Fully loaded Model 3 long range with AP is closer to $70K, but I'll concede the Air more closely rivals the Model S, which is similarly dated looking. The Air also just beat the Plaid edition on a drag strip, so Tesla can't even say they have the fastest EV either.

The problems with the pharmaceutical industry predate Bill Gates and have strong anchors in junk like Citizens United which allows pharmaceuticals to funnel nearly unlimited dark money as bribes to corrupt politicians.

The best case scenario is a world where we don't need the philanthropy of billionaires to get shit done.

Gates didn't create or own the patents to any COVID vaccines so his opinions on them don't mean anything.

As for the actual issue at hand regarding the parents themselves, that's an issue with how we regulate (or completely don't regulate at all) Big Pharma and how they obtain their profits. I don't have an answer to that outside of "nationalize medical research" which isn't a realistic solution.

It wasn't really a random idea. He tried to copy some European education paradigms in America because he figured "if it worked for them it'll work for us" and it didn't.

Regardless even if you don't count this one specific thing as Charity, he's funded tons of other things at the direction of the experts in those fields. He's funded lots of medical R&D on vaccination and birth control. He's spent billions on funding infrastructure projects geared towards achieving zero carbon.

Just because his one experiment with schools didn't work out, doesn't mean he hasn't been charitable.
