Not really. Inbetween RE games all Chris is... More RE games. Off screen he's still fighting zombies. It's a very dull character.

Chris has flaws. He suffers from insecurity, is hard on himself, and has fallen victim to alcoholism. Chris has ptsd and suffers from survivor guilt/depression. Not only this but back when he was in the airforce he was too combative about his positions which got him in trouble for insubordination.

Yeah but that's the thing. The "flaws" aren't character flaws. They are picked for the moment without rhyme or reason.

In RE1 he is completely non plussed by the Zombies and the death of his friends. Then after RE3 he goes off the grid to fight more Zombies. Then Leon finds him (somehow off screen) and he continues to be non-plused as he fights more Zombies.

Then in Relevations the BSAA leader turns out to be corrupt and blew up an entire city and Chris doesn't really care about that either.

Then in RE5 he has survivor guilt because Jill died. Except she didn't, she was just made into Wesker's sex slave for years and got a new hair cut. Niether Jill or Chris seem to care about this.

So... There's no guilt then?

Then RE6 just made up that he a squad and made up that his sqaud died and now he has PTSD... It wasn't any of the events of RE1/CV/Relevations that did it. It was some off screen shit.

And then in RE7 he's fine again. In Not A Hero (in which he spends the entire game being a hero) his squad is killed again but he barely even seems to notice or react.

And then in RE8 he's nowa complete idiot for no reason and has survivor guilt but has a new squad who he has been working with for years and they're fine?

You could replace Chris with a new character in literally every game he appears in and not only would you lose nothing, the plots would actually be more consistent.

He's just a plank of wood. There's no ark. His lack of a reaction in the early games goes no where and his on again off again survivor guilt for people we've never seen/heard of or people who are actually fine doesn't build to anything.

There isn't even any tension in RE5 where he wants Sheva to fuck off before she gets herself killed.

Hell the end of RE8 has him right back where we started at the end of RE1.

"Well I'm glad that development is sorted. Let's go to Europe and investigate this shady shit further."

Chris and Leon really stick out as Resident Evil's "characters who we have to use because they're popular but because they're popular we can't give them personalities."

Hell Chris doesn't even look consistency like the same person across the series.

You even see this on display in the Remakes.

They made Jill fall over twice and vomit at one of the zombies in RE1make.
In RE3make she's full of personality and bouncing off Carlos and Nikoali with jokes, complaints, frustration.

Chris on the other hand is still a plank of wood .

Remember 10 or so years ago when animal activists kept comparing animal farming to slavery? But then they stopped because it was a disgusting thing to say (or I guess optics are more likely). This is that but kind of sort of maybe not as bad.

They didn't stop for fear of offending people, they stopped because it was getting old and they wanted new ways to offend people.

Women who are operated on by a male surgeon are much more likely to die, experience complications and be readmitted to hospital than when a woman performs the procedure, research reveals.

Women are 15% more liable to suffer a bad outcome, and 32% more likely to die, when a man rather than a woman carries out the surgery, according to a study of 1.3 million patients.

Jerath and her colleagues analysed the records of 1,320,108 patients in Ontario who underwent 21 common surgical procedures performed by 2,937 surgeons between 2007 and 2019. They ranged from hip and knee replacements and weight loss surgery to removal of an appendix or gall bladder and more complicated operations such as a heart bypass, aneurysm repair and brain surgery.

For each of the 1.3m operations they analysed, the sex of each patient and details of how their procedure had gone and also the sex of the surgeon who carried it out.

They found that men who had an operation had the same outcomes regardless of whether their surgeon was male or female. However, women experienced better outcomes if the procedure had been performed by a female surgeon compared with a male surgeon. There were no gender differences in how surgery went for either men or women operated on by a female surgeon.

For example, while 1.4% of women who had a cardiothoracic operation with a male surgeon died, fewer 1% did so when a female surgeon was involved. In both brain surgery and vascular surgery, while 1.2% of women who underwent either type of operation with a male surgeon died, again that proportion was much lower among those whose surgeon was female 0.9% giving a 33% higher risk of death.

Later online I heard about this awful "Sonic 06" Game and assumed it was a different game.

Dunno if I just got lucky but I didn't find it nearly as hard or find half as many glitches as most people did

More than 27,000 chickens were boiled alive in a ventilation system malfunction, described by a judge as a disaster.Hudson & Sanders, the firm managing the Leicestershire poultry farm, were fined 44,000 over the computer failure

Leicester Magistrates Court heard there were 50,000 chickens at Hose Lodge Farm in Colston Bassett when the systems that regulated air flow failed.

As the temperature in the large barn rose rapidly, more than half of the animals died, while the ones that survived still suffered dramatically.

The birds could not cool down because of the ventilation failure, causing them heat stress, unnecessary suffering and death.

An alarm sounded when the temperature rose to 37C, alerting staff, but it should have been set to go off 10C lower, the court was told.

