Just be aware that one of the most popular ways of stealing from a big store is to walk in with a cart, load up the cart, and just walk out the door as if you bought everything. Happened a lot at the Dollar General my brother worked at. Happened to me when I worked at Target.

That kind of thing is why those wheel-stop devices were installed in the first place. You shouldn't take it personally. If you have a receipt, just show the receipt. It's a ten second delay at the most. It's really nothing to get outraged over, they're just told to look out for certain signs--and a big item in a cart with no bag is one of those signs. Fast walking is probably another. A mask and a hoodie probably doesn't help, either.

If you fit the profile, it's not your fault or the fault of the store--it's the fault of the thieves who wear masks/hoodies and walk out the door quickly with a cart full of unbagged goods.

I have about 200 hours between 20XX and 30XX. Great games. Lots of replayability.

I'm forcing myself to wait until 30XX is more complete because I know I'll play it to death as soon as I start it, and I want the best possible experience when I do.

At my store there are 6 self checkout stations open at all times, that's where my frame of reference is.

Right, sure, but the average cashier would have to be six times faster than the average self checkout customer in order for the line to move at the same speed.

Six times faster is much, much faster, especially given how the customer still factors into the speed with how quickly they empty their own cart onto the conveyer and how long it takes them to pay.

Technically speaking, it is alleged. But it's also extremely obvious that the allegations will result in convictions if the jury has even the slightest ability to process information.

Technically not wrong to say "alleged" but it's definitely a red flag if you do.

As long as at least one of the six people currently checking out is moving at a semi reasonable speed, it's still faster. Those people will eventually filter through at a rate 5x higher than if they were holding up the cashier line.

I did a whole math post in another topic by accident. I deleted it, but the conclusion was if you spend 2 minutes doing self checkout in my state where minimum wage is $10.30, you're only doing 34 cents of 'work.'

I'd trade 34 cents to get through the checkout lane 2-3x faster than in an ordinary lane.

I'm always fascinated by the circumstances that would lead a city like this to fall into ruin like that. Who used to live there? Why did they leave?

I feel like this is one of the most brazen attempts by a corporation to tank their own IP. I don't think they realized who they were dealing with--D&D players read every single detail of every rulebook that has ever been printed. They were always going to read between the lines and find the true intent behind the 'updated' agreement.

It was an attempt to control and monetize every piece of content ever released with even a tangential relationship to D&D. They tried to claim some bullshit about it being "a way to ensure inclusivity" or whatever the fuck that means, but everyone knew they were just making a power grab.

Little did they realize, the power is out of their control now. The third-party content creators they were trying to screw over have proven already that they're more than capable of creating excellent campaigns, supplementary materials, new rules, new classes, etc. on their own.

So why on earth did Hasbro and WotC think they could try to monopolize all of those creators' originality? Didn't one person in that cold, sterile board room think for one second that...if the user agreement became controlling and oppressive, all of those people who provide free promotion and supplementary material for the company IP would just...move on and make their own IP?

Come on, dude. It was always a stupid move.

So far, this response seems to FINALLY be the correct one, but it took too long to get there. My DM is pretty steadfast about finding another system to use once this current D&D campaign is over (we have a couple of months worth of sessions left now) and I can't blame her. It's a 'too little, too late' situation now.

They tanked so much goodwill and trust in such a short period of time that it's going to be very, very hard for them to win it back. They've taken a fall on the same level as what happened to Blizzard when those lawsuits started popping up. Different circumstances, different causes, same level of broken faith and trust.

Remember when somebody discovered a way to spawn a fully modeled and functional Arwing (from Star Fox) in Ocarina of Time without any gameshark codes or anything?

That was pretty freaking cool.

While we're on the subject, 20XX is a pretty fun little Mega Man X-styled rogue-lite. Its sequel, 30XX, looks very good, too. I haven't played it (because I wanna play it when it's complete) but I bought the early access version like a year ago.

I want them to do this in the SNES style, like with MM9 and MM10. The MMX SNES games are my favorite classic games of all time. X, X2, and X3 are all outstanding.

It was just as okay as the anime

The anime is a high-effort work of art. High-tier animation, great dub acting, excellent soundtrack, engaging world building and thematic elements...

It's just overall very good. I know it's all opinion and such, but it's very much better than 'okay'. It's a major stand-out from its era.

The only decent part of the live action show was the Ballad of Fallen Angels episode, and even then it was only good for ~5 minutes...because it was mostly a shot-for-shot remake of the scene from the anime when he returns to the church to face Vicious.

And even THEN it was only good until the awful Netflix writers decided to make it a "TWIST" that Julia is the true villain and Vicious is just a pathetic loser who whines and gets his ass kicked all the time. Took one of Spike's coolest moments from the whole series, where he gets chucked out of the church window but leaves a live grenade behind, and turns it into him just...falling like a loser with no backup plan. And then Vicious is a hostage and JULIA IS THE TRUE VILLAIN DASHSAKHDASKH

I cannot stress enough how much I hate that they made Julia into the 'real' villain and made Vicious useless and non-threatening. Man was fucking scary in the anime.

X5 is for sure where the series started free-falling. I don't know what changed, but it was something big in the design philosophy. X5 is at least mediocre, but X6 is just bad.

I kinda like X7, but it's very much not in line with the other games and stands as its own creation--if you treat it as a 2D/3D platformer hybrid with modest ambitions, I think it ends up being pretty fun.

X8 was bland and unremarkable, but at least it wasn't offensively bad like X6.

Thing is, the self checkout is way faster. Especially at my Walmart, where they have 6 kiosks to do it with.

Even if a standard checkout lane with an employee handling the bagging moves 5x faster than the average self checkout person (it doesn't, not by a long shot), the fact that the self checkout can host 6 people simultaneously means that the self checkout line moves faster.

Silly stuff like this is why I don't take most media outlets seriously anymore.

I haven't played Gotham Knights, but in most current continuity, Nightwing is Dick Grayson, Robin is Damian Wayne, and Red Hood is Jason Todd.

Nightwing is smart, driven, loyal, and strong. He's Batman's most capable student by far. If I'd trust anybody, it'd be him.
