I can't stand action games where you hit an enemy and 30+ separate damage numbers fly out of them
I like information, but it's all useless if it's too small to read or too much to comprehend. FF15 was bad with that: I often wasn't really sure what the results of my attacks were. Did I hit a weakness? What did light orange instead of light yellow mean again? Did that hurt it or not?

Not easily knowing those basic things was REALLY a turnoff. Then again, for 15 in particular maybe it was by design: once you figured out that warping was brokenly effective there was no need to pay attention to any of it anyways.

And now it looks like Star Ocean 6 will be the next RPG to use ridiculously small, illegible font. Do they honestly not try these out on TVs at all? I shouldn't have to sit 5' away from a 55" screen with my 20/20 vision.

I like some action games, but I'll agree that I continue to get more and more bored with FF's decision to become an expensive, identity-less WRPG clone while rooting out every JRPG element in their past. I thought FF15 would be the first I didn't play (apart from the MMOs, which I have zero interest in) but I ended up with it anyways (present). I won't buy 16 unless the reviews are surprisingly good AND I see some other good reasons to get a PS5.

If 14 wasn't such a success I'd predict 16 would bomb hard (the nostalgia is gone), but as is...it's seems like this is what they are. Past time to move on if you were a fan of their old stuff only.

The same applies to anything you eat, really. You have to make good choices about what you put in your body, but just because something can cause an immediate effect doesn't necessarily mean it's bad for you in the long term. Many narcotics are bad for you, of course: smoking, heavy drinking, etc...but it's likely safer to drink moderately than it is to, say, eat at Burger King daily.

Yeah, cheap hard alcohol is for getting drunk and nothing else. There's a reason they screw around with the good stuff for years.

The medium grade whiskey/bourbon (i.e. Wescott, what I tend to buy) is solid for mixed drinks, but you want the top shelf stuff if you're going to drink it straight.

This. I get whole kalamatas with spicy sausage on my pizza, and it's delicious.

Black olives are good, but there are better things to put on pizza. And if you do get black olives, get the ones without the black dye. Black olives are actually dark brown...and they taste better that way.

Pineapple, as everyone sane knows, does not belong on pizza. Does anyone eat pasta with red sauce, cheese, and pineapple? ...no? Case closed.

Biden can certainly be criticized in areas, but this isn't one of them. Putin didn't invade his neighbors TOO flagrantly when he had a useful bootlicker as US President as Trump (probably?) would have stopped trying to dismantle NATO given the European outcry. But when the US President was (rightfully) calling out his crap then he had less to lose.

Very easy to say, and true in some ways. But the people that you are probably talking about likely don't know how to execute those ideas (and the ideas are likely more flawed than they realize). What we truly need is a clear reason to exist as a nation...and nobody has a non-awful answer to that one. Until we know what said reason is more and more people will just act purely in their own self interest and decline will continue.

My point isn't that fresh blood wouldn't be good (I support term limits and better ways to get aging members of congress to retire). My point is that America no longer seems to put a value on experience: we only seem to want partisan firebrands. Experience is very valuable in terms of actually accomplishing things, however.

I dunno: I actually think he's quietly doing as much as it's possible to do in the current environment. He's not, of course, a great and inspiring speaker/leader of people...and that's a very important part of the job. But if I have to choose between functional and boring vs inspiring and ineffective (or Trump, shudder) I choose boring.

I think an age limit would cause more problems than it would solve. And if we're adding rules affecting which candidates can be considered I think we should focus our energies on preventing insurrectionists/con artists/etc.

You know what I meant. He is a villain but not in a cartoon, James Bond sense. Despite how corrupt and destabilized Russia is, there is still a chain of command when it comes to using nuclear weapons. Just because crazy Putin orders a nuclear strike doesn't mean it will happen. There are still people in Russia that know what nuclear war will lead to and they want to live to see another day.
Right, that factors into the low chance. But there are also people who would love to nuke the US...and from all indications Putin remains firmly in command. My point was the odds are very low, but not 0%. Even a 1% chance is unacceptably high.

Because even when Russia is at war with Ukraine the world still revolves around the usa?
Everything Putin does revolves around his perceived competition with NATO, which he perceives as led by the USA. In the case of this topic the US is Putin's nemesis because he has made it so. He views Ukraine as a plaything in that competition. Of course he's wrong and Ukraine alone - at least with Western help - appears to be more than he can handle. And the US doesn't want to compete with Russia: they want to ignore (and occasionally partner with) Russia.

Bartiscool posted...
Putin is some evil villain
He attacked a country unprovoked and is threatening nuclear war. As far as world leaders go, that's more or less the definition of 'evil villain'. The question is how mentally stable he is. Best guess is that he's fairly stable, although he has concentrated on theoretical grievances and has - at least until recently - lost touch with realities on the ground. But even mentally stable people can do 'crazy' things when desperate...

Very low, but not quite 0. Putin's crazy and desperate, and while I don't think he's quite crazy and desperate enough to start nuking people, I can't completely rule out the possibility.
The worry is not so much that he would decide to do it, it's that he raises tensions so much that someone overreacts to a situation. Orrr...if he becomes despondent enough would he nuke the US while committing suicide? Point being, agreed that it's near 0 but not 0.

As far as technical capabilities go...who knows. I'll agree it's far more likely that they are reliably able to strike their neighbors than the US. Note that Alaska neighbors Russia, however...

There's a continuum between crackpot theory and demonstrable proof.

In physics it's just a theory that - per the math - an infinite number of universes could have been generated during the big bang. As said above, if truly infinite then there should be some (an infinite number, actually) that are exactly like ours but "insert small change here". Actually there should be an infinite number exactly like ours, also. And an infinite number of universes which are only different from ours because I misspelled the word "physics" in my first sentence.

Frankly it's so wide open I don't find it as interesting as many people seem to. Infinite is so infinite that if one universe blew up entirely it would make no difference as there are infinite more (and an infinite number of them are blowing up every second). It's impossible to care about IMO. And they may or may not exist in the first place and we will never know. And if our own universe is infinite (still a possibility) there should be infinite planets exactly like Earth out there anyways.
