Yes, I do live in a country where owning anything other than a shotgun is more or less always going to be illegal, and owning a shotgun isnt easy. Before that I lived in the UK, which is mostly the experience Im speaking of.

Criminals do still have guns, and Ive not been entirely sheltered from dealing with them. However, the number of criminals who have them would be significantly lower than in the US.

My original response however, was to refute the idea that if you live in a rough area it just makes sense to have a gun. Nothing was said about it being in the US, though I still think that the issue there isnt that the criminals have guns, its that your police officers arent up to the task of dealing with that situation.

Home invasion crime and violence during burglary is much worse and higher in the UK because the homeowner is not likely to have protection. UK has near twice the home invasion rate as the US and they occur when he home is occupied because not only are guns banned, but other forms of self defense are punished. You can't even rest easy beating up a burglar there because if you're not charged with assault by some luck the criminal can always successfully sue you. You can even physically assault someone(start attacking them) and if you lose that fight and suffer an actual injury like an orbital fracture or broken nose/jaw you can sue. To cope with this the populace has been conditioned to think it's actually wrong or "not the best choice" to defend yourself and your home.

Here's another clown world nugget. They have what's called a "known trespasser". So if someone routinely trespasses on your property(a crime in a sane society) they have all the rights and protections of a guest or invited person.

I think the TLDR for the Ampere generation is that the RTX 3080 was too good of a card for that price range, at least in retrospect.

If they wanted to make bank on enthusiast cards like they did with the 1080 Ti and 2080 Ti, they shouldn't have made the 3080 that close to the 3090

The 3080 and 6800XT were never meant to sell for $650 and $700. There were rumblings that they'd be priced sweet for reviews and publicity but AIB's were always expecting to sell them at a huge markup. Apparently they paid MORE than $700 to NVIDIA for the chip itself and the first shipment was rebated by NVIDIA and AMD so they could sell the first handful at "MSRP". I remember buying a 6800XT marked up by $50 a few days after it came out and people were criticizing that.

NVIDIA is playing smart by holding back on the RTX 4000 series until the GPU price collapse ends and they clear out inventory. It's hard to tell if AMD's silence on the next RDNA chips is because they're behind or because they're trying to hit NVIDIA hard. The rumor is that NVIDIA will release only the RTX 4090 this year and everything else next year, but that depending on AMD's market strategy they may actually make the 4090 $999.

AMD can just wait on NVIDIA so they can "fix" their pricing. NVIDIA has to do something with their(and AIB's) stock of 3080, 3080Ti, 3090 and 3090Ti that will be worth jack and shit once the RTX 4070 is revealed.

NVIDIA is a much better-run company than Intel. They're not afraid to go hard in price-to-performance, either. The general consensus when they announced the RTX 3080 was that it was priced very competitively relative to the extreme increase in performance over the previous generation. Of course, that was before the GPU shortage, and at that time NVIDIA had legitimate concerns that AMD was about to come in and undercut them heavily in price. So they simply took what was likely their true enthusiast card (the 3080) and lowered the price from $999 to $699 (and dropped the VRAM from 12gb to 10gb), then renamed the RTX TItan Ampere series to RTX 3090 at the last minute.

In NVIDIA's own documentation, the 3080 was originally supposed to be the highest-end gamer card and the 3090 was basically the 3080 with a ton of VRAM (a Titan card, basically, for producers).

Intel is the kind of dumb ass company that releases something like the 11900k, charges more than the Ryzen equivalent, then can't even match their own previous generation's CPU in multicore.

Intel has like 100K genius employees, but the management is driven entirely by profits. They will never really compete on price, and if they take a hit like the last quarter, they just cut spending and mull over layoffs instead. The CEO was the highest paid CEO of 2021 and they're moving ahead with paying dividends to shareholders even though every inch of intel's business lost money(big time).

They sold of some segments to go along with the bad financial news and shut down optane. Intel is having execution problems and it's probably all on the management.

