Fair enough, I misunderstood what they said. I suppose it's probably better to not let a bunch of companies die for using the wrong bank.

However, if the government will guarantee massive deposits when banks go under, why shouldn't companies keep their money in banks doing risky business? I assumed discouraging that was the main point of the deposit guarantee limit in the first place.

Some thoughts on the Survivor/Simpsons match:

1) It's interesting that everybody seems to agree that Survivor's cast is (or at least includes) the contestants, and not just from one competition but from all of them. I'm not saying that's wrong, but compare that to the earlier matches with Price is Right and Jeopardy where nobody thought of it that way.

2) While most of Simpsons characters aren't very strong (so many young children and comically weak old people!), I think Homer's many cartoon-ish durability feats might actually be enough to make up for that? He takes damage that would would kill any real person all the time. There's a good chance he wins by just letting you punch him until you're exhausted.

Maybe people were expecting a "who would win in a fight" round and wanted to see them lose? These aren't even good baby shows, so I can't think of any other reason.
