Sonic Prime is really fucking good! Definitely give it a watch! It's obvious it was made by people who respected the games and knew how best to use every character's strengths and weaknesses, even in the alternate timelines.

I think there's always going to be demand for human artists. No matter how good AI gets at art, it's always going to lack that human touch, that bit of personality. And some beloved artists have more simplistic art styles with less shading. Plus, it's impossible for it to make comics where the characters move convincingly from panel to panel. I also believe that anyone who tries passing off AI art as their own will always be found out.

Got back from a belated family Christmas party since the snowstorm stopped the actual Christmas gathering. Had some damn good food and enjoyable conversations. My uncle gave scratch-off lottery tickets to everyone. The big winners were a couple of the kids, who won a whole $20 (out of a potential $150k top prize). Naturally, mine gave me jack shit. My aunt let me have the dime I used to scratch it off with as a joking compensation, so I technically came away richer than most.

I think my cat was half Ragdoll and half Maine Coon. I found this picture of a crossbreed of the two and it's practically a dead ringer for him.

Damn, Guillermo Del Toro's Pinnochio on Netflix was incredible! The characters were very nicely stylized, I loved the stop-motion animation, and the story was just incredible. The ending even got me choking up. You'll know why when you see it. Definitely recommend!

Three general recommendations:

1. The gaming webcomic, Awkward Zombie. It has generally good humor that isn't crude. The author avatar only shows up when she's doing games with customizable characters, otherwise she uses the canon protagonists.

2 & 3. The youtube channels Accursed Farms and Civvie11. They're both long-form reviewers of games, really going into detail with excellent editing skills. AF is also known for Freeman's Mind, which is still ongoing. Civvie has more of a focus on retro/retraux FPSes. Both of them showcase some really interesting, obscure stuff.

I've been treating my stomach well, but it's not treating me well. It's generally just been upset, even when feeding it light, healthy stuff. On top of that, my shoulders, ribcage, and sternum have been aching since a gaming chair I used to use wasn't built for guys with broad shoulders. The worst of the aches have recovered, but there's some that are gonna linger.

Life just can't stop shitting on me. I can't remember the last time I really felt any positive emotions, other than the shallow joy from those Leslie Nielsen comedies.

The covid home test turned up negative, so I guess I've just got a regular seasonal bug. One that happens to be a particular pain in the ass.

I just put on some deep sleeping music, plugged in my headphones, and took a much-needed nap. I'm definitely feeling much better now, but I don't think I'm out of the woods yet.

Temperature, queasiness, and eye soreness has gone down. Still, some queasiness is there, and I'm generally feeling like a tightly-wound ball of stress. Should probably sleep on the living room couch tonight. It's warmer up here.

Feel like a dumpster fire. Hot, queasy, weak, eyes are tired, just wish someone would shoot me.

It's possible I'm infected with the flu or covid again. A number of symptoms line up. Headache, nausea, chills, slight weakness, and more trips to the bathroom. And despite not drinking anything hot, my tongue has a faint stinging like you'd feel after drinking something hot, which was the indicator that my sense of taste was going.

I feel like crap. I got depressed thinking about my late cat again last night and had trouble sleeping. Might have also been something I ate and the slight guilt I felt rejecting Elden Ring. Also slept with my mouth open last night for some reason, so it was completely dry and I had to get a bottle of water.

My mom also got me Elden Ring as a late-arrival present. Unfortunately, I had to let her down gently and tell her that it's a freaking hard game, and I don't enjoy getting my face stomped in 400 times just to get an inch of progress, so it's getting returned.

My brother got a couple custom tree decorations with the cats on them. I miss you, little buddy, and I'll never forget you.

My mom had trouble finding a good Christmas movie, so we just decided to watch Naked Gun 2. Those Leslie Nielsen comedies really hold up well. Having ridiculous, goofy sight gags presented without comment, like they're just simply part of the environment, was a stroke of genius. And of course, Leslie's history of acting in serious movies giving him the ability to remain stone-faced in ridiculous situations absolutely made them. Really shows what a little subtlety and restraint can do.

Got a bunch of practical things, some fleece lounge pants, some snacks, and my mom got me a copy of God of War: Ragnarok.

The big surge in electricity usage has gotten the area here a notification to ease up on it. If we don't comply, the company will intermittently shut off power around here. The temperature will be back up to the 50s soon, so hopefully that will ease things up.

My mom had me take some cookies to a couple of our elderly neighbors, along with cards that have our numbers on them, in case they need our (read: my) help in this nasty weather. Tonight, I shoveled and salted all our walks, and the other neighbor lady I was less familiar with thanked me and said she'd make us a cranberry salad tomorrow. She called my mom to thank her for my help and my mom said that I should go and pick up the salad, since the neighbor being out was risky.

Also, my brother volunteered to work on Christmas weekend, which he regretted. At least he got a shiny new $3.50 an hour raise to compensate.

It's -7 degrees, we got three inches of snow, I can hear the wind howling, and yet my brother still had to go to work. Yikes.

The rain has started. Tomorrow, it'll be ice and potentially outages. We're gonna have single-digit lows for the next three days. Once again, Christmas will be negatively impacted by something completely out of our control, but I guess it's better than it being ruined by something man-made.

We've got some single-digit temperatures and snow headed our way in a couple days, so I might might vanish for a bit. Tomorrow it rains, the day after will see a major temperature drop and a practically guaranteed snow. I could definitely see that knocking out power for a while.
