I want to say something but I'm not sure how exactly to say it. I'm usually good at wording things diplomatically but I've only just woken up so I'm just gonna say it and leave it at that.

I have been involved in these events (I prefer to call them events over contests as contests implies you need to spend money to gain, which in my mind is definitely not the case) for the past 2 or so years, about 4 events in total. During these events I have seen copious amounts of generosity. Was some of that generosity taken advantage of? Of course it was. A good example of that was what Aki_Sora did. Having said that I do not believe that people participating in these events, whether they are solely receiving or not, are doing anything wrong. There is no provision stating that one must give in order to receive, and if there was I would not want to participate for that is definitely not in the spirit of these events.

It was not that long ago I was in a position where i would not be able gift anything at all. Times, they were tough, and for many years. Those times seem like a distant memory now, but a memory they still are. I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination. I am able to provide for myself and my loved ones, as well as help friends and family out where needed. As I've said before, for events such as these I put aside a little each week. Now I'm not suggesting that everyone needs to do that as in years gone by I sure as hell wouldn't have been able to afford to.

To me these events are about spreading a little joy around, especially given the past few years we've all had to endure, some worse than others. If you feel like spreading a little joy then by all means do so. If you feel like gifting only to a select group of people then you are free to do that too. And if you are in no position to gift at all then I see no reason why you should be excluded from events such as these. As long as people abide by the rules then there should be no issue, and as far as I can see everyone has done just that.

Please do not sour these events by insinuating others are doing the wrong thing merely by participating in accordance with the rules.

How's it going folks? How has your Christmas day been?

Kids had a great day, Hot Wheels mania in here today, my eldest ran around pinging as many things as possible with his new Sabrewing Minecraft bow and we played the child version of Cards Against Humanity called "Kids Against Maturity".

Wasn't enough time in the day for my kids to do everything they wanted before they passed out though lol.

Oh, Christmas dinner was sublime too and my wife makes a great cheesecake.

Hope everyone is having / had a pleasant time.
