Ambition is about social standing. Desire to be leader of whatever space.
For example, a guy who participates in local races.

One guy just enjoys the run.
One guy wants to win and be the best.

2nd guy is ambitious.

Sometimes this quality gets you rich, but like this example it would not.

What it does get you is respect and people saying "wow he is the best" blah blah blah.

Youre describing competitive. The guy who runs marathons just because he wants to challenge himself is ambitious too.

I did a somewhat desperate Hail Mary complete and total change of my life a year ago with the goal of finding something that actually makes me feel like I am doing something that means more than some cents on a companys financial reports, find some sort of feeling of community with people who are worth choosing to have in my life, and try to find a way to be happy as somebody who doesnt really fit in with normal society.

Crazily, its actually working. At the moment I am more happy and hopeful than I have been in a very long time.
