When it's things that are definitive (i.e. Presidents can only serve two consecutive terms), I agree that I shouldn't have to link things... but if I'm saying something that's in a more grey area I find providing my source cuts down on potential nonsense arguments.

Aren't the curriculums (what to focus on) set by state boards though? Not teachers?

To ignore some earlier baggage, because with crypto there always is, Binance, the #1 crypto exchange, and FTX, the #2 exchange, had two CEOs that disliked each other. One of them (FTX owner) did a mean tweet and the other (Binance owner) was just as much of a man-child and never got over it. The two bickered for a looong time until the story of note happened. Basically FTX wanted to make its own crypto, FTT, and was trying to drum up support. Binance then proceeded to throw shade at them about the legitimacy of what they were trying to do (yes, before you ask this is actually kind of illegal). Because Binance is a business this caused a bit of solvency with FTX as people lost a little bit of faith in FTX. Nothing too dramatic except for the fact that they didn't have the solvency to actually give the amount of money needed to everyone due to the exodus, which caused more people to leave + FTT to immediately tank. As they had made their valuation by "paying" themselves in FTT this caused their value to plummet, causing a *lot* more people to attempt to leave. However, as it turned out they *really* didn't have the money for this. Thus they turned to Binance to bail them out, of which Binance agreed. However, this was a non-binding agreement and when Binance saw FTX's financials they pulled out (whether or not this was out of spite is a bit up in the air, but it is reasonable to assume that it was "just business"). It turned out that FTX had been using people's money, despite literally having it in their ToS that they would not do it (this time it's extremely illegal, and is when actual institutions began to make statements), to pay for additional ventures based on earlier people joining in. Or, in other words, a literal Ponzi scheme. This, unsurprisingly, caused a bit of a kerfuffle and is largely where most people caught news of this being a thing at all.

Within the week FTX went mostly under. However, during that time there were a couple of commits to the code-base and then the CEO disappeared + all of the money in FTX did as well one day later due to a hack (the two may or may not be related). People believe he has fled to Argentina but overall the story is a bit too up in the air to really confirm anything on that front.

I'm not following your logic - your analogy isn't quite accurate, since the bill wouldn't give out anything, just protect the acquisition of 'things' (Politician votes against bill making it legal to own dogs across the country despite already owning a dog). You and I are similar in habits. I can go without it for long periods. But I do still like it. The feeling, the energy, and the mood lifting it gives you. I want that every now and then. But I fucked up and let it become an every day thing and that's how I ended up here

I know I can do that. Just take a few every few weeks, because I did it before, for years. It's my poison and I have no trouble admitting that I enjoy it. I'm not fond of marijuana, and I don't drink or do anything else like it

But I will not allow myself to be stuck with the actual addiction for the rest of my life, and I'll do whatever it takes to stop it. And I will not allow myself to go back into the state that allowed me in this predicament in the first place

And I have methods for getting mine. They're all pharmaceutical as well. I also don't fuck with the other shit. I was even offered actual pharmaceutical (not dirty at all) fentanyl patches by my guy and turned them down

Buddy - we've never met irl but I only know you as the person you are now, which is a pretty awesome one :)

Well you don't have to take them life long, but in my experience(and most others) you'll crave them for life. I think a life completely without them is probably better than even a controlled habit, and I truly wish you luck with it, but I find in most cases it just doesn't work with most people in a permanent sense. Once you get addicted to something your brain chemistry changes permanently. Takes a lot of discipline.

I've gone months and months with no opioids completely, and got stressed out about something, or someone just came along with some pills I like and I was bored, and that is all it took.

I am a lot more responsible than most addicts, at least now, as I don't require it all the time, and also I won't do dirty 30s or fent/heroin, only pharm drugs, so that severely limits my consumption.

You live down south, so if you have a lot of using friends you know how much more hard/expensive it is to get anything now that isn't RC/fent now than it was 10-15 years ago. In 2008ish I probably had a dozen pill connects at once and I also went to doctors who would give me whatever I want and pharmacies that were happy to fill it.

Like I said I dose some methadone every Saturday morning, it doesn't really have a hold on me like in a physical sense but I'll be pissed all day if I don't get it. I can think of worse habits, I'm not endangering my veins/septum and I don't go out driving.

I've had an interest in solar for quite a while because I think the concept of being able to have your house generate its own power is cool.

Then the Texas winter of 2020/2021 happened and I had to get through multiple days in a row of not having power, and I was immediately planning to get solar as soon as I got a house. I'm not trying to deal with that ever again.
