Most people I've met (myself included) that have depression issues don't take care of themselves I'm not saying that to be mean it's what I've observed.

How many healthy people that are physically active and maintain a healthy diet do you know that have depression problems in comparison to people that are not physically active and have the terrible average American diet.

The times where I have got on a health kick my mental health has improved drastically. And then when I fell off the horse of taking care of myself my mental health took a nose dive. Directly trackable improvement of mental health. Turns out sitting around all day playing video games and eating Cheetos isn't very good for you physically or mentally. Again I'm speaking from personal experience and many people I know.

A lot of people's mental health issues simply come from not taking care of themselves. Having poor life circumstances. Having a stressful job that doesn't meet their skill set very well. Etc.

I used to think the same earlier on with my antidepressants. Oh this miracle wonder drug. But I noticed my memory, ability to focus, ability to learn new things, etc got dramatically worse. So I'm basically in a fog of "contentment" but it's completely fabricated and a bunch of crap

Sorry not sorry. Mental faculties went drastically worse over time. I'm actively getting off one of them and then will start the taper off of the other over time. Paired with the fact that they've known for at least 15 years that the whole theory behind "chemical imbalance" is a thing that simply does not exist.
