This is my biggest concern. It worries me that companies don't actually give things a chance to grow and develop. If it isn't an instant hit it gets tossed aside.

Starting to think that may not be true, or people just aren't into Ms. Marvel, which while I enjoy her, I can understand. She's new, has been billed as the (somewhat) annoying, bright-eyed young hero character, and it's been going a little more slowly, I feel.

If it's a lack of interest based on the character itself, Ironheart is absolutely going to be a dud since not even comic fans like Ironheart, whereas they at least like Ms. Marvel.

I feel like the venn diagram of marvel and star wars fans is going to be pretty close to a perfect circle.

I think you're reading too into it. My interpretation of those posts were, "Between Han and Plum, Plum definitely looks worse. But I'll play devil's advocate a bit just to make sure Plum isn't actually town."
... Which Plum never addressed. So uh... that's another point against Plum. But that's just how Ben plays.

But I mean, I am a little uneasy about Plum being too simple of an answer... but as far as Day 1 candidates go, he's probably the safest lynch. If he ends up claiming without a counter, though, I'm not sure who would be the next best option. I think I saw Red as another lynch option if Plum flips Scum? Probably just Han mentioning it, but nothing about Red has brushed me wrong so far.

Speaking of Red, though...

I... think there's a misunderstanding? My point is that:

* IGCD thinks Lea's act of claiming was anti-town because it could potentially be useful against scum (but now that they know about her role, they're obviously going to leave her alone)
* changmas argues that Lea's claim was pro-town since otherwise it would have looked bad if a townie tried to scan Lea but got blocked
* IGCD counters by saying that, because of her claim, a town power role would feel inclined to test her claim and thus waste their scan on her instead of someone else
* MZero responds that scum wasting their scan on Lea isn't as significant as multiple town power roles scanning Lea, each of them getting blocked, but unable to say anything because they don't want to reveal their power (whereas the scum team shares info with one another)
* I say that I agree with MZero and that it's not worth scanning Lea tonight when there are better options. We can suspect Lea for her claim, but I don't think there's any sense in acting on those suspicions until later in the game. If Lea has generally been town-like, then it's likely she was telling the truth. If she's been doing nothing or otherwise being anti-town, we have reason to suspect that her Invisible claim was just a hoax to avoid getting mislynched.
Let's focus on confirming other townies first, and then later in the game, if we think Lea isn't behaving like a townie, then we can invest a scan. Right now, Lea is not a high priority imo

I'm still not convinced that Plum is scum. I don't really agree with the attacks on them because I don't necessarily belive his behaviour is scum behaviour, it comes across more as just anti-town behaviour, and the attacks all feel cyclical on him. Its like people are using each others attacks to feel justified in their own attacks and then people are using the other attacks to justify their own attacks.

tbqh it makes total sense to claim town untargetable immediately if that is in fact your role. If a cop scans her and says "I get no result when I scan Lea", it looks very bad for her and leads to a possible mislynch.

If she is in fact telling the truth, do you think it's more likely for a town role to visit her than a scum role?
Because if a town role is more likely to visit then she is certainly doing the right thing by claiming.

I think a town role is more likely to visit the person claiming it to test them, which would mean it is a waste of a night action, which is why I don't think it is a pro town move.

I have no idea. I would rate her as a mid level priority based on the player list. Obviously that can change based on who is actually on the scum team. Like if Ben, Han, Red, Ulti and you were scum, I could see her raising in priority but if all of them were town I could see her being a lower priority.

I honestly feel like it does happen every game I'm in with both of you, but you claim to have laid some kind of trap that I didn't understand.

Ok so I think I can articulate better why I don't like Lea's claim as town. First off, there is no Chris thats is confirmed to not be on her team, so the arguments that its the first post, its content, unlike last game blah blah blah, is completely and 100% moot. No Chris means that scum can afford to be more daring and not have to worry about their play being under a giant magnifying panel. So any of that she played different is completely and utterly moot.

The claim itself is such a misuse of power as town and an attempt to preemptively explain away why they are untargetable as scum. I consider Lea to be a better player as town and more devious as scum, which is why that claim does not track for me as a town claim. She takes any possible benefit for town that her role could have and throws it away out of fear that she might get mislynched if town targets her? I don't believe anyone comes into this game and looks at the player list and believes there is a 100% chance they get mislynched over this role as town.

I had more thoughts but got distracted irl and now I can't really articulate them very well so ill just leave this as I've seen it so far and add more when I can.

Sorry, got called to help my parents. Haven't had time until now. Let me clarify a few things...
1. I've only played a few games of Mafia in my life. Most recent was here 4 years ago (Blade Mafia) and that ended disastrously for me. I'd rather not talk about it. I have more experience playing Survivor online. It's safe to say that I feel in over my head right now (especially after how that ended) but we all have to start somewhere.
2. I have read day 1s before but can't keep straight who plays them in which ways. That stuff doesn't stick with me since I'm not playing. I was just trying to contribute...
3. I honestly don't know how to approach the start of a game. Right now, I'm thinking I have to wait to make conclusions until I see a flip. You guys have more of an idea since you've played with each other more.
I'll do a more thorough read later when I'm at home.

I'm ok with this explanation. I'm also generally in the same boat myself when it comes to making reads. Flips really help me put pieces where they belong.

I'm starting to not like Sheep. The way he is questioning people is really bugging me. Usually when he makes these kinds of posts they make me feel really good about him, but for some reason they are not coming across as good lines of questioning to me. Honestly, I kinda townread MZero based on the Ulti triplepost. The dude lurked like hell at times last game as scum and didn't post if it was unnecessary. I think as scum he just lets it sit and assumes nobody'll ask rather than constructing an obvious thought process, whereas it feels like he's having more fun this game and just posting what comes to mind.

Speaking of Ben, does anyone remember how he played during Chris's game? I was absent for most of Day 1 that game (which was also how long Ben was alive for IIRC). He's definitely playing differently now. Less chummy than his gig as Scum last game. But was it because of fearing Chris? Possibly. Does anyone recall the last scum game they played with Ben?

I've got no strong opinions on Ulti right now. He's always been a wildcard to me, though I mean I was about to come in here and vote MZero for the memes. So I don't blame him for that lol

IGCD is pretty consistent, though. I'd be scared if he was scum; he's acting exactly how he did in the last two games I played with him, where he was town. I think. I forget if earlygame IGCD is as aggressive as lategame IGCD.

Early game and late game IGCD can both be aggressive in different ways, mid game IGCD is lurkey as fuck.

Ulti willing to confirm both Ben and Lea town over what they have posted is asinine. And I believe Lea is too good of a player to just throw away their role like that.

As far as the not liking Ulti except for the Mzero hate, the latter part of that was just being facetious because of Mzero knack to role scum like 90% of his games.
