creepy atmosphere. The combat was pretty boring as it seemed like you mostly just lock on and have a million hit points, so I really wasn't able to enjoy it on that level.

It's not a "horror" version of Metroid; it's just Metroid. Metroid has always been clearly inspired by Alien, so there's always been a creepy atmosphere to it.

Tbh, I have the trilogy on the Wii U (and have 1 and 3 physical) but I'm going to get this as it will be a lot more comfy to play with than either of those versions.

It's nice they went all-in on actually updating the graphics rather than throwing an HD port of it.

Communism will be the future, but only when humans aren't in charge.

I think this was a good thing. The players knew what they were doing, and changing rules for the better is more impactful than any championship could ever be.

Ain't no way I'm suddenly hearing the flagship Millennial book series is being called the book of the Nazis.

He could still win, but I've been saying since day 1 that I think people are overrating his odds at winning the nomination over Trump.

I wish we pushed back more against the $70 thing.

The fact is, we know this game is going to have expansion passes like the first game, so that already is going to make this now a $100 experience (and that's if they only do $30 worth of dlc).

Yeah, we discussed it when I was older and she did apologize. She bought me Pokmon Platinum as a peace offering.

I'm glad she was able to recognize it; it feels like most parents double down on their takes when confronted.

I do gotta say, it's ironic she bought you Platinum as the cover legendary of that game is frequently called Pokemon "Satan" and even looks a little demon-ish.

The industry of cheating has just reached its next level.

I'm stocking up on the physical copies. I have a good feeling about the value of the game.
