Did you run test to find out what happened? Hope she's resting well now
Yes. She had fluid in her lungs, a possible mass, and extremely low WBC. Unfortunately, cats often hide that they are unwell until the end. I'm not sure if he was just lying to make me feel better, but the vet said there was nothing I could have done to prevent this, especially as it happened so suddenly.

Mereoleona had always been a little busted as a result of being old and rescued from the streets. She looked dirty and a little weird no matter how well I cleaned her face or brushed her fur. She still had pep to her though. She would get so excited when she saw I had cheese or chips in my hand; she'd make a little chirp. I kept a close eye on her; her bowel movements were regular (honestly so regular that I could count on her stinking up the house just as I clocked in for work) and no cause for alarm. She routinely stole food from Archie, so she had a healthy appetite. She jumped up and down from the couch with no issue. I could even get her to play with toys every now and then. She was as fine as a cat with her history could be until she wasn't.

Tomorrow is never guaranteed, so love your pets as much as possible, every day.

Hey all. I unfortunately have bad news. I had to put Mereoleona to sleep today. She was vomiting this morning and wouldn't eat. I took her to an emergency vet and they said she likely wouldn't make it through the night. She was perfectly fine yesterday. She even harassed me for some of my cheese and potato chips.

During my freshman year of college I had a roughly 50 minute commute there. I had 9:00 AM classes and often left home by, at the absolute latest, 7:30 AM to make sure I had time to get there, park, wait for the shuttle bus, and get to class. None of my friends were going to the same school as me, so I couldn't carpool with anyone.

So, every morning, I listened to Kidd Kraddick in the Morning. I would have to switch stations about 3/4 of the way there to keep listening as the original signal was too weak to pick up. It was the only company I had in the mornings. I kind of dreaded the drives back in the afternoon/evening because of how quiet and lonely they felt in comparison. I'd play music, but it's not quite the same as just... people talking.

However, the summer between my freshman and sophomore year, I moved closer to my college. My commute went from nearly an hour-long drive through country backroads to, literally, a ten minute walk. I pretty much never listened to morning radio after that.

I don't have a car anymore, so I never listen to the radio period, much less morning shows.

There's a time and a place to complain. What really annoys me are people who will just start prattling on about mundane shit at work. I have a (former) friend who, almost no matter what you're talking about, will twist the conversation to be about whatever project he's working on. It's like... dude, I don't want to talk about work shit, unless it's commiserate about it being shitty, during my free time. And no, he's not doing it in that, "So excited and interested to talk about it!" way. He just wants to hear himself talk and feel smart.

C, but only for things that won't accept credit cards.

I spent several years under the financial control of my abusive ex. I had no freedom and no money of my own. She was also horribly irresponsible with her money. Routinely overdrafted her checking account, maxed out her credit card, and was late on rent multiple times. She was making four times what I currently make. I'm doing just fine, even if it's a little tight, and credit cards are a big part of that.

Credit cards are great if you have the discipline to use them properly. I treat them like cash: I don't spend more than I actually have. My utilization at any given time is never above 10%. I pay them off every month. It also gives me a little flexibility to prioritize certain bills if need be.

I have a well maintained 01 4Runner and was randomly offered $12k for it while fueling up a couple months back. Used market is fucking nuts.
The whole market is fucked, honestly. It's hard to find new cars and when you do, the dealerships are slapping on "market adjustment" fees and other bullshit. That's assuming you can even get your hands on a vehicle at all. I was trying to get a car recently and, without fail, every promising one I looked at would get snatched up either before I got to the dealership or shortly after.

If I was TC, I would just fix my current car. Hopefully this madness will end after another year or two.

This isn't a thing in the market right now. Used cars are going for damn near new prices. I've seen dealerships rolling out shitboxes old enough to be in high school, with the paint peeling off, slap a $8,000 sticker on them, and they fly off the lots.

About seven years ago, my ex bought a 2012 Subaru Legacy for about 12,000. Nothing wrong with it. Just about three or four years old, average mileage. No trade-in (unless you want to count her absolutely busted Stratus that they essentially took off her hands). No down-payment. I just looked on cargurus and a similar car is currently going for $15,000. A damn near decade old car, for fifteen grand. Utterly ridiculous.

My old car was a 2002 Honda Civic. Had almost 300k miles on it. I loved that car, but it stopped being safe to drive and was prohibitively expensive to fix (needed about $2000 in repairs at a time its KBB was under $900). If I wanted to get that kind of car again, similar age and slightly less mileage (around 200k), I'd have to shell out $8k minimum.

