It's not even a contest, Dungeons and Dragons is just a better overall film and this is coming from someone who never even played it nor barely knows anything about it. I'm familiar with Mario and played a lot of games from the series, but even I have to admit the movie itself is below average if you take out all of the easter eggs and references.

Honestly this is the most apples to oranges comparison I've seen yet for both films.

The new movie and new season is surprisingly pretty good. I'll argue the movie is not as good as the first one, but the college scene alone is something every should at least watch a clip of. The new season is really good and my favorite segments are the ones when they're older. Them also making commentary on some tik tok videos had me rolling.

and yeah I can see why there was a disconnect between critics and audiences. If you were to judge this solely on being a movie, it's below average to mid as fuck. It's a story we've seen a ton of times told better in other flicks than this one, but that's honestly par for the course for Illumination films. With that said, as a person who isn't a Mario fanboy but has casually played the game and associated games from the platforms like the sports and kart games, this movie is fanservice heaven. The amount of references I can see and hear was something else. The voice performance was actually not bad, though the biggest miscast was Lanky Kong. Bowser and his singing were the clear highlights. If I were to judge it on a merit of being a movie it's a 5.5/10, but if I were to judge it as a Mario fan it would honestly be a 8.5/10.

Rotten Tomatoes critic score is the same too.

It's crazy how many people seem to miss this and think you need to either absolutely love a movie or hate it.

It's more like "This is the percentage of people who liked it enough to recommend"

Half of movie critics not liking Mario makes total sense. Most people who buy a ticket to see the Mario movie liking it also makes sense. Neither of these are at odds with each other.

Neither of these mean it's a terrible or fantastic movie. It means it's a movie that critically isn't anything amazing but is appealing to the people who are interested in it. Plenty of movies are like this. It's okay.

It's nice to see someone with an actual realistic take instead of making conspiracy theories about how all reviews are paid.

You can use Rottentomatoes as an example. Basically if both ratings are under 70% I consider "failing".

The M.Night movie Glass. I get why a lot of people hated it and I get why a lot of critics said it was garbage, but to me it was the perfect M. Night way to end a trilogy. Everyone always expects something big and grand for a 3rd part and what everyone got was something that was "underwhelming", but to me that was kind of the point to it. This wasn't a super hero movie that was going to have a big epic third act, it was a meta commentary about said comic book films that I think did a great job at.

I think a lot of you are getting the wrong idea about this. The issue isn't that high schoolers have to take a physical to play sports, this is common practice here in the States (well I can say for sure Los Angeles). The issue is that the legislature is going to use physical check ups as the preventative way to stop transwomen from participating in female sports, that's how it's going to get enforced.

That's what on the job training is for. Entry level jobs usually aren't rocket science either.

Like I said, it depends if its for a career level job or just some side job. Years of experience also contributes to things like knowledge on job expectations and work ethics as well. It's not always fool proof, but as my 8 years experience of being a Senior Manager at a CPA firm shows that almost anytime we hired someone with more work experience, they always perform up or beyond expectation vs. someone with little to no relevant work experience in the particular field because we run into issues like them not learning/picking things up quick enough or have terrible work ethics like coming to work late constantly.
