Although I know the temptation, I used to find glitches with friends as a young teen online and cheat with them to troll. Ironically, I got very good with the weapon I cheated with. Officially the PhD will be awarded from a university. But the work will be at the institute in question, and the prof is (alongside his university post) the director of the institute. Though how it works exactly is one of my questions I'll ask tomorrow

Not sure how competitive the spot in particular is, but the institute can be considered the German analogue to NASA, so I imagine it's pretty competitive

Smartphones had been around for a long time before Apple and Google got involved.

They were originally an evolution of the PDA. The first thing dubbed the smartphone was the MPX200 by Motorola which had Windows Mobile on it. This was in 2003.

I had been through like a dozen Windows Mobile devices before the first iPhone was released and then the Google G1.

I said touchscreen ones. I don't remember if the original iPhone was touchscreen though

It's definitely annoying. I have a long term friend who has some republican friends and has started going that way. Luckily, he's just more invested in the conspiracy aspect than anything else. LG actually made the first touchscreen smartphone iirc. Apple definitely deserves credit for the massive popularity, at least in the US.