The price collapse of this generation of GPUs clearly shows that they were running a cartel-like model of deliberate scarcity. Apparently NVIDIA has so much RTX 3000 GPUs just sitting around, they decreased the price of the RTX 3090 Ti by like 50%.

Yup. The only reason the GPU crash didn't hurt AMD as much is because they used alot of their fab allocations on increasingly diverse types of products and don't have a deluge of unsold GPU's.

DarkRoast posted...
Honestly, I think the difference between NVIDIA and Intel is that NVIDIA actually does make highly refined and competitive products consistently. Which means AMD's gotta find a way to get ahead of NVIDIA in something, like you mentioned. Otherwise, they're just gonna be trailing NVIDIA at least in the PC space.

They also don't talk to each other about it.
AMD just reacts to nVIDIA and counter prices them.

Yeah they did that with the 6800 XT. But they only made it $50 cheaper which was a real WTF considering the gap in intrinsic feature sets between the 3080 and the 6800 XT.

NVIDIA will progress their product no matter what. Intel was keeping 6 core desktop CPU's for when they got 10nm working and only increased core counts due to Ryzen.

Frankly I don't care which brand of GPU I own, but AMD has got to find another way to compete. Either significantly lower prices with similar performance (the ATI way) or significantly better performance at the same price (Ryzen way).

I've been going between both brands for the last 5 years depending on price and availability. I think that AMD's RDNA3 will be a better purchase than Lovelace, especially if you own a Ryzen platform. They're enabling Direct Storage and a bunch of other things on the desktop. There's talk that the top RDNA 3 will be the fastest GPU this time around, we'll see. They came out of nowhere with the 6900XT and traded well with the 3090. One thing they have to improve alot(which looks like they did) is ray tracing.

I was a Radeon fan all throughout the 2000's. But to be honest, if I'm going to do a comparison I consider NVIDIA to be like Ryzen and AMD (ironically) to be like Core i9.

Core i9 does beat Ryzen CPUs in single-threaded performance sometimes, but GENERALLY SPEAKING Ryzen is just a better product overall, even if there's a couple things it does worse.

Likewise, the AMD cards feel like they're lacking the kind of support NVIDIA puts into GeForce. NVIDIA is so far ahead of AMD in general software optimization and support, even though they're about even in rasterization. In addition, I feel like AMD basically price matching NVIDIA instead of undercutting them makes it awful hard to justify. The only tier AMD undercut Intel was the Enthusiast (6900 XT vs. RTX 3090) but both cards were stupidly overpriced relative to performance; it's just AMD's was less stupidly overpriced.

I applaud AMD's FSR 2.0 big time. FSR 1.0 was, pardon my language, a fucking dumpster fire. I'm hoping AMD pushes harder into image reconstruction because it put NVIDIA way ahead of AMD in the RTX 2000 and 3000 generations.

AMD was recovering from intel bankrupting them illegally, and from blowing what money they had left on ATI. NVIDIA has about a 10 year head start on both software talent and software features.

NVIDIA is obnoxious with how it controls prices and feature creep, but at least they make competitive top-tier products. Intel has just been swirling the drain for a half-decade.

NVIDIA and AMD collude on GPU pricing. If Intel ARC were any good you'd just have all 3 colluding, intel is the reason they drive pricing up to begin with. NVIDIA and AMD got caught exchanging e-mails stating they need to raise the status of their brands to be seen as a luxury brand "like Intel" in order to command a higher price.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/cop-accused-falsifying-search-warrant-211502809.html

In the years since the police killing of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old woman who was fatally shot after a raid on her Louisville, Kentucky, home, questions about the origin of the search warrant have dominated conversations. Now, the community is learning that it wasnt how the warrant was carried out, but why it was issued in the first place.

