The two best parts of the comic were the constant narration and the godlike artwork. Latter is much harder to pull off in a movie setting, and I'm not sure they'll commit to the narration. Hope it's done well regardless though.

Went and read Woman of Tomorrow due to the announcement. Was really good! Not sure how suited it is to a movie though.

It has been 9 years since Bioware released a (non-collection) WRPG.

I can understand Luke at the top even though I'm not an Abyss fan, but my opinion of Yuri has gone down over the years. At the time he was special because there were basically zero JRPG protagonists with his level of maturity, but I think the genre has evolved somewhat since then. Doesn't help that his character arc feels unfinished.

I read one comment talking about how, by the time this season is finished, the game versions of Joel and Ellie will feel 'wrong' to a majority of people who've experienced TLOU's story. And I super do not know how to feel about that!

WB Discovery is now reporting that The Last of Us had the largest episode 1 to episode 2 viewership gain in HBO history. It was up 22% to 5.7 million viewers Sunday night.

This is now a topic about The Last of Us being a good, successful show.

It's not simple ratings - it's specifically shows that are being talked about. I actually can't find any solid numbers on what Velma's watch metrics are.

The original trailer was really bad. Don't think the marketing ever recovered from it.

Well yeah, everyone has personal preferences and edge cases. I was speaking in more of a broader sense. I'm sure there's people that loved God of War 2018 and despised Ragnarok, but Ragnarok was expected to be a worthy follow-up, and for most people it was.

Even then, though, I find that my personal preference for games is easier to predict than for other media.

This isn't the norm in most media industries! With movies, trailers can be super misleading, and hyped sequels to great movies can be awful. Same goes with TV. With books and music, you have even less to go off of - just trust that the creator won't screw up.

Games, however, show so much of themselves pre-release that once you've been around for a while (and know how to spot bullshit PR statements) it's not hard to predict how good it will be long before it comes out. While there are some outliers, overall I can't remember the last time a game came out that was wildly better/worse than what people expected. Maybe Cyberpunk, but that was a result of lots of straight-up false advertising, and lots of people realized the writing on the wall when it got delayed repeatedly.

Maybe this is different if you...I don't know, only play obscure unproven indie games, but I think it largely holds up throughout the industry.

Enjoying the ATE appreciation in this topic. More games should do that.

Reluctant Hero can be tougher to pull off in a video game format because their attitude is directly at odds with the player. I personally like that contrast, but a lot of people don't.

The first game is both awful and an abomination of completely broken coding. Two and three are just "bad*.

Like for example in the first game, it's possible to level up and start being completely unable to hit/damage a specific enemy you had no problem with before. On your next level up, the problem will correct and you will be able to hit that enemy again.

Comparing Engage's credits with Three Houses' credits is interesting, because it looks like almost no one from Three Houses worked on Engage.

Based on the credits, Three Houses and Engage don't share the same writers - and it makes sense since Three Houses was written by Koei Tecmo (a fact a lot of FE fans don't even know).

Horizon dropped off, huh.

Honestly even without that, you could just look at how Sigurd was promoted heavily when Engage was revealed. There's a reason they did that.

The FE4 remake is essentially confirmed.

Three Houses has a great story if you take the best parts of all the routes, mash them together, and ignore the game's inherent problems with pacing and structure.

I still enjoyed the narrative but people give it a lot of leeway.

Episode 2 beated. Again, it's not a great show,and I probably won't watch Ep3 when it comes out, but I probably enjoyed it more than I enjoyed the Venture Bros Scooby-Doo parody episode, which is 100% the worst episode of Venture Bros in the entire series.

Edelgard is too divisive even in the FE fanbase to have any real strength. She'd be like, Chrom-level at best, and he didn't exactly light up the place.
