Fictional content can and will harm people. There's people whose trauma gets reawakened upon seeing art or games with bad actions. And the easily impressionable are affected too.
So do you want the world of fiction to be a place where nothing bad ever happens? If you want to discuss things like age ratings, that is a different conversation.

Seems like a whole bundle of stupidity. Bad things exist. Bad things exist in fiction. Bad things exist on the internet. It's sad that some people are so hurt that simply reading it can make them feel horrible, but it's up to that person to deal with it.

For the rest of it, it's fiction. It's gross fiction, but fiction all the same. Saying someone will be influenced by it goes back to the violence in video games nonsense.

I think when a VA is specifically a big part of a brand it should be seen as a moneymaker.

Flat fees are applicable when you just need voice work. When you need a specific person who brings value to the game then the pay should go up.

If Charles Martinet isn't a millionaire from Mario by now something is wrong. Doesn't really matter that he barely has any lines. He brings a specific voice to the role that has proven great value.
VAs don't really have the star impact of celebrities, so they aren't really selling themselves or signing their public lives away in most cases. They're still presumably making hundreds of thousands per year if they're making thousands off 2-5 days work, unless the VA world is so shitty that they're scrambling for work at all times.

You don't think a lead actress for a franchise like Bayonetta (where her personality is a pretty big selling point) being paid only $4k flat speaks for itself?

Platinum paid $7k for a YouTuber to promote the Wonderful 101 Kickstarter.
I've never really seen being a VA as a huge moneymaker (relative to other media work at least), so it doesn't seem that crazy. Though I don't really know much about their pay structure, which someone in the industry outright breaking down would be nice. It's not like they have to name people as long as they're credible.

Seems low.

But I think the sticking point here is that she isn't just some regular VA. At this point she's the lead voice in an established franchise. That should be worth more. The response to all of this is evidence enough.
I hate when people in situations like this don't throw out amounts. With just some vague assertion, it's hard to tell if she was basically told she's worth less than dirt or simply a bit underballed. It sounds like they definitely did her dirty relative to her role, but being $2k off would be a world of difference from being $10-15k off in skeeviness.

Overall, it's definitely going to filter out the low-tier commission-based artists. How long it will take them to reach the level of cohesive style is another question. There's also the current issue of them simply pilfering from existing art way too heavily, but that will probably be solved in time. It probably won't completely kill the good artist, but it's definitely going to heavily change the dynamics going into the future as the tech evolves year after year.

Because giving power to the government to decide what is "harmful information" is a horrible idea. Look at the UK and people getting arrested over Tweets. That's not slippery slope yet, but it's damn close to it.

Money isn't love. Money doesn't raise a child, it doesn't teach them things that children need to learn and to grow. Money buys things but it's not a stand in for a parent.

Grandparents are old and their contributions will be limited in what they can do.
The whole two parents thing is just broad statistics. There will be outliers on both sides of the bell curve, so you cannot really say anything about a singular person's upbringing just based on how many influences they have in their life. All you can say that statistically it's better to have two parents, but it's not inherently some kind of horrible, tragic situation if they don't.
