Rogue Squadron pretty good? I saw it inspired a lot of games and whatnot.

I was looking at a few of these, and I, Jedi. I figure I'll burn through a couple a week, depending.

A lot of stuff in the rogue squadron books was based off the xwing game. Apparently one of the battles is pretty much a walkthrough for one of the missions.

My takeaway from this topic is that people want a faithful adaptation badly enough that they believe some random dude on GameFAQs.GameSpot.com might actually take Hollywood by storm and direct the remake.

In all honesty, a "more faithful" adaptation is the only way to go with a remake. If you want to try and do a new movie with the Sam Neil Alan Grant, the Laura Dern Ellie Sattler, the Jeff Goldblum Ian Malcolm, and the Richard Attenborough John Hammond, you're going to lose. There are no weaknesses in those performances, so it's impossible for a remake to try and beat the '93 film at its own game. You have to make the characters (and scenarios) different. And what better way is there than to make them more in-line with the book upon which the story is based?

To have a remake, you really have to justify the need for a remake. We went from silent cinema to talking pictures, from black and white to being in color, from heavily censored to able to explore greater freedoms of content. There hasn't been some major cinematic overhaul since the 1990s that would warrant another Jurassic Park. But if you make a movie that is true to the source material, then you have a reason for a movie beyond, "We want more money."

Just make someone yell "oh shit!" In the middle of a crowded theater. It'll be hilarious.
