Havent played 5 yet but that sounds exactly like Persona 3 and 4.

However, those games only started that way for the first 4-5 hours or so. As if youre on training wheels, and then after 5 hours they take the training wheels off and let you go off on your own. I would give it a couple more hours.

IIRC, P3s portable version edited out a lot of that intro stuff / open world stuff.

but thats just the way those games work. Its a 100+ hour investment, but you need to sit through a 5 hour prologue first

IIRC (its been almost 10 years I think), the power ups are what really make the game good. And you dont appreciate the power ups until you get into the game a little bit

Yeah the first one is very 80stoo much 80s. it hasnt aged well.

the second one is very good though and is a great throwback to the 90s - 2000s Jerry Bruckheimer movies.

im not sure if itll be timeless but it will sure she better than the first one did
