| _Keeby 02/20/23 10:02:12 AM #12 | Underleveled posted... Saves shouldn't change at pre-determined rounds. They should change when rounds aren't going an ideal length. A target length for a round should be somewhere around 2-3 hours. So if it's going much faster than that, that's when you should switch. Last round took 9 hours, so we're good for quite a bit (frankly we could probably stand to still be saving two at a time) The reason why rounds seem like theyre taking a long time is because of the time I post them at. (Usually activity picks up around 8AM PST.) I know I experimented with posting rounds later in the day at least a few times and I think they went a little faster. As for basing switches on round length rather than amount of saves, I actually agree, but I think someone told me the saves were getting too small, so thats why this went back to one save per hour a long time ago, perhaps a tad too early. (Although I think its too far in to switch back now. Were only at 30 characters left.) The intention with the poll was to base the decision on consensus of participants rather than selfishly choosing myself, but I see where youre coming from. I didnt know that. Devil isnt even the only assist trophy to be from a game that released in Europe but not North America. The Helirin (which was the very first elimination) is from Kuru Kuru Kururin, which didnt get a NA release until the Wii U Virtual Console (and now, Switch Online). Then theres Barbara, whose first game wasnt localized but then the second entry was again, only in Europe. Ive always found this dude funny since his initial appearance in Brawl. He just shows up to make weird sound effects and mess up the camera. It sticks out in a roster of assists that mostly just go with directly attacking the summoners opponents. On a final note, I wouldnt blame you if you thought that the Devil was cut in Ultimate, because he cannot be summoned on over 60 stages.) |

The F-Zero stages in general have crazy gimmicks due to being based on a racing game. |

Samurai Goroh was F-Zeros only assist trophy, fitting as Captain Falcon is the series only fighter but has also stuck around for every game since his introduction. Ironically, Goroh cannot be summoned on the Mute City SNES stage in Ultimate.) |

It absolutely pained me to not save Midna but I didnt want to risk the only F-Zero rep in this contest when we have so many other Zelda reps left. Granted three of them are from the same game. MZero usually saves Midna I think but they didnt show up today so I guess thats why she got eliminated. I didnt even notice that Majoras Mask has three assist trophies across the series though. Thats so funny. If what youre saying is to up the limit to two saves per hour, I already did that earlier in the competition. Eventually enough rounds had passed that it was going too fast, and so I set it back to one again. I dont think Ill switch back since were pretty far in now, but nothings set in stone of course. I think I mentioned this somewhere before, but I have sleep issues which is why I tend to wait on making rule switches. I dont want rounds to last 12+ hours. |
