Playing Theatrhythm recently made me notice how much of a downgrade the FF12 Zodiac OST is compared to the original. Thankfully that game at least looks really good.

Literally everything in the HD version looks worse other than the skybox in the first pic.

And it's not niversally a better skybox since in the second pic the HD skybox is way worse!

It's strange to me that I never saw it come up until super recently, especially with how much scrutiny HD rereleases get nowadays.

I guess it was a different time? Big HD rerelease were a lot rarer then. Even side releases got completely screwed up at the time like Sonic Adventure DX, and few people seemed to care.

Stormblood is, overall, better than Heavensward - Heavensward has the better story but Stormbloods gameplay improvements, dungeons, trials, and areas give it the edge. This used to be a generally held opinion but now it seems like a hot take.

It's become a hot take because more and more people, especially after the Shadowbringers explosion, are getting into the game without the experience of how the old content used to play, and unlike myself most people aren't going to seek out that information out of curiosity. An enormous portion of the player base has no idea that melee skills used to cost meter, or that sprinting used your entire bar up. It's hard to appreciate the advancements when you never saw the original, and as a result the only thing people DO take into consideration is the story.

Just imagine, nobody starting up now is EVER going to experience Netflix Roulette.

I do think there's still obvious signs of the improvements in Stormblood though. The trials are definitely at the forefront of that.

Very wierd conflicting emotions about this. I could never stand when Rorie was actually in content, but him leaving is this last shred of connection being torn down.

I don't want to use Kimhari at all because Blue Mages suck, but the game isn't going to let me get away with not fielding Kimhari a bunch to get him up to speed.

And yes, I do hate Blue Mages because I consider having to go around and learn all the abilities to be a waste of time (though admittedly it's not so bad because in FFX because of the structure).

I didn't use that goat loser in Chained Echoes even once!

I'm not willing to give stuff a pass for wasting my time for no reason, no. It doesn't really matter if it's not very much time. Even in games I love, I consider such things to always be a flaw.

I wouldn't even consider it to be a small amount of time here. In a game with hundreds if not thousands of random encounters, it adds up!

On a similar note, any FF game with truly random battles is a problem. Even the best ones are extremely difficult to go back to because random battle have always been bad.

There's a mod on PC that makes every character gain AP regardless of their participation and wow is it an improvement not to have to deal with that tedium. Really surprised they elected not to fix that with the remasters.

Would not have made me a fan of the game, but certainly would have helped.

I also recently found out that the HD version of FFX actually has way worse faces and boy that sucks! Some of those comparison shots are damning, the HD version basically got rid of all emotional expressions in the game.

Instead of trying to be sarcastic about it, how about you explain why having to swap in every character in every battle for no reason just to makes sure they all get AP is a good thing?

It does encourage you to use every character in every battle, but it's honestly not that difficult to do.

Not being difficult and not being an annoying, pointless time waster are two very different things.

Wakka not getting experience because I don't want to swap him in for a pointless pot shot every single fight in an area with no birds is bad game design.

I don't know how I missed posting this since I made a whole topic about it, but FFX is a pretty mediocre, boring game. None of the characters are good. The battle system is very overrated, encouraging grinding and heavenly favoring specific party members for specific enemies in every random encounter sucks.

Any RPG where your unfielded party members don't gain exp and skill points is flawed, and in FFX it is a particularly egregious sin since it contradicts the entire goal of the battle system/encounter types.

I think so. I rememeber posting that rumor here when it was first going around, and was told it was never gonna happen lol. At this point it feels like he's trying to end it even faster than was rumored.

On a much brighter side, totally dropping JJK made me search around and I finally decided to start Kaiju No 8. 2 volumes in, and yeah, this is QUALITY content. Hopefully it keeps it up.

I'm sure people are tired of hearing about it and me threatening to drop it, but I've hit my last straw with JJK. At this point, I don't think I even want to watch the next season of the anime even though that part is fantastic. I think I'm just out before I completely start hating it.

