baseball can be expensive because there is generally a ton of traveling, especially in any competitive leagues. the equipment isn't particularly expensive (bats can be a few hundreds of dollars) but a catcher i would imagine would have to spend a lot more than the average player.

yeah, that's why i said peewee because it is more expensive than baseball but not particularly expensive. definitely not in the neighborhood of thousands of dollars. i didn't play football in highschool but my highschool provided the equipment for all the football players and all the other high schools in my area did the same.
