the problem with this thinking is that, JK Rowlings life does not depend on how well a video game sells. Even if she never makes another dime, she still has a ton of money. So what is the actual endgame? You boycott one video game, it sells a handful of copies and everyone moves on?

I remember Covid was killing like 2-3k people a day back in 2020-2021 but the past year or so with these new variants it seems like a ton of people just get infected and feel like death for a few days but recover from it

my states total infected today is like 580. out of a population of over 9 million. The governor doesn't even do his daily covid press conferences. We just collectively do not care lol. Also 9 deaths.

honestly i feel like social media would shut down scenario 2 pretty fast. It's kind of hard to deny flesh eating zombies cause you can go outside or see them all over the news. For the most part COVID itself was kind of... invisible. Its easier to deny that than people walking about smelling like rotting garbage with flesh hanging off their face lol

i feel like eventually humanity would replenish its numbers too and slowly start overtaking the outbreaks with pure numbers

I was never going to buy it because I think Harry Potter is dumb but I hate JK Rowling and support, at least in spirit, anything that seeks to limit her ability to facilitate bringing about her ideal world. i'd argue this was was moreso slacktivism than really trying to boycott the product. There is not a single sane person on this Earth that thought this boycott would succeed. JK Rowling could say all minorities are subhuman and the game would still sell. Harry Potter is just too damn big. Realistically people could quite literally just lock the doors to their house/apartment while the police/military/national guard clear up things outside. For 1, we're all doomed. 2 I think outside of the initial mass panic we'd get it under control and after a few years completely wipe it out, especially with the amount of guns that are in the US lol. 3, I'd say we're all doomed, but slower than scenario 1.