I'm currently in a 2br/2ba. Base rent is about $1240. The mandatory fees make it about $1400 each month. Got my lease renewal last month and they're raising the base amount by $200. I was just barely able to cover the previous rate (along with my other expenses). I'm actually not even able to renew my lease because my roommate bailed and I do not meet the income requirement on my own.

Also, fun stuff: most apartments in my area require that you make 3x the rent to be approved. My gross pay is about 2,400 on average. So, I do not meet the income requirement for an apartment that is $900/month (about the cheapest you can get a 1br/ba that is not in the absolute ghetto). My current complex actually only requires that you make 2x the rent, so I'm going to be moving into another unit here that is $1,100/month. Can't get approved for a $900/month unit, but can for a $1,100/month unit, despite the fact that I've been paying $1,400/month by myself for almost half a year. I fucking hate it. I'm going to be broke for the rest of my life.

Not actually the case at my apartment. You have to notify them sixty days before the lease renewal date that you do not wish to renew it. If you don't say anything, they automatically move you to a month-to-month lease that's $1.1k higher per month.

That wouldn't be so bad, except that everyone on the lease has to sign off on not renewing, and I'm in the fun position that my roommate just bounced earlier this year. Left a bunch of her crap behind too. She's refusing to sign the paperwork. I might end up homeless or owing $2500 in rent as a result.

I've only played in one campaign that was ended by the DM throwing a hissy fit over the other players bailing. My character was an elf. Don't remember her class, but her backstory was that she had set out to find her brother, a half-elf, who had stormed off in a rage after learning the truth about his parentage. I had all kinds of ideas for her that I'd talked about with the DM, like how I wanted her to meet up with her mother's old adventuring party (or, more realistically, the one surviving and extremely elderly member of it) and an eventual reunion with her brother. I was super excited about that, but only myself and another player took it seriously. The other three bailed regularly or made a mockery of the whole thing. On a night where two of them bailed, the rest of us played and the other serious player's character nearly died in a way that was clearly driven by spite from the DM. The next time the others bailed, I said I wasn't going to play with a party of just two characters if the DM wasn't going to adjust the difficulty. Cue him throwing a fit and never playing with us again.

So, my sweet little elf only exists as a sheet of paper and a five page Word document now.

Yeh she is completely failing to empathize with you or even to do the absolute bare minimum of acknowledging the severity of the trauma youve experienced and are continuing to experience in your divorce. What youre explaining here goes beyond her being generally incompetent, shes behaving in an extremely unprofessional and decidedly unethical way. Do you think theres a possibility that she has a bias against your gender or sexuality? Is this a private organization, or is it a state run facility? She has a boss either way unless its her own private practice or shes a partner of an independent firm, and it may be worthwhile to escalate it to their attention.

Her only job is to know what to tell you, and if shes satisfied being a failure at that, thats disgusting. I used to work for a state facility as a project lead in a group home, so I had to deal with these types of shit head therapists and their complete disinterest in the clients well-being all the time. The cynicism in the industry ultimately broke me, so I got out, but I get so furious hearing about experiences like this.

Also, you should know you can ask to see your file at any time, so you can see exactly how shes characterizing these interactions.
I mean, I know a therapist's job isn't just to magically fix you, but it has felt weirdly cold.

I can't imagine she would have any kind of bigotry towards me. I'm... not straight, but I'm pretty sure I asked for a therapist who was LGBT friendly. She's part of a private practice, but she's not the head of it.

It's not the first time she's yelled at me about going ahead and filing for divorce. It's like the, "Hey, I literally don't have that kind of spare money and being married on paper isn't really hurting me for the time being," bit just went in one ear and out the other.

If filing for divorce did somehow get me out of the lease? Hell yeah I'd do it. But it won't. And there's infinitely more important things to spend that money on. As far as I'm aware, any debt she incurs does not become mine. I'm not named on any of her accounts and I watch my own credit like a hawk, so I'd know if she opened something in my name. I'm already planning to take her to small claims court for her half of the rent once the lease is over.

Partially paraphrasing, of course. She did at one point tell me that I needed to go ahead and file for divorce and move on, almost word for word, after I explained the issues with the lease. Had zero to do with the situation at hand. She tried to insist that me remaining married to my ex and paying the bills was just helping her. I pointed out that I was going to have to pay the rent and the electricity no matter what and that it was only becoming an issue now that I need to move. My marital status has no effect on that.

One of my friends has done it to me too (which is part of why I don't talk to them about this stuff anymore). Opened up about the stress of paying for an overpriced two-bedroom apartment by myself and she just went, "Well, you need to file for divorce," like that would get me out of the lease.
