I wish humanity would stop wasting so much time hurting itself and invest in more things like JW Space Telescope. It's not quite on topic, but I understand there are some promising anti-aging treatments in the works that have positive effects in mice. If society were more equitable, if we really funded hard science and encouraged people with the drive and interest to become scientists and engineers, imagine what we could do.

If we spent on science as much as we spent on "defense" as one united global community, it would be hard to overstate the advances we'd make

What I want a deeper explanation on is the quantization of energy in particles. Like if they can only have set values of energy, what happens to them during the jump from one level to another. Is it instantaneous?

It's not instantaneous. Particles are quantized because they're waves. At each discrete level the wave also has a different shape. Because of the wave-particle duality, you can only measure particles at certain positions on the wave. When the particle is not at one of these positions, the chance to measure it becomes 0%

The origin of the universe, which would also include its fundamental properties like quantum charge, spin, etc. The big bang (or inflationary theory) doesn't answer any of those questions, just the universes expansion from some central point

The transition of organic molecules into life. We have some ideas but nothing has ever been demonstrated

We don't know what dark matter and dark energy are

We don't have a satisfactory way of combining quantum theory with general relativity. The issue is mainly with gravity. This is what people mean when they jokingly refer to gravity as something we understand less than say, evolution