I love the final boss of Dual Destinies. Obviously everything else about the ending of Spirit of Justice is better other than the lack of Athena, but I prefer the actual character of the main DD villain much more than SoJ's.

Not wrong, but the lack of general infected presence throughout kind of makes that big scene in the neighborhood stand out as very....video gamey. Especially with a big boss monster showing up, which frankly was a bit silly.

I'm not usually one to say that's a problem, but it does feel slightly inconsistent.

I'm just being nitpicky, though, show was excellent.

I don't think cutting out so much of the infected from the show jives well with curing the infection being the primary goal. I would need to double check, but were they even in half the episodes?

Other than that, great show. Probably better if I didn't already know what was gonna happen, always tough for me to watch such direct adaptation in my medium.

XIV has the best story and characters in the franchise.

For people who have actually played it all the way to current content this take isn't even hot.

DR is the only one I have any interest in reading fanfiction for so there's that going for it.

I've probably read over a million words of DR fic at this point across the franchise lol.

Comparing them was probably the wrong phrase, I more meant I have no interest in ranking them next to eachother in the same list.

I don't consider ZE, DR, and AA to be comparable just because they're all various forms of VNs.

I like them all for different reasons and have zero interest in comparing them to eachother, just like I won't be comparing this new Master Detective Aechives franchise when it starts.

Tom Hanks really was dreadful in Elvis.

That movie gave me shell-shock, I didn't really understand just how terrible it was until days later.

The smartphone anime has a second season and somehow 2 other shows were higher priority cuts for the poll.

The seasonal chart tricked me into thinking there was a new season of Ranking of Kings coming out, I will not forgive it.

Nah, it's similar to the Naoto stuff in Persona 4. It's someone feeling the need to pretend to be a man to be taken seriously in a male-dominated profession.

There's a community of thousands so convinced that Naoto was trans and the writers were censored that they've built entire mods for the game to change it to reflect this.

Yeah, I'm sure the writers who in P5 were still putting the predatory, flaming gays trying to get with young boys scene into the game DEFINITELY had a nuanced trans narrative in mind for Naoto.

That part definitely sucks, but I do love 5-3 still, mainly because Athena is so good. Seriously it's infuriating that she'll likely never get her own game.

Honest mistake, I myself have gone back and forth between these two topics like 9 times now lol.

I need to finish playing this. I got through 3 cases and just forgot to continue.

I only have the original trilogy to compare to, but I thought GAA1 was fine from what I'd seen so far.

The first half of GAA1 is the best part, and if you left off on "case" 3 then that's the high point of the game.

Case 4 is absolutely DREADFUL, one of the worst AA cases period, so sadly would not be coming back on a high note lol.

Case 5 is a lot more mixed reception because I know some people like it a lot and others don't like it at all. Personally it cause me actual mental anguish with how much I hated it. I'm pretty sure this case was responsible for me getting literally sick IRL after playing it. I had never been more down on Ace Attorney as a franchise than when I was forcing my way through GAA1-5.

Ouch, well hopefully it's patched by the time I get to it lol.

...OK I'm going to need confirmation on this motion control stuff because I pretty much only play switch games docked with a real controller.

There are definitely cases that are too big for their britches, but 6-5 isn't one of them. It absolutely justifies it's time. If it had been split into a short 6-5 and then was made 6-6 for it's remainder, as I've seen tossed around, there would be no difference but semantics.

It's definitely scary, which is actually going to be something I have to get used to. I love RE4 but typically don't like horror games, and RE4 never bothered me because the only scary thing in that original game is the Regenrators. Here, it's scary already in just the village, so I can only imagine what it'll be like as it goes on.

Mostly out of spite. A waste of Athena, girl needs her own game.

2-4 isn't that good. Incredibly overrated culprit. AA2 has very little going for it.

Demo was fantastic.

I've "solved" the original games Village section from doing it dozens of times, but I got absolutely blasted in this, died 3 times. I think knowing it like the back of my hand actually made it harder because I was going through the exact same motions I'm used to lol.
