I manage a movie theater. We participated in the $3 admission price on Saturday for National Cinema Day. We are normally very slow this time of year so you expect to be a bit understaffed with college kids leaving and high schoolers not being able to work as late. Well, add to that yesterday a couple not coming in and one quitting made for a hectic day.
I've worked much busier days but the lack of staffing made it seem that much more than it was.
Plus, they literally gave us less than a week before telling us about this day so no time to prepare really.

This reminds me of a couple weeks at a summer camp in 1993 or 1994. Each day, our common area was covered in thousands of millipeeds. The custodian would come and sweep them up each day and the next day, thousands more.
What's worse was it was our scuba diving week. We were supposed to put our gear each day in our rooms (far enough away where the millipeeds couldn't get). One day no one did (except me) and left it in the common area. Well, you can guess what happened overnight. Millipeeds all over and in our equipment.

I knew what I signed up for when I got married and had our daughter. The first 3 months is always the worst because of the lack of sleep, but it gets easier as time goes on and the baby matures.
Especially when you have multiple kids. I practically thrive on no sleep now after 3 kids and working a night job.

Yes. It's been eye opening, as I never really cared about calorie counts before. But now that I'm losing weight, I look at the menus in shock. I went to dinner a few weeks ago and some of the menu items had over 2,000 calories when you count the soda. That one meal would put me over my daily calorie limit lol.
Same. When I started my weight loss journey last year, calorie counting (along with exercise) was my biggest driving factor. Seeing calorie counts have definitely affected my meal choices. Now that I've completed my weight loss, I'll still be mindful of it but still use it to make better choices as well.
Of course, I gotta treat myself occasionally.

No.

I manage a movie theater where the company whines about payroll when slow so we have to cut. On the other hand, they will tell us to add shows at the last minute, especially for Thursday night premiers that are busy. I've always been of the mindset of I cannot force staff to stay. I'll ask, plead, incentive it, but if they say no, I thank them and that's the end of it.
