I lost at gambling and had to spend a few months in a hard labor camp. Finally got out today.

Actually I just haven't really watched any anime or engaged in anything anime-adjacent (VNs etc) lately so I haven't really had anything to add to the thread. I have been just about to jump back in and start watching some series again though. The last few nights I've been meaning to finally start Non Non Biyori S3, and that Bastard show on Netflix looks interesting. I also bought all the volumes of Mieruko-chan that are out which I've been meaning to do since the anime ended.

That is weird at first glance about the Kaiji dub, but I would bet you anything it has to do with the popularity of Squid Game worldwide. Kaiji is very similar (and came first btw) so I bet they are thinking it could have new legs with the English speaking world if they can get it more exposure.

I made a topic about joining the gym and getting in shape a few weeks back, and got some solid advice. I decided to go with a personal trainer at least to start with, as I know nothing about lifting or proper form/diet or anything like that. I know I can look it all up online but having in-person personalized guidance could help.

The closest gym to me is an LA Fitness that's like within walking distance. Anyone ever use them for personal trainers? Seems like there are a lot of people online complaining about the contract being expensive and not being able to get out of it etc. I can afford it but I don't want to be hit with some shady fine print or something.

My problem with VNs are how long they are. Very rarely do I play one and think that it was fully worth the time I spent playing it. I only really play untranslated ones these days as a way to maintain my Japanese reading ability.

Honestly, I would be surprised if any do. They have their hands more than full with 4chan, Gab, Twitter, reddit, etc.

Yeah, Im likely to just keep buying the PS games I want and have my Series X be my subscription machine.

Kikokugai is the coolest game on that list.

If were not counting weird fetish hentai, Id say that Inuyashiki had some genuinely messed up scenes.

In order for me to really want to get this there would have to be a decent selection of PS1/PS2 games with trophy support.

Sekiro- absolutely loved it. Platinumed it and it's probably among my all time favorites.

I think they're probably not very self aware, the marketing people have it down to a science and it can be pretty subtle. They even have degrees in this shit, I can guarantee that they can "get to" even the most proud and cocky redditor who is totally too smart for it.

Seems like a silly question with an easy answer (just go) but I dont think I should really just walk in and start lifting random weights.

Basically my goal is to get a little bigger and get some muscle tone to me. Ive always been a bit self conscious of my toothpick arms and legs so it would be nice to get some meat on them. Ive also just been curious as to what its like to just be a bit stronger and in shape in general. Never been able to do a pull-up. I figure might as well start now.

I am male, about 6 feet tall and 170ish pounds (not visibly fat or anything but probably on the skinnyfat side), 32 years old. I dont need a six pack or a bodybuilder physique but some more bulk to my limbs and a more defined torso would be nice. I have thin wrists naturally so not sure if that would affect it.

so with that being said, how would a total gym newbie go about it? What exercises to try? Also do I need to go every day or like three times a week etc. also is a protein shake every day enough for the diet part?

I see a lot of pessimism about apps and a lot of it is not unfounded. However they do create at least a possibility where one wasnt there before.

I think the best thing to do is be on them, but just expect nothing and dont invest much time or mental energy into obsessively checking them.

I couldnt solve one of the puzzles in that one where you have to escape from the bedroom. It was straight up too hard for me and I looked up the solution.

Before you pick countries you should look at visa requirements etc to see if there's a remote chance of you even getting in. That might narrow things down.

I was looking for some good books to use to study (for vocab and grammar). I don't want to use DuoLingo, at least not as a main resource.

I wouldn't think anything of it either way. I would have to talk to them for a while before I make a judgment about what kind of person they are.

I played through the campaign, I thought it wasn't amazing but it was pretty good. The gunplay was extremely satisfying and the enemies were all very fun to fight.

Also, I initially started it on Series S but switched it out for a Series X like midway through and it made a world of difference in how nice the game looked.

hmm, Im unaware of those issues. what do you mean it says youve completed the campaigns? like, its showing the difficulty you finished the level on even tho youve never played it?

as far as the skulls, thats also a weird one. what skull does it say you have turned on?

On the main campaign screen when I click on the title of a game it says on the right side of the screen how many missions Ive done. It says Ive completed them all even though I havent touched the campaigns (10/10 missions done in Halo 2, 11/11 on Halo 3, etc). I didnt see what difficulty level it says Ive done them on.

for the skull thing, I start out with it saying I have two skulls enabled. I go to the skull menu and it has one checked (not two) so I uncheck everything and I still have one enabled. I have a 2.20x multiplier so it definitely looks like something is turned on.

Its a hyper conservative culture on top of the tyranny/oppression so yeah, I highly doubt there are any strip clubs (that arent for the top leaders personal enjoyment, at least).

I would ask on the actual game board but it seems super dead. I downloaded the game through Gamepass on Series X. First of all, it says Ive completed all the campaigns even though I havent. Odd, but not a big deal as long as it doesnt mess with achievements etc.

But more importantly I cant seem to turn skulls completely off on Halo CE. It always says I have one on even though I uncheck them all.

Anyone have either of these issues?

I don't particularly enjoy being social (I prefer solitude) but I am not bad at all at it. People tend to like me, and I can very easily make whole groups laugh.
