Yeah game studios reusing assets is WAY more common than people realize. Textures, animations, models, skeletons rigs, sound effects, music, and maps all get reused all the time. God of War Ragnarok reuses the map from the first game. Red Dead Redemotion's map is contained inside the RDR2 map. From Software has been using the same models and animations and skeletons for 15 years now. All of Call of Duty. Nobody cares when those games do it. But when Zelda does it, all of a sudden it's a massive issue.

Nintendo DMCA'd tools to extract validation keys from Switch hardware to use in emulators, and people are losing their minds over it. You people have been openly bragging about illegally pirating a game that hasn't even officially released yet, streaming it, rubbing it in people's faces, dumping spoilers at every opportunity, and you act fucking shocked when Nintendo slaps back. And this is fresh off the heels of Nintendo turning Gary Bowser into a wage slave for doing exactly what you're doing. No, pirating TotK is not "game preservation", it's not "sticking it to the man", it's not "morally right", it's theft. You can *maybe* make the argument that older Nintendo games that they don't sell anymore are okay to emulate, that's *possibly* preservation, but anyway you slice it, it's still theft.

Yeah I'm basically just mass acquiring resources like wood and diamonds and building materials. I think I am going to construct a new base in 1.20. I'm gonna try to fill several double chests full of ore blocks, then Fortune pick them all and see what I get.

Went searching for diamonds because I realized I will probably need a lot more for 1.20 than I currently have. No diamonds so far, but I found this sick double zombie dungeon. I can make a badass XP farm from this.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Minecraft to me is the world generation and the shape of a Minecraft world. Way back in the day, Minecraft had what was known as "continental" generation. Something like that. The problem is the oceans were waaaaaay too big. Like you could literally travel in a straight line for hundreds of thousands or millions of blocks in a continental world and never run into land. And this was back before The Update Aquatic, so ocean were barren, lifeless voids with gravel floors and nothing else. So that was clearly a problem. Something like this. But the problem here is that the oceans are now too small. They're more like lakes. If you look at a Minecraft seed on a mapping tool like Chunkbase, and zoom out as far as you can, and scroll around, you realize the oceans are actually tiny, and only make up like 30% or something of a Minecraft world. The world is literally one massive continuous landmass occasionally broken up by a couple kilometer wide lake. This is a problem for a completely different reasons. It feels unrealistic, and it's hard to call them oceans when they really aren't.
I think what they should do is make a world generation option that's somewhere in the middle of the two. Not as "dense" as the modern generation type, but not as sparse and barren as old continental generation. Would make exploring more interesting I feel. There is the Large Biomes generation, but that's not really what I want. The single, infinitely large landmass is still how Large Biomes worlds generate. But the oceans are pretty big in Large Biomes worlds. I actually feel like if they kind of changed the ratios of land to ocean in a Large Biomes world, and called that generation "continental" that would be exactly what I would want. Very large oceans and land masses, but you don't have to travel to far to get between land masses.

Also fun tidbit about world shapes. The shape of the Nether for any given seed has never once been changed. If you go back to Alpha 1.3.0, put in a seed, and go to the Nether, then if you were to enter the same seed in a modern world and go to the Nether in the same spot, you would see the exact same generation and shape. Even though The Nether Update added new structures and ore and biomes to the Nether, they did not change the shape at all.

New snapshot out. New advancement, some more technical changes, bug fixes. Also wow they fixed a 12 year old bug involving the game calculating which block you are on when your hitbox is only partially touching it. And I guess we only get 2 Sniffer plants? I thought there would be like 3 or 4. In fact there was a leaked Sniffer plant that we know they were working on that I guess just isn't going to be in 1.20. Maybe in 1.20.x or something since they said 1.20 will get a few sub updates with new features.

Yep apparently the TotK ROM is floating around out there now, so if you don't want to be spoiled, be very careful.

Also just cleared Chapter 6 on Hard and Very Hard, and cleared 9 on Normal and Hard. Only mission I haven't cleared on Hard is 7, and no idea how I'm supposed to do that. So I did a bunch of GPs and unlocked Master mode.

Got to Chapter 9 in F-Zero last night. As a kid I never got past Chapter 6, but turns out it's not that bad. I also completed Chapters 2, 3 and 4 on Very Hard and got those AX racers. Also I've completed Chapters 1, 5, and 8 on Hard. Chapter 1 VH I don't even know WTF. Chapter 5 seems very doable, but it requires perfection. Gotten close a few times, but I always seems to drive right through one of the energy pellets and just not pick it up, so then I don't have enough energy to boost for a portion of the track. Chapter 8 I don't even know. Deathborn just seems to get faster and faster every lap, to the point that after lap 1 I never see him again. Not sure how I'm expected to keep up then win. Feels like I'm missing something in this mission. The idea of doing Chapter 7 on Hard and Very Hard scares me. It was already pretty difficult on Normal.

Busted out the old Gamecube, popped F-Zero GX in. God damn does this game hold up. It's too bad F-Zero wasn't more popular. At least Mario Kart 8 is basically modern F-Zero, just wish they would do a proper follow up.

I have a near launch Switch that's been used heavily, and other than the joycons being completely fucked, it still runs fine, but I'm worried that one day it just might die on me, so I'm considering maybe getting a new one, but also the successor might be out next year or something so idk if I should.

Yeah it was a very controlled showcase. And we saw what I assume are dungeons in the last trailer anyway. And apparently what got IGN in trouble in the first place was they said they found a dungeon entrance and the Nintendo reps told them dont go in there

Because there werent any dungeons shown, just open world stuff and weapon and vehicle crafting. So everyone is back on the theres no dungeons! Its just a sandbox DLC! bandwagon again. Never mind that what was shown yesterday was insane.

I guess this just kind of turned into a Nintendo thread for now. Paper Mario was fully decompiled. Unofficial PC ports are possible now, like Mario 64 and OoT a few years ago.

Yeah turns out Red/Blue are pretty easy to solo with just about anything. I've played through the entirety of Blue using only an unevolved Meowth. Was pretty easy.

For the past few generations raising Pokemon to level 100 has been extremely easy. I have hundreds of level 100 Pokemon.
