If you look at the video I posted, you'll also see that there's a ton of elevators here. Elevators that Samus has to take to get to my team. Samus isn't going to magically make those go faster. Even with her speed boosts, she's still limited by elevator speed. There's nearly a minute long elevator ride around the 9:30 mark. So knock another minute off of her short life.

Mercs magic says that she initially believes it to be true. Only thing that's up for interpretation is how long it takes for her to stop believing it.

She only has 5 minutes until she dies. Even if she sniffs it out in 2 minutes, that's still 2 minutes of Liquid leading her down the wrong path to get to them. So instead of having to clear the terrain in 5 minutes, she has to clear the terrain in 3 minutes. Every minute matters, and every minute she's listening to Liquid is wasted, even if she does eventually figure it out.

Who is Cloud paying attention to instead? Samus? BJ isn't getting through this terrain in 5 minutes. She's dead by the time BJ gets there. K. Rool? Okay, then that means BJ's going to have to fight Lu Bu instead, and Lu Bu with Vivi's support easily beats BJ.

That means he gets stuff like Zenos's teleport. It doesn't mean he's suddenly on Zenos's power level.

BJ doesn't get Zenos's power. I could be hypnotized into thinking I'm Raiden. Who takes me in that situation over Mario? He might get teleports and stuff, but it's still based off of BJ's power, not Zenos's.

Even if Samus manages to speedrun Shadow Moses and reach the enemy team within 5 minutes, I don't she'd faceroll them anyway. Cloud with support can hold out for a bit.

I'd also like to mention that there's no way BJ and K. Rool can keep up with Samus if she does this. So she'd be walking into a 1 v 4.

Mercs magic says she genuinely believes whatever she's being told, at least at the start. She can figure it out after Liquid has led her astray around the terrain a few times, but by then it's too late.

The question is if she can cover the distance and do any lasting damage before time runs out. Cloud has no revival but he does have healing.

The thing is, Samus doesn't know this terrain. Liquid can just lead her into a dead end. Even if it's only once and she doesn't buy "lol my bad" and keeps listening, that's still a large chunk of Samus's limited time that she wasn't doing anything productive. So 5 minutes becomes 3 minutes, and this terrain is way too large to cover in 3 minutes, even with the Speed Booster.

That's just another reason why he'd want to hunker down. Stay where you are, because moving means you get closer to the scary man with identity issues.

Also, explain to me why my team would move to engage the other team. They know Samus is more than 5 minutes away from where they are, and they want her dead more than anything. They're going to hunker down and wait out the timer, since they know that's their best way of beating Samus.

Even if you cut out all of the fights, menuing and load times, you can see that it takes way more than 5 minutes to get to REX's husk, even when you know where you're going. If that wasn't bad enough, Samus is in contact with Liquid pretending to be Samus's mentor. He'll lead her astray around the terrain just to waste what precious little time Samus has left. My team is scared of Samus, so much so that their battle plan is based around beating her. They know they can beat her without doing a single thing, so they'll just sit back and wait for her to die. They'll even know exactly when it happens because of Liquid. Samus is a complete non-factor in this fight.

So that means it's BJ and K. Rool vs Metal Gear REX, Cloud, Vivi, and Lu Bu. BJ's in his Chniby phase right now, thinking he's some fantasy swordsman when he's really just a dude with guns. He's going to run out and get himself killed. That leaves K. Rool with a machine gun. REX is more than enough to take him. Snake needed RPGs and Gray Fox's help to down REX. K. Rool isn't doing that by himself with just a machine gun.

TL;DR:
Samus is dead before the teams interact. BJ thinks he's a lot stronger than he is and is going to get beat quickly, and K. Rool can't take my team by himself.

Honestly, given Raiden can fight with his sword in his mouth if he needs to, he might favor his legs more since he needs them to walk.

In my brain, and as someone who hasn't really played since Pearl, I have this notion in my head that Barrier & Light Screen can't be used together? Like, one cancels the other if they are used after?

I think you meant to say Reflect rather than Barrier, but all three of them can be used together (and they added a move that's Reflect and Light Screen together in Sun and Moon, but it can only be used in Hail and Mewtwo doesn't get it.)

So I'm going to be contrarian here and say Mewtwo lives. I took a look at the Chrono Trigger damage calcs, and it turns out that the multiplier for Thunder 2 in dual techs is around the same as Frenzy's multiplier. Luminaire isn't used in any dual techs, but I imagine its multiplier would put it on par with Frenzy's damage despite Crono's low magic like it does as a single tech.

Basically what I'm getting at is that I think this is only marginally stronger than the attack last week that I thought Mewtwo survived, so I think Mewtwo survives here. So he uses Recover to heal up and Aigis can't win the 1v3 against the Beastars. I think Aigis can take the 1v2 against Bowser and DK (DK would need another 100% on top of what he's got before I start to think he can win that), but with Mewtwo there, she doesn't stand a chance.

According to bulbapedia, it's actually since SV, but yeah, it says sword now.

Sacred Sword is weird because it was originally the signature moves of the Swords of Justice, then they made a sword Pokemon in the next generation and gave it Sacred Sword. So it mentions horns despite the fact that Aegislash and Zacian don't have horns.

Quick, someone get the calcs for Aegislash's Sacred Sword against Mewtwo.

Someone sell me on Mewtwo living or not living. I think that's what it comes down to.

Reading the list, I think you're too harsh on Mike for his idol play. Carolyn and Sierra also voted Tyler, so Mike's vote was meaningless. All voting Tyler there did was make Mike look like he was in the loop as opposed to throwing a useless vote on Dan or something.

Oh this is good to know. Playing Engage now and it makes me miss some of Fates' mechanics (I liked pair up and how it handled classes/learning skills). Think I might actually go back and buy Revelations.

Detective Pikachu Mewtwo used Shadow Ball for its main offense. Which is a Ghost type move. If anything, I'd say that converts to Curse, which Aegis Shielding doesn't protect against.

Did they add Nuke and Psy to PQ2? If so, what's Aigis's resistance to Psy? I'm guessing neutral, but you never know.

Buffs in Pokemon don't wear off unless the Pokemon is switched out (and I don't know how that would work here). Legends: Arceus is an exception, but Mewtwo isn't in that game anyway.
