In present day She's a slash type like Adol. However in her past scenes she can be slash, strike and pierce. And I absolutely loved playing as past Dana, the idea of her transforming into different gameplay styles is what I want out of Ys now moving forward with solo Adol

Imagine absolutely loving the game from beginning to er, middle. It got kinda weird with the whole 4 horsemen of the apocalypse "guardian gatekeepers of the lacrimosa" thing.

The ending is pretty unsatisfying. So we merely postponed the doom of the world, didn't end it, that's some new lore that doesn't seem like it has a place in the Ys universe.

Dana is one of the best characters and protagonists in the series. Near the end her past scenes were honestly heartbreaking in a game that's otherwise the definition of B-studio level game story.

The heck is earthbound zero I don't see it on the switch store. I always felt that earthbound is one of those concepts I'd love to play if the original was just tweaked and improved, but solid idea.

All those burger places that have their "special sauce" or so called unique burger sauce of the establishment is just basically thousand islands sauce, it's such a popular condiment that they put on burgers.

but they did plant some seeds for season 4 that had me like "okay, lets see where this goes!"...

Not sure I get the joke, wouldn't they be more likely to use a loofah due the stereotype of being softer? Anyway growing up I used the ones in second post since my dad used them and had a ton, but now I just apply the soap directly on my skin which is better.

Extra devices like rags and loofahs are not necessary and are overall detrimental, it's best to apply the soap directly. Also I use bodywash now, it's so much quicker than bar soap. I used to take 30 mins and it cut my bathing time by half

Agreed. I don't like Sahad even though he's the strongest character. Hummel's design just makes me laugh. Ricotta's makes me frown. But overall Ys 8 is good.

But Ys 9... it looks like they gave Adol a rattail what's with that. And that costume that's like a 17th century France costume. I'd normally like that era design but it just doesn't fit Adol and Ys.

Falcom is going to back to the MSX/SMS/NES gimmick of porting everything everywhere.
That's not a bad thing.

We still haven't gotten a Ys 5 update/localization, so that's something.

And while there was a Ys 6 in North America, it was before the rebirth of Ys with 1,2,3,4,7 etc so I never played it and the videos weren't encouraging at all, so it could do with an update. Especially since a character from it apparently is in Ys 7 which really bothered me that I missed out on the connection since I love the series so much.

I liked the character designs for ys 7 but I didn't like them that much for Ys 8 and then Ys 9 is just terrible

I like the DS version because you can basically farm stat maxing items which basically makes even Marle and Lucca physical heavy hitters and Robo is so broken it's amazing I love it.

To be fair, so did Insomniac with Resistance. And companies like Sucker Punch went from cartoon fare to these lofty "concept" games with open worlds and karma meters and shit. That was the nature of the seventh console generation - the one big second-party dev that stuck to their roots somewhat and kept up with one of their 6th gen franchises is Insomniac, everyone moved onto gritty shooters or edgy open world games.

Naughty Dog's biggest boon has always been tech. Crash 1 is a technological marvel, they had to overclock the PS1 to make it work properly. The later Jak games are disputed - I played them all, don't shoot me - but one thing those Naughty Dog Jak games always had was cutting edge tech. We've only seen a return to Jak-tier character shadows kind of recently, and most bigger games still go for the choppy, blurry shadows that you're not meant to stand around and look at.

And while I only finished the first game at the urging of a friend, the Uncharted games do look incredible. They're really railroaded, linear experiences, but fuck me they're gorgeous. Even the original Last of Us on the PS3 holds up incredibly well today.

I'm bothered that they're milking the TLoU license as hard as they can. They're remaking the first game? There are only two Last of Us games. Can someone please make something fun and original again? Something that's groundbreaking and techy in a fun way - like Sonic's Ass, or Jak and Daxter with the kinetic, cartoonily tweened animations.

It's weird but Insomniac is the only one that has been consistent, an unlikely contender to me. I didn't grow up with spyro like I did Crash but after playing the collection, I consider it not bad.

Then you have Ratchet and Clank which are indeed fun games, and even though they're technically shooters, they're the only kind I like with wonderfully silly gadgets and weapons (plus I use the wrench and the whip and disco ball and mr zurkon more than I do the rooty tooty pointy and shooty weapons) and some world exploration+platforming to balance it all out.

Finally you have spiderman which I haven't actually played yet, been saving it, but of the half hour I did play, I know I'm gonna enjoy it.

I really want to like Sucker Punch because I absolutely love Sly Cooper, first game was great and second game is one of my favorite of all time, love the heist theme. True, infamous was basically a third person shooter disguised as a superhero game, but I liked the series enough that I played the first 2 games (and even though infamous 2 was less a shooter and had more brawler mechanics, I still noped out because of the crappy story and the aforementioned laughable good/evil meter that gen 7 was weirdly into). I want them to make a game I like again and ghost of tsushi is not it, ridiculously boring is not my forte

But Yeah Sly Cooper along with Ratchet and Clank were way better gen 6 titles than jak, which I really dislike (and I've tried to get into it)

As for Uncharted... I mean I can't complain when they gave away the first 4 games for free so they're a fine time killer when you're looking for a blockbuster experience, but I just don't care for shooters whatsoever.

Not to undervalue their efforts in making "technological marvels" but I really don't care about that at all, I care about having fun playing a game even if it's literally all jaggies and stick figures rather than the incredibly detailed but ultimately pointless shadow and particle effects

I like Crash. I haven't liked their other stuff. They went from making platformers to freaking shooters, that's like going from fun to shooters

There are also cut scenes that give better context to scenes that they did end up keeping in the syndicated run.

This is a pretty good one. They fucked up by one particular reveal. Spoilers for the whole show, only click if you've watched The Mentalist or don't care about it being spoiled:
They revealed that the big bad shook the main character's hand in the past. Presumably they did this before they knew who they were going to write in, and didn't think that Jane shaking someone's hand was going to narrow things down a bit. Anyway, in the end the identity is just desperately random.

Lost is a near perfect example. Dexter is a good one. Any show that does a big change to the status quo never has any follow through later on.

It has the classic luigi slipperiness and higher jump, but it's also much more difficult and the levels are different and shorter due to only having 100 seconds every level to beat it.

Edit ninja'd, but I will also add then that I'm reminded of when I played those middle earth shadow of mordor/war games, and how they had past scenes of pretty faced sauron with celebi rimbor and wonder if this show will have similar fanfiction plotting. I'm not that into lotr lore having not read the books, but the trilogy is just that entertaining that I enjoyed the games.