Leicestershire County Council prosecuted Hudson & Sanders for being negligent in its care of the birds, which were being farmed for their meat.

Gary Connors, from the county council, said: This was an awful but thankfully rare incident in terms of the scale of unnecessary suffering.

However, we hope the level of fine prompts businesses operating in this sector to review their operations to ensure they have adequate staffing and procedures in place to avoid such a distressing incident happening again.

The court heard Hudson & Sanders had no previous conviction for animal welfare offences and had an otherwise excellent reputation in the industry. The firm pleaded guilty to four charges under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

Offensive or shocking beliefs can be acceptable in a democratic society, an employment judge said yesterday, as she ruled a pastor was discriminated against for his views about gay Pride events.

Keith Waters, 55, a minister at an evangelical church, claimed he was forced out of his caretaker job at a primary school following a single tweet.

He wrote: A reminder that Christians should not support or attend LGBTQ Pride Month events held in June.

'They promote a culture and encourage activities that are contrary to Christian faith and morals. They are especially harmful to children.

The comments were condemned as homophobic and triggered a vicious backlash, including a campaign of harrassment in which undertakers were sent to Mr Waters home to discuss his funeral.

Isle of Ely Primary School in Ely, Cambridgeshire, began an investigation but the married father-of-one resigned three weeks after the tweet a day before he was due to face a disciplinary hearing.

Cambridge Employment Tribunal has now ruled he was the victim of indirect discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief.

Judge Sarah King said a widely shared belief demands particular care before it can be condemned as being not worthy of respect in a democratic society.

She added: Beliefs which are offensive, shocking or even disturbing to others can still be protected.

After the ruling, Mr Waters said it was an important win for our freedom to speak the truth of the gospel without fear of losing our jobs.

He added: I took legal action, not because I wanted to sue the school but because what happens to me goes to the heart of what it means to be free to preach the gospel in the UK.
Mr Waters, who founded the New Connexions Free Church in Ely in 2007, made the tweet in June 2019 the month Cambridge was hosting its first ever Pride event.

The school received three formal letters of complaint one claiming he had called for violence against people who support the Pride Festival.

The tribunal did not uphold claims for direct discrimination and unfair dismissal.

A spokesman for the Active Learning Trust, which runs the school, said: We welcome the decision of the employment tribunal that the claims of direct discrimination and unfair dismissal were not well founded and were dismissed. Compensation will be determined at a later date.

When suddenly you pass by a large room completely filled with people, mostly women in strange clothing. They are all sitting or kneeling in reverence and surround/gaze at a tubby man in a weird robe who is chanting something and has his eyes closed. There has to be at least 60 of them.

"What are you doing!? There's a fire! We have to get out of here!" you shout but most of the cult ignores you entirely like you don't exist.

One young woman turns to you and says "The Leader says we will be saved if we remain here. The leader is always right. We will be safe. You're welcome to join us."

"Join you!? You're gonna DIE... I.. I don't have time for this." you say as you feel the heat of the approaching flames getting warmer. "WE have to go! Now!"

"Leader says if we stay in this spot and have faith, we will prevail. You'll see. We will find our salvation through the leader." The woman says with happy optimistic eyes

Perplexed but out of time and options, you leave them to their fate and continue booking it for the exit. There is nothing physically preventing the cult from leaving alongside you.

You are about to escape the building when you see the water control system in the distance and notice someone has turned the water irrigation valve off. This is preventing the sprinklers from producing water even though they are activated. The cult were all in a room directly below sprinkers. The most sprinklers out of any room in the building, they would be drenched if the system was working.

But then you hear a shrill voice screaming "Help! Heeeeeeaaaaalp" and loud banging on a door down a long corridor in the opposite direction. A teenage girl is stuck on the otherside of the door. The door can't open because it is being blocked by a pile of rubble on your side. And the fire is approaching her so she can't turn around. She is trapped and helpless. There are no sprinklers in the corridor where she is stuck.

You can either run to the water control valve and turn it on. Allowing the sprinkler system to function and thus saving the entire cult. But the girl will burn to death.

Or you can run to the blocked door and remove the debris. Allowing the girl to escape but if you do this you won't have time to run to the water control valve before the dozens of cultists have already burned in a giant blazing fireball of agony.

You can't be in both places at once and there is no one else around. Oh if only one of those cultists had come with you. If only!

Think MCU just needs to start building to something again. Everything post-Endgame has kind of felt like, not that important? Like the big story is over and they just have to keep going like a show that shouldn't have been renewed for another season. Yeah the stuff can be good, but its just, why is it still going?

the games are simple fun and so are the characters

Sure Chris and Leon are dull planks of wood

But Jill, Carlos , Claire, Rebecca, Sheva, Jake, Barry, Moria, Ethan even Steve have personality .

They are well designed visually

And like them or not Jake, Barry and Moria actually have character arcs

Ever done tests of a good character?

What would they be doing if there was no crisis/after the crisis?
Do they have flaws?

Most RE characters pass the test except Chris and Ark
