I had the cats out earlier today, and the female cat was napping in the dirt. The male cat went up to her and actually started grooming her, licking her head. Naturally, she woke up and growled at him. It was so weird seeing him do something so bold. They've been together for years, so he has to know she doesn't care for him by now.

Finally finished that Infamous Second Son replay, after being kept busy kept delaying me. I think the biggest annoyance about the game is its lighting system. It does this thing where, if there's a bright light source on the screen, everything else around it darkens. It's really stupid and annoying, especially in the investigation sections, and when you get the neon powers. I wanted to get the good ending just because it makes the city bright and sunlit. I hope it was just Sucker Punch having trouble adjusting to developing for a new system, because I definitely don't remember this issue in Ghost of Tsushima. I could definitely see this lighting issue leading to many cheap deaths in harder difficulties.

The reworked Paper Trail is just them skipping over the website sections and going straight to the next mission in the game. It removes a lot of lore and character motivation. At one point, you're supposed to look for an area in a photo the site showed, with the game giving no indicator. The Sucker Punch site update announcing the Paper Trail rework was supposed to have the photo, but it's broken. Luckily other sites have it, but the location it shows is something you'd likely glance over and not notice. They could have at least added a search radius on the map.

They're finally making an Assassins Creed in Feudal Japan. Doubt it'll be better than Ghost of Tsushima, though. At least it's being made by the team behind Odyssey and Syndicate, which I thought were some of the more fun ones. I even played the team's other big game, Immortals, and that was alright, too. Though all three share some lackluster writing. The writing's not boring, though. It's lively, keeps the pace going, and knows when to let the more somber moments have their time.

I just hope it has the classic loot system of Origins and Odyssey. Selling and dismantling excess gear was a good source of money and materials, and it helped keep me playing. Valhalla got rid of it and made every gear piece unique, like God of War 2018, but that resulted in a much more boring game that was extremely stingy. I wasn't compelled to try new gear much since the higher upgrade materials were very rare and difficult to find.

They also announced another AC game called Mirage, which is supposed to be more like the classic ones, set primarily in a big established city and more of an emphasis on stealth, instead of the more brawler style seen in the last two. I like that it's got one pre-set protagonist again, because when your character can be either gender, you have to water their personality down so their mannerisms don't lean too far in either direction.

Decided to give Infamous: Second Son another playthrough. According to my save data, I haven't played since 2015; possibly within the last couple of weeks before I moved to where I am now. God, I still miss that old place even all these years later...

Something that I always found odd is being given the option to restrain the wounded DUP troops. In the first two games, all your enemies were genuine menaces to society, so restraining them for the cops to round up made sense. But here, the DUP are backed by the government. Legally, they're not really doing anything wrong, so who's coming by to collect them?

Also, they recently made the bonus mission Cole's Legacy available for free on the PS store, as well as reworking the Paper Trail bonus mission since the website for it shut down. Man, some of those puzzles were a pain, and you didn't even get to keep the outfits in a new game.

Oh, wow. I'm glad I kept the original parts package, because the replacement one was missing one part type entirely.

FINALLY. FUCKING FINALLY. The replacement parts are here! In an undamaged package! I now have more of the formerly missing parts than I know what to do with!

Just got back from seeing Bullet Train with my brother. The movie was fucking awesome! The whole thing takes place on a bullet train, so the whole plot is tightly focused on the train and the people in it. There's all sorts of well-done reveals and plot twists, so you're never really sure what to expect next. It's got a really damn good sense of humor, since this was made by the director of Deadpool 2.

Well, looks like Saints Row 2022 is a flop. Partially because of a lot of bugs, and partially because it's politically correct. You know, that thing the first three weren't (never played IV or Gat out of Hell).

On the other end of the quality spectrum, we have new Callisto Protocol gameplay. Naturally, it's gonna be gory.

They've added stealth to it, and I wonder how essential it's gonna be. Will it be viable for most of the game, or will it be like the first Evil Within, where it largely stops even being doable in the later stages?

They also officially revealed Dead Island 2, which will focus on just being fun and having a cheesy story. The originals were definitely held back by the somewhat dour tone. I wonder if they're gonna reveal the fates of the original DI protagonists, whose fates were left ambiguous at the end of Riptide.

Holy shit, I thought I was the only one here who thought that. I'm glad more people are becoming aware of this. They're rejecting stuff that's cramming in modern politics and stuff like that into what's supposed to be escapist entertainment. Top Gun: Maverick deliberately avoided that, and it recently beat Infinity War in revenue.

There's more I could say about this, but the mods would gut me, so I'd better stop.

There's going to be movies based on Comix Zone and Space Channel 5, probably because the Sonic movies turned out well. The description for CZ already has political correctness in it, so that doesn't bode well. SC5 could definitely work as a cheesy, high-energy musical.

Antonblast looks incredible! It's majorly inspired by Wario Land 4, down to the visual style of a GBA game. If one of the comments is to be believed, they even got Charles Martinet to do a Wario-like voice for the dialogue at the start of the countdown. It's going to be coming to the Switch.
