i'm, 34 and i just bought a stuffed animal for the first time since i was a kid, mostly as a joke
but i love it

it's a parrot, and i got it cause one of my DnD characters have a parrot familiar, so when that character does anything with the familiar i can just pick up the stuffed animal and play with it

Yes, however, Portugal didn't exist during the union. It was all Spain.

Meaning that if there was any British fighting during that time, it was against Spain, not Portugal.

that's probably it then, cause the image also tagged Finland as having been invaded, and only time anything like that happened was when it was part of Russia during the Crimean War

Who knows. It'd be dumb to do so, being that the Portuguese asked for their help to fend off Napoleon.

yeah, but i've seen this kind of chart before, and most often the wording is different, noting that it includes both hostile invasions, and allied interventions
i know very little about Portugese history, so if they never did an actual invasion as you say, that's the only thing i can think of

was the alliance ever broken, like during some Spanish-Portuguese Union or something?

Portugal was never invaded by Britain. In fact, Britain's oldest mutual defense treaty (that is still in effect) is with Portugal.

maybe they're counting in that they based the invasion of Spain during the Napoleonic wars from Portugal?

I mean, my understanding of war in medieval times is a horrorshow certainly, basically a gigantic press on the battlefield and little to no hope of recovery from injuries.

thing is battles were usually a one day affair. a few days if you count in the posturing and small skirmishes beforehand

very low risk of death 90% of the time followed by a brief very high risk of death is way easier to handle than a near constant average risk of death
