I think people don't think far enough when they're talking about space combat, imagine a ship hiding out behind Neptune firing a laser at someone behind Mars. The laser takes minutes to get to the hidden ship, during which the other ship can do sort of wiggle-movements to dodge the firing laser. Plus the ship doing the wiggle-movements reactions take time for the attacking ship to register what it's doing. It's a guessing game with a laser pointer for where the other person will go with a delay on both ends.

Then you can have what are effectively heatseaking missiles with the same sort of wiggle-movement to dodge defensive lasers, and even if the missile is hit, it breaks apart and rams into the opposing ship, causing big 'ol damage. The missiles will take a while to get to the other ship as well, so it's a fun time.

It also depends on what it's for, if it's a warship then you still need to worry about glancing blows. So imagine two tanks tread-to-tread with some maneuverability thrusters to re-aim quickly.

People are speculating that he will roll up, hype up the stock, and then sell it and potentially crash the company.

I straight up don't know why people are asking if Trump would rejoin twitter.

Just like almost everywhere throughout history a small percentage of wealthy people lived well, while the majority suffered.

I'm pretty comfortable debating that considering what we've seen in writing is from the roman elite, and we have writing from the egyptian slaves.

Well, defining where lines are drawn is explicitly the purpose of the judicial system. The higher ranking judges saying what is, and isn't considered applicable is the purpose of the Florida Supreme Court.

I don't actually have any actual damn confidence in them, but a vaguely worded law being dumped on everyone isn't anything new.

I, like it seems like everyone else, is cautiously optimistic about this.

The issue is that the sort of people who propose and vote for laws like this have considerable difficulty distinguishing between "guilt-tripping people for what their ancestors did" and "telling people what their ancestors did." Generally speaking, teachers aren't telling white students to feel guilty because white people did bad things. They're just teaching about the bad things that white people did, and those that would prefer to pretend those things didn't happen are feeling bad because they're being forced to confront that historical reality.

In practice, this is going to end up being pretty similar to the Polish law that prohibits people from saying that any Polish people were involved in committing any of the Nazis' atrocities in WWII: A blatant denial of history for the sake of protecting the fragile feelings of a handful of people that don't like it.

But adjl, what if they learn that america was a slave state, and one that owned primarily black people?

Yeah, I was really surprised to see that wasn't a listed option either but the TC definitely seemed to have a more "modern" skew with those presented.

That would be on my short list though I'd fail to name an absolute "most important city ever" because it's just too difficult to qualify, even considering "basic" factors like like economic strength, regional religious/cultural significance, and military superiority. I think a list works better than an absolute for something so completely open to interpretation. Interesting question regardless.

That's also because to a lot of people here, history started in the 1600s.

So I called up the phone number for them, I think it was on the bag, and complained. Not like a Karen or whatever, nicely and politely. Even laughed about it. But their reaction took me by surprise. They took it VERY seriously. Had me put the bag in the fridge and sent me a return package. Sent me like $25 voucher/coupon to get more chips.

That's a pretty obvious failure of their quality control, some operator probably put the wrong packaging in the machine. Meaning a hilo brought the wrong packaging, the operator didn't notice, the person checking quality didn't notice, and so on.
You're not the only one who had that specific problem, you're the only one who mentioned it.

I mean, he does own multiple companies producing multiple products. One of my sister factories produces the rear tail lamp for their ever-popular car, and the local grocery store has Tesla charging stations outside of it.
