And the purge series lives and dies on it's depictions of racism. And at some point, at least to me, when you lean on it that hard you're no longer making a statement about it and instead are just amplifying it's message.

I feel like all the purge sequels are exactly the same: Amazing concept, miserable execution, and somewhere between vaguely and overtly racist.

What's impressive is that Terrifier received six 30's and two 29's, and it STILL outlasted three movies on the list.

That... is rather impressive actually. Those two top tens carried weight.

I get why people might not like this one. For me it's so bad it's great again. If it never turns that corner for you, you're going to hate it.

But man, what a ride. Glad it got out of the immediate basement at least.

Yeah Chucky is like the classic villain I have the least attachment to.

Got take: Leprechaun does everything Chucky does, but better.

That being said, I loved that post credit so much

Watched SiREN. It's... basically Amateur Night with a likeable protagonist. And at 80 minutes it's a brisk jaunt into some weirdness that I wished they would have leaned more heavily into. Lily is still great, a few really good scenes. Nothing amazing, but I enjoyed it.

Blackcoat's Daughter is great and I have a guilty pleasure for Nerve.

REC will forever be king of the found footages.

Found footage is often like edging. An hour-fifteen of building you up and then 15 minutes of release. You don't need a big budget for that, which is what I think makes the subgenre a lot of the time. Now with an anthology that obviously goes out the window since everything is more condensed, but I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with a slow build to one big finale.

Huh I always thought people adored v/h/s for some reason. Top of my bottom half, but I still enjoyed it a lot more than some on the list. None of the shorts were awful to me, but none came close to Amateur Night, so it was a steady fall after a rush out of the gate.

I guess found footage went out of style at some point? I saw people trashing on Blair Witch earlier and that is crazy to me.

Since I pinged this one dead on, I don't have much to add here that wasn't already said. I'll just say that I was actively upset that I wasted time watching Bird Box, something that cannot be said for the other 29. I have issues with some of the others, but I was just dumb angry at this entire movie from concept to execution. It doesn't even veer into "so bad, it's good" territory that I love some B-Horror for. It's just bad-bad.
