Well, I suppose that's part of it. Of course there's also the issue of money now vs. potentially more money later. I don't think it's necessarily silly to forgo higher future returns to enjoy it more now. Who knows whether we'll even be alive or in good health in 10+/20+/whatever years when 25% returns could make us super rich.

Well, lots of people are living paycheck to paycheck. If you put away $1000 a month every year, it would take you over 16 years to get to $2 million. Over 22 years to pass the $2 million if you had invested that and received fairly conservative 6% returns. I feel like there's a lot of people for whom the $2 million would make sense.

Yeah, I think so. I feel like I used to be really self-absorbed when I was young, but out of high school I spent some time as a neet and had time to do a lot of thinking. I decided I might as well do what I can to make the world a little bit better for the people around me.