Three new officers, Kelly Hanna Goodlett, Joshua Jaynes and Kyle Meany, have been charged with federal crimes in connection to the killing of Taylor, including unlawful conspiracies, obstruction offenses, use of excessive force and federal civil rights offenses, as the Department of Justice previously confirmed. Although Goodlett, Meany and Jaynes were not present at the time of the raid, their alleged misconduct is being accused of initiating the events that eventually led to the fatal shooting.

Goodlett, Jaynes and Meany falsified information to get the warrant, alleging that Taylor was receiving illegal packages at the residence, despite allegedly knowing that information was false, The Washington Post reports. They are also being accused of covering up their activity along with the police department being connected to The Elliott Avenue Project, according to WLKY. The Elliott Avenue Project is a development project.

A document describing the project alleges that the neighborhoods social and urban fabric has deteriorated over recent decades due to high levels of disinvestment and crime. It also states that the Department of Develop Louisvilles Office of Community Development, the citys entity behind the project, in partnership with Keeping It Real, Inc., a local nonprofit partner, are intervening in an effort to stabilize and reinvigorate this residential community within West Louisville.

Since the start of the project, the city of Louisville has acquired and gained control of several properties in the area, including 2424 Elliott Ave., which was once the home of Taylor and her ex-boyfriend Jamarcus Glover. After Taylors death, the city was quick to secure Glovers rented home and got quite the deal for it, too. According to Wave, the city bought the home for $1. The estimated home value was more than $17,000.

And the citys pending acquisitions in the area skyrocketed after they secured Glovers home. As of July 2020, just a few months after Taylers killing, the project document stated that they had succeeded in gaining control of 26 properties, with an additional 11 pending acquisitions in the area. The attorneys for Taylors estate, suspecting foul play in the citys actions, allege that the neighborhoods gentrification may have been the reason Glover was targeted and Taylor was killed, the Courier-Journal reports. Taylors attorneys started looking into the potential corruption and misconduct in 2020. According to WHAS11, they filed a lawsuit that alleges her death is connected to the Elliott Avenue Project.

The suit states that the LMPD created a special unit, the Place-Based Investigations unit (PBI), that focuses on certain areas which needed to be cleared for real estate development projects to proceed, according to WHAS11. Sources also allege that the block on which Glover lived was an obstacle to the projects efforts, and that LMPDs Criminal Interdiction Division, which the PBI is under, went after the area to kickstart the development plan.

Though some city lawmakers say the project and PBI have the neighborhoods best interest at heart, not every official agrees. Councilman Anthony Piagentini (R-19) is skeptical about their intentions and has expressed his concerns and questions.
Im struggling to figure out how this wasnt anything but driven by development, Piagentini said, WHAS11 reports. Correct that picture that I just painted that seems to go from development to law enforcement action.

Wow.

A lot of churches are hypocritical. Its funny reading the yelp reviews where former employees kind of spill the tea on what goes on behind the scenes at churches. I think the younger generation will take a "i am christian, but dont believe in going to church" approach instead focusing on a personal relationship with god.

I was raised in church, I know all about it. Lost my virginity INSIDE the church van too.

It's an IT role and they're asking about my sex and drinking habits and if I go to church.

mmm, convenient

That's 100% how it works. You made the claim. You provide the source.

  1. Party at Tate house, girl attends, sleeps with his brother, has good time.
  2. Girl's husband calls her up after tracking her phone, she lies and says she was held hostage.
  3. Cuckold calls the USA embassy(lmfao!) in Romania, police raid Tate house.
  4. Police take electronics, find no drugs, find no sex slaves, find not dungeon, etc.
  5. Police review indoor and outdoor surveilance systems, see girl getting it on, see her LEAVE the grounds to take food delivery and come back. Tates brothers are home free.
  6. Internet runs with the accusation after the entire case is settled because Tates blew up huge quite recently.
  7. Only other accusation a gainst him is beating a woman on camera...which he did with consent from his BDSM loving girlfriend of 9 years.
